Re: [expert] Samba - Linux to Win printer
For the printer name on the win box, make sure it's something without spaces etc. Such as BJ6000. Make sure that when you enter the printer name in printtool that you enter it as lower case such as bj6000. Strangely, one of the linux boxes I have needs the printer defined as /xyz and the other as just xyz in printtool. So try putting in the slash or removing it also. "Dana J. Just not the opposite. I'll include the details after I get home tonight. Networking is setup fine btw. Regards, Dana > You have said nothing about what you did on the Windows box. Have you made the printer sharable, enabled Microsoft Networking, etc.? Nor have you indicated whether you have general IP connections. Can you even ping from each box to the other? -- -- C^2 No windows were crashed in the making of this email. Looking for fine software and/or web pages? http://w3.trib.com/~ccurley
Re: [expert] Samba - Linux to Win printer
have you installed a printer under linux? the printer you install under linux should use a driver that is related to your printer. also, what does your smb.conf look like? "Dana J. [expert] Samba - Linux to Win printer
Greetings, Ok. I've setup Samba on Mandrake 6.1, and have things working just fine..., minus the fact that I cannot print to my Canon BJ 6000 on the Win box from the Linux box. I followed the instructions in the book from O'Reilly "Using Samba", still no go. Any ideas? (stock install of Samba from 6.1 btw) Regards, Dana
