It looks as though I ought to be able to do the same in Galeon - about:config brings up the preferences. There is already a general.useragent.override entry present "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686) Gecko/20030630 Galeon/1.3.5". After 'Modify'ing the String to "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686) Gecko/20030630 Galeon/1.3.5 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)" this works also; but on re-loading Galeon, I find the String back where it was before. How do I get to save the change? TIA, DougB Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

I hate it too, but for another reason. I've had the discussion "why not support other browsers" with a number of sites. They all say that 95% (or some high number) are IE users, and they can't justify working to allow others. Part of the problem is those who are not really using IE at all, but trying to look like IE. Distorts the statistics rather badly. It's getting worse, too. Many sites are now using scripts to ID the browser, and M$ is apparently helping develop some commercial ones too. -- rikonamailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Though I usually employ Mozilla for surfing, I find the Konqueror way of masquerading by far the easiest: it can be setup and stored per site and it fools even Microsoft: I haven`t convinced my kids yet to use Linux all the time and I regularly get updates from Microsoft for them. Konqueror is very good for that. (BTW it does not require KDE to be running). But on this list or another one I read recently that some interactive banking programmes are not fooled by masquerading, so YMMV.
