Re: [expert] Video card help urgent pls,

2002-01-12 Thread Steve Kieu

My suggestion is to install 8.1, set it to not boot
 into X, then

Yeah, for some reason, the install program hang when
it run the XFree Test, I have to re-install it, and
this time not test; then login . I got the newest
driver from the author of the driver and replave it in
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers ...; run Xdrakes, it
works. Now my question is, is it 3D accelarated card?
If yes, how to configure it, I did not see any thing
similar when compiling the kernel, the DRI module, (it
has AGP though); I have not run any program using
OpenGL yet, not sure if it is ok.
Thanks for the response

download the newest Xfree packages. These will solve
 your problems with
the driver. Then boot into X and go from there.

Yes it is supported.

Though it will not work correctly with version 8.1.

My suggestion is to install 8.1, set it to not boot into X, then
download the newest Xfree packages. These will solve your problems with
the driver. Then boot into X and go from there.

[expert] video card help

2000-04-26 Thread Pj

The company I bought the Diamond S3 Trio card from is willing to help.
I think it will be best if I stick to a PCI card. I found two 16mb that
might work. No box version.

STB 830121 (fx voodoo3). It mentioned something about using/needing a
Open GL wrapper.

ATI 089714, (Xpert 128) in a retail box.

I have a Tyan Slot7 board with a shared AGP slot; K62-500 CPU; 160
P-100RAM; and Venus Power pack. I know I said "Air". Mea Culpa! I'll try
to do better in the future.

All help/comments will be appreciated. What I really want is a card that
will work when installed with a minimum of fuss.

Thanks for your time and help,

Voodoo3/3000. It works out of the box (with the correct X
server.) If you want 3d hardware acceleration, you can
hand-compile some stuff from the src.rpm and such (Mesa3d
and glide drivers) but it works fine with the correct X
server RPM installed.
