part of R's answer was: I just consider myself as a child.
I think I'm a child who refuses to grow up.

Put that man back in rags and give him a following of beggars and see if he's

Thanks for speaking up Jane. New
voices are fun and always appreciated. Lord knows many wish I would become the
woodwork. Maybe if you aren't shy you can help fulfill their dreams by deepening
the grain so that I don't stand out like a knot. Knots can be beautiful when
they blend.

I would be considered one of the
biggest iconoclasts at this group. Or am I wrong. Anyone? But that shouldn't
belie the fact that I have had to go through the whole deprogramming thing, and
then the whole refinding myself thing, and then the whole I'm ok thing, as many,
as you suggest, will also have to do.

As you say, one feels much more
free afterwards. It's hard to change the mindset from one of doing things for
the Movement, to doing ones spirituality for oneself. But this is of the
essence. We really are doing the spiritual thing for ourselves first primarily,
and for others who benefit from our improved nature secondarily. As is
obvious now, there really is no Movement to be doings for any longer anyway.
This should provide freedom to those who previously were torn between their own
desires and the Movement's rigors.

When I left MIU after four years
and doing a stint on THP my program was two hours long twice a day. As I
couldn't fulfill that time committment I altogether quit meditating, and it took
me a few years to realize that I didn't live to fulfill some meditation
specification but instead the meditation existed because it was of benefit to
me. This turnaround was entirely the start of a new way of thinking about things
spiritual for myself. And this realization has helped me to this day. I call it
starting where we are.

We cannot provide for our
customers what we cannot guarentee based on our own spiritual practice lest we
become what we rebelled against in the first place. That is,
institutionalized ignorance.

I think for us TMers we became the
fanatics we were because we had a taste of the divine, or we even sank into the
divine, but then that taste was extrapolated into a palette of flavours of which
we had no certain knowledge. Or the savour of the additonal flavors just was
priced too high. Because we had chocolate we were told that peanut butter was
right around the corner, and that in days to come they would be mixed. However,
peanut butter never came, and people are being asked now to sell peanut butter
cups in gold foils without ever having tried one.

TM wasn't supposed to be a faith
based thing. All the science was wasted becauseTMO is a faith based thing
now. For what did Keith Wallace spend his whole life pragmatizing, now that the
vital objectivity of science has given way to faith and religion? That's
besides the pointsince if MMY had just gone the traditional religious
route in the first place many would have been just as, if not more happy. It's
ironic that MMY's longest adherents were those for whom he was a religious
figure, and yet now even most of them can't take the crap any longer. The
science fronting was part of that present scepticism as it now seems merely
Machavellian.

Yes, what a waste the Movement has
turned out to be. In the sense that it sloughed off it's old skin so many times
that we merely see the old wrinkles now and the original beauty is long gone.
Only a few see the old beauty in the ugliness. The few for whom love is blind,
or those who have been married so long that they couldn't even remotely hope to
find a new love again in this lifetime. But the love has gone out of this
relationship. It's possible that the love was unrequited right from the start.

Unfortunately this wrinkled skin
that we find telling, is the skin of Maharishi's own face. This skin is
the fate of all institutions. We actually are lucky to have seen the true face
through the initial beauty all in our lifetime. Other such aging beauties
are America. Life on earth, and everything really.

What goes up must come down, all
that is built will fall to the ground. Empires come and then they go, so step
right up and you guessed it,

enjoy the show.

I think you all should be
applauded for being the parade and not standing on the sidelines. Here's
to that great spirit!

I heard the place burned down. Lightening strike?

I heard arson. Word has it the owners burned it down

I think that's an accurate self-assessment. There are certainly
others on the list who engage in smashing TM's icons, but it is
usually done for the purpose of directing attention to a different
icon.

I call it starting where we are.

I call it surrendering to who I am, as I am. And it has been
wonderfully freeing. Equally freeing is traveling what I know to be
the appropriate path, and not what some external authority has deemed
appropriate on the basis that it has been arbitrarily proclaimed as
being the highest. If one is wired to be more firmly in the body,
there's not much point in forcing oneself into an escapist paradigm
of body-denying, Brahmanist supremacy.

Through the years, the TMO has won over people through threats. Only
a few people have stand up against the TMO for several reasons, no
money for lawyers, bad karma, if you fight against your Guru,
something bad will happen etc.

The TMO started the fight against me, first with letters that I
answered, then telling me that I no longer was allowed to initiate,
then commanding me to cancel my personal web-side where I was
marketing TM, all costs paid by me personal, commanding me to not use
the name Transcendental Meditation, give back the Puja-set to the TMO
etc. I refused everything.

Then came several letters from the lawyers in the TMO threatening to
drag me to the Court. At that time I found my own lawyer that stand
up for me. All the agreements we as Governors through years have
signed, are hardly valuable any more. The time has changed, the TMO
has changed and the agreements have not changed. In my Country people
is protected by the Law regarding agreements who is not up-to-date,
signed more or less by force. If you don't sign, you are not allowed
to do this or that after you paid a lot of money for a course.

It is easy to prove that the word transcendental is a description of
a state in consciousness. The Mantras is universal as Bija Mantras.
So the result was that the TMO did not drag me to the Courtroom and I
am initiating as before. The only thing I did was to follow step by
step the lawyers in the TMO, just answering. During that time I had
Nature support at all levels. So I feel now, that it was a lucky day,
when the TMO did not want me around anymore. Grateful for that.
Otherwise I still would have been in the middle of the frustration

MMY. After I was kicked out,I have been initiating openly outside the
TMO sometimes for a little money sometimes for free. That made a lot
of noise from the TMO, with threats, lawyers, you name it. I won -
the TMO lost. I am very happy that I am outside the TMO. I have great
respect for the Veda, Guru Dev and all Real Spiritual Masters, but I
do not want to be associated with the crazy TMO any more.
I am practicing TM and some other techniques through the day, and
feel happy for the first time in many years, free to develop in my
natural way. I do not practice the TM-Sidhi-techniques any more. They
gave me a strong headache after the program and loss of energy.
It takes a lot of courage to let go, but it is worth it. I see a lot
of Governors that are really unhappy, with a lot of problems with
health, money, fear. Even worse now, after the recert. thing.

I already told you I don't like
him.He didn't like me. Yes, he lives in Malibu and drives a mercedes.
Didn't you know that? I mean, he's presently much less innocuous than
Maharishi but that's who he takes his cue from, so don't expect real religion
beyond the religion of his own personality to be there if the mirror is held up.
And if religion is what your seeking then consider that were it possible it's
considerable that Maharishi's neovedism would be the same in the end game.

I have many meditation techniques
that I made up, many of which are much more inspired and well reasoned than mere
hyperventilation and TM redux. Don't you know that I re-cognized the religion of
Bhagalamukhi the Crane Faced Mahavidya? The point is, that if he looked
like me you would just think he was another punk ass bitch. Instead,
because he's a Hindu with shiny black hair and twinkling eyes and neti neti talk
patterns and white robes he fits the mold of guru and world savior for you. He's
much more materialistic than I will ever be.

No, I don't know who's blowing
him. Do you honestly think he would turn some good head down from some babe
while he's driving his Mercedes through Pac Pal? Why? He took no vows of
anything afaik. I mean, who cares? I don't.

What's the difference? Want
to find the truth. Offer him a handjob next time you pick him up from the
airport. If he says no, then just say, just kidding, and if he says yes then
just say just kidding. If a truth seeker wants truth then they need the balls
for it. Too scared to lift the dhoti to see what it reveals? To scared to
dash the idol to face nihilism?

No other human besides yourself is
as ready to make the proper moral decisions that confront you. So no other human
guide is necessary. I just don't get the need to place other people on
pedestals. They all need to come down. Even Sri Shankara was a complete asshole
and misogynist. He wrote great Hindu copy while his entourage pressed the poor
and downtrodden further under foot. A poor person giving a dime too another is a
much greater act of sacrifice than an organization with millions giving millions
for tax write offs. Arg, the truth is so obvious.

You had just said how hard it is
to get rid of one false guru without setting another one up. Well, I guess
you know how hard it is.

that was white hot Brahman being interpreted on the level of an
unrepentant kaliyugan. What impressed me most was the greater heart
value of his org and followers, which is what convinced me to take
his course.

As for Kirk's essay, I found it to be an extremely entertaining read.

The only shred of direct evidence in all this is that
you and he looked at each other for a few seconds and you didn’t like him and

based on your own emotions. (keep in mind that I’ve only seen him once, from
afar, when he had short hair and was one of M’s pundits). But I’m defending

Hey.

For working people approx. 480 Dollar, less for students. If people
don't have money, they learn for free. I do not refuse anyone because
they do not have money. It is a great releave to initiate without the
money-stress. And the students have great experiences. I initiate in
small groups, often 1 or two people at the time. It is much better for
the students than the big courses we used to have. In Ukraina I
initiated 125 persons a day - just terrible.
My small groups meets with each other after a while to experience

i am curious, in what sense did you win
over the TMO? was it a moral victory
where you just persevered and nobody
was gonna stop you?

or was it a legal victory, setting a legal
precedent for independent TM teaching.

a friend of mine has been teaching TM
at the old rates for quite some time, and
he is always busy initiating new people.

i would like to tell him about your legal
victory, if thats what you meant ;-)

g.

The TMO did not take me to the Court. The treathen to do it, and I
said Do it. Then they withdraw. But you have to know the law and use
a lawyer who is tough. You have rights as a citizen of a democracy -
bless the democracy. The TMO is in some way afraid of the reputation, -
and a courtcase could destroy the TMO completely.

[FairfieldLife] Carlos?

2005-05-04 Thread Rick Archer
Title: Carlos?

Santana Sued Over Supernatural Firing
Some say that listening to Carlos Santana play the guitar can be a spiritual experience.

But in a lawsuit brought by Bruce Kuhlman, one of Santana's former employees, Kuhlman claims he was fired because he wasn't spiritual enough.

Kuhlman's suit alleges that Carlos's spouse, Deborah Santana, consulted with a guru named Dr. Dan, and that employees were evaluated using Dr. Dan's Neuro-Emotional Technique.

Unfortunately for Kuhlman, his enlightenment/consciousness level was too low, and apparently he was too old to raise it.

Kuhlman maintains that Mrs. Santana based her hiring and firing decisions exclusively on evaluation by Dr. Dan and his measure of the applicant's 'consciousness level.'

According to the suit, Dr. Dan said that the more enlightened a person was, the closer to God he was and the better employee he was.

Deborah Santana recently penned a book entitled Space Between the Stars. Her Web site states that Deborah sought a path of illumination and justice and has remained committed to spread peace, wholeness and unfold her own spiritual transformation.

[FairfieldLife] It's all Open Source

2005-05-04 Thread Vaj
Swami Vishnu Devananda says:

Being Duly Sworn on this 30 day of June, 1986 I Swami Vishnu Devananda
state the following:

1.

I am a Swami of the Saraswati order in the Shankaracharaya line,
and am fully knowledgable and expert in the theories and practical
techniques associated with teaching meditation. I have taught
meditation internationally for the past 30 years in North and South
America, the Carribean, Europe, The Mediterranean, Australia, India,
Southeast Asia, etc. and maintain 30 teaching centers, and affiliated
groups under the name Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers.
2.

I hereby state and fully affirm that any Bija mantras or alleged
Bija mantras used by the defendants various organizations have been in
public domain for centuries. They are commonly known in India and
parts of the west. They can be located in books which I and other
authors have published and can be found in almost any free library.
They are not the trade secrets of any particular organization. Many of
the Bija Mantras are listed in my book, Meditation and Mantras. My
Guru, H.H. Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, listed these mantras in his
work, Japa Yoga in the section on Bija Mantras. (see attached copy)
3.

The effortless, passive repetition of these mantras is not
unique to the practice of the defendants programs, and is common in
all meditative practices. Here I guote points 8 and 9 from the 14
points of meditation outlined in Chapter 2 of my book, Meditation and
Mantras:

   8. Allow the mind to wander at first. It will jump around,
but will eventually become concentrated, along with the concentration
of prana.

   9. Do not force the mind to be still. This will set into
motion additional brain waves, hindering meditation. If the mind
persists in wandering, simply disassociate from it, and watch it as
though you were watching a movie. It will gradually slow down.

4.

If an individual who is unqualified or unprepared to begin
meditation uses a bija mantra, negative physiological or psychological
effects can occur.
5.

The Yoga sutras of Patanjali and the practice of the formulas
which result in siddhis are common practices taught throughout India.
Many translations of the Yoga Sutras can be found in many libraries
throughout the world. The Raja Yoga sutras have also been introduced
to my students through my book Meditation and Mantras as taught by
my own Guru, Swami Sivananda. Further the goal of Yoga is not the
obtainment of siddhis, and these powers are not to be sought as an end
in themselves. Patanjali himself warns in chapter 3 of the Raja Yoga
Sutras:

(37.) From that comes intuitional hearing, thought, sight
taste and smell.

   38. Te samadhau upasarga vyutthane siddhayah:
These are obstacles to the state of samadhi, though they are
considered powers to the mind which is worldly.

Patanjali makes it clear that the siddhis described above are
but temptations and distractions from the superconscious state. They
only appear attractive to those who are steeped in worldliness, egoism
and the desire for power. Seeking these powers can bring many
physiological and psychological problems to the individuals concerned.
6.

Translations of the Rig Veda - Mandalas 1 thru 10 and
translations of the Jaimini Sutras are not the private, unique secret
information of any particular organization, but rather are part of the
scripural heritage of India and are commonly known and publicly used.
7.

The information regarding the mantras, techniques and scriptural
books listed above are most definitely not a copywritable unique body
of knowledge, nor are they the trade secrets of the defendants various
organizations. Rather they are an integral part of the rich cultural
and scriptural heritage which belongs to India.
8. It is my opinion that if anyone purchased goods or services from
the defendants organizations with an impressions to the contrary, then
those individuals were defrauded.

2005-05-04 Thread jim_flanegin
Llundrub, you hit the nail on the head! No, this is NOT a compliment!
(ha-ha)

At the same time re the TMO I get this distinct feeling that since the
TMO doesn't 'belong' to Mahrishi per se, that he doesn't belong to it
either. It appears more like kids who really want to play in his front
yard, and he loves them so he lets them, going along with their ideas
to build a tree house, etc.

The TMO appears to be an ego shell for what is really going on;
Maharishi has always said that the real work is being done in Silence.
And it Is.

And Jane, good for you! I too as many did went through pure hell in
extracting my belief system from the TMO. Fortunately it occurred when
I first learned the Sidhis, now discarded, so I was VERY perceptive
about what the TMO really consisted of, and I had the good sense to
avoid it for long term career prospects. The householder life
definitely has its challenges for me, but they are at least
comprehensible.

All the Best,

Jim

It's ironic that most horror
movies are actually parodies of Christianity but most people are so used to
seeing crosses burned and stabbed through people that they have fogrgotten that
the original time that the cross was used against another as a spiritual weapon
must have been very idolatrous and confusing. Whatever your icon or symbols of
choice tomorrow someone will heft it and use it to bash someone elses brain out.
Best to stick with the formless best to stick with simplicity best to see what's
really here, and not get stuck on labels because they will be used against the
very person who created them in the first place.

So as the famous sticker goes, Eat

Re: [FairfieldLife] question for jane

2005-05-04 Thread Llundrub

My guess is that upon the forming
of a new corporate countenance to front the new movement the old corporations
and their agreements have been obsoleted. Moreover, Maharishi himself has
decommisioned people thereby relieving them of the choice of continued
obligation. The prior peoples of TM could probably claim that they have some
percentage to the original name and product through having donated much monies
over the years, in terms of restoration, and that should be a counter claim to
any potential threat. Furthermore, it could probably be argued that they could
use the name Transcendental Meditation regardless of any consideration due to
monopoly laws, and usury laws. This is a pithy area, and the willing lawyer can
foresee a huge class action to regain proprietary rights to a product basically
stolen from the people who developed or promoted it. I don't see Maharishi ever
being sequestered into court in the US or elsewhere so my guess is he doesn't
havea legal foot to stand on. Finally, he would be probably arrested for
contempt upon arriving in the US should he make a claim.

Power of Silence
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
In my opinion, a priceless collection of short quotes gathered
from Maharishi's talks over many years and on many continents. If
you have never seen this, or don't own it, you are in for a
tremendous treat. This is a kind of "A to Z" or Soup to Nuts
compendium of wisdom about every important topic that could ever
come to mind. There are 175 pages chock full of wisdom that you will
want to read over and over again. Makes a fantastic gift for anyone,
TM practitioner or not, who loves wisdom and truth.

It's true. Deepak was Mr. Wonderful at MUM. Standing ovations in the dome

I heard that someone actually spat on him in an airport. Aren't cults

[FairfieldLife] Some TM bijas

2005-05-04 Thread Vaj
Here are the explanations for some of the TM mantras, straight from the
source, the Varada-tantra (no, not Rig Veda...):

Hreeng

[It gives the meaning of the sequence of letters in the bija]

Ha means Shiva. Ra is said to be Prakriti. Ee means Maha-maya. Nada is
said to be the Mother of the Universe. Bindu means dispeller of sorrow.
With that Bhuvaneshvari should be worshipped.

Shreeng

[It gives the meaning of the sequence of letters in the bija]

Sa means Mahalakshmi. Ra is said to mean wealth. Ee means satisfaction.
Nada is Apara. Bindu means dispeller of sorrow. This is the bija of
Devi Lakshmi. With it the Devi should be worshipped.
