I like the book review attributed to Ambrose Bierce:
"The covers are too far apart."

[FairfieldLife] A Rehabilitating and Constructive Endeavour

2006-05-27 Thread peterklutz

Finally got tired of seeing Paul Mason having hijacked articles at the
Wikipedia Encyclopedia for the evident purpose of promoting a book he
has written.

Therefore restructured the site so readers now are offered a broader
overview of the subject.

As all things wikipedia, this is a work in progress, with details in
need to be filled in.

In particular, the following articles/keywords could use with a good
definition (they concern states of consciousness):

[FairfieldLife] True Essence Of Yoga

2006-05-27 Thread surya

Yoga is the most prestigious field of spiritualism. People think
about 6 wheels (Chakras) or lotus flowers present in the spinal
card, which are not seen by the eyes. They are imaginary and so they
carry some inner meaning. When you say a face as a moon, fools
search for moon in that face. But, wise people see similarity in the
face and moon. Similarly, wheels and lotus flowers should not be
searched in the spinal card. Spinal card is the main nerve,
representing mind, which is the base of love.

All these wheels or lotus flowers are the bonds of love in the
various relatives like parents, wife or husband, children etc. They
are compared to wheels or the revolving whirlpools in the ocean,
which attract a swimmer and drown him. Similarly, these love wheels
are compared to lotus flowers, since the lotus flowers attract the
bee by sweet fragrance and bind it. Similarly, these love flowers
attract any one and bind them. "Kundalini" is the mind which is the
energy travelling as waves like a serpent, should cross all these
love wheels connected to 7th lotus flower in the head
called "Sahasrara", which is Buddhi or intelligence that takes the
decision, which is the firm love on God.

Bhagavat Gita is called as the main scripture of Yoga (Yoga-Sastra).
Why there is not even single reference to these wheels or lotus
flowers in anywhere in Gita or even in Upanishats? Since they are
not real, they are not even mentioned. The author of the Gita was
Krishna, who was called Master of Yoga (Yogeswara). Krishna also
says that the real yoga was lost since long (Sa kaleneha mahata….).
This means that in the beginning, Sages in India knew the real yoga
and loved God only crossing all their family bonds. In due course of
time only, this true yoga was lost. Why? The middle age Indians were
unable to cross their family bonds and so failed to succeed in Yoga.

They wanted to cover their in ability by twisting the very concept
of yoga. The family bonds were removed from the concept and only
wheels or lotus flowers are left fixed. Now, they close the eyes and
say that they have seen the lotus flowers or wheels, which are only
imaginary. Now they cross these wheels by their
imaginary "Kundalini" and say that they have succeeded in Yoga.
These blind teachers are also not to be blamed, because they were
trained like that by their blind teachers. This misinterpretation
was done long time back and hence, even at the time of Krishna, He
told that yoga was lost since a long time.

We cannot catch those original culprits, who were the top most
twisting masters and so the present tradition also cannot be blamed.
Only rectification is the way left over. Some say that they see
light, which is only an imagination. After all, the mind is a form
of energy and on its concentration imaginary light can be imagined.
Instead of such a week light, you better see a strong light with
your open eyes. What is the use of these imaginary lights and
colours, without achieving the Lord through your love, which excels
the various worldly, loves.

I pity the foreigners, who are trapped in this false imaginary line
of yoga, who are wasting their precious lifetime and energy. In
fact, they are the best to succeed in yoga, if the reality of the
yoga is exposed. Their family bonds are very weak and their love
towards God is real, which is proved by their huge sacrifice of
money to God's work. Money is the fruit of work and its sacrifice
for God's work is "Karma phala tyaga" as mentioned in Gita. Again,
the middle age Indians twisted this word "Karma phala tyaga" as
sacrifice of the fruit of the work like praying God instead of
sacrifice of money.

The reason was that these Indians were unable to sacrifice money to
God due to their strong love on their children. Foreigners ask their
children to earn after certain age. Indians store money even for ten
generations and still continue to store only. Since prayers,
meditation and knowledge are very much diverted to God, India was
blessed by God with good language, good mind and good knowledge.

Since foreigners are good in sacrifice, God blessed them with good
wealth. Even Indian spiritual centres were strongly funded by
foreigners only. Swami Vivekananda cried, "Why my India suffers with
poverty in spite of so much spiritual knowledge?" Sacrifice of money
(Karma phala tyaga) and sacrifice of work (karma Sanyasa) put
together constitute the God's service, which is the real Yoga (real
proof of love) called "Karma yoga" in Gita. Foreigners are the best
in this karma yoga and so they easily succeed in yoga. Throughout
Gita, this karma yoga was explained as yoga and wheels or lotus
flowers are not at all mentioned.

What other doorways (than steaming marathon sex sessions) lead to
expanded (oceanic?) states in the outer 100% realm of Life?

Chuckle. At least this morning, the articles that pop up as representative for the search are
mostly about TM. E.G. teens and blood pressure.

Those that aren't are about Centering Prayer which Judy insists was first based on TM,
Benson's Relaxation Response (do you deny that the RR is based on TM?), etc.

[FairfieldLife] Revisionist history?

2006-05-27 Thread sparaig

Blatant revisionism, or just Really Bad Reporting?

And he used to charge $10,000 per lecture + expenses and quietly donate the $10 grand to
the Maharishi Ayurveda Fund. These days, he donates 10% of his income and brags about it
and everyone hails him as a humanitarian. Sheesh.

http://www.sundayherald.com/55707

"Chopra showed similar persistence with his writing career. Nobody would publish his first
book, Quantum Healing, so he did it himself and hawked it around bookshops until a
publishing agent picked up on it. Thanks to a resounding endorsement from Oprah Winfrey ,
the cash register hasn't stopped ringing since. For his recent London lecture, he estimates he
may earn between £15,000 to £25,000 depending on the size of the £40-a-head audience
and the organisers' expenses."

MIchael, with all due respect, you have absolutely no idea what you are
talking about, and this silly idea went out with bobby socks and
bouffant hair styles.  Got an idea--why don't you get together with an
actual woman--you know, a real live one, not one in your
imagination--get to know her a bit, and see where things go naturally,
and if they happen to go in the direction where you can um, practice
some of this,  see what happens.  See if your experience is anything
like what you write about.  Better yet, try giving her a lecture on how
she is supposed to be having this kind of orgasm  or that kind, and if
she doesn't it's obviously because she is just not evolved enough, and
see how long she sticks around.

You know, Michael, my guess is it's been so long since you've had any
actual experience with someone--if ever--that the silly fantasizing you
indulge yourself with has become one, if not the major, substitution.
My guess is you avoid any open, even moderately close relationship like
the plague, preferring instead to live with fantasies.

But you did answer, and you've been a good sport about taking the
ribbing I've been dishing out, and also shown a modicum of a sense of
humor to boot.  I'm sure you have a lot you could give to some woman,
there's someone out there you could work with in an open, honest
relationship where you could explore together and see what works for
you, and her.  I really suggest you go find her, it would make a world
of difference for you.

Sal

Uh, Peter...I think you've confused 'tantric'

involves some guy who is as clueless about why
no woman wants to interact with him as he is
bitter about it.  :-)

I see Michael all the time in drum circles here in

real, attractive women in these drum circles. Michael
is not in some fantasyland regarding women like some
poor purusha guy yanking his lingam and then begging
God for forgiveness.

This certainly describes many purusha guys I knew when
I was on purusha. Certainly not all of them, but
unless you're having very clear transcending
experiences it is very difficult to "keep the energy
up" without specific techniques to do so.

Don't know. Not to my knowledge, but surely happened sometimes. Not the kind

For most guys, wet dreams were a bigger problem than masturbation. A friend
and I used to have a competition (who could have the fewest) and mark them
on a calendar.

Yes. Huntley Dent. Interesting character. Nearly blind. Used very magnified
type on his computer screen, but could mostly just write everything in his
head without frequent reference to what was on the screen.

And "Quantum Healing" wasn't his first book, it was his
third, after one he self-published (can't recall the
title) and "Return of the Rishi."

You can't "hawk around" a book to bookstores unless it's
actually been typeset and bound.  It is possible to get
a self-published book on the shelves that way, and for a
publisher to pick it up if it sells well.

Chopra might well have done this with his first book, but
to the best of my knowledge it was never picked up by a
publisher; and "Return of the Rishi" (again to the best
of my knowledge) never went through the self-publishing
stage.  "Return of the Rishi," which was published by
Houghton Mifflin, sold well, and obviously by the time
he wrote "Quantum Healing" he was well enough known that
he would have sold the ms. directly to the publisher.

So that passage from the article makes no sense at all.

The self-published version may have been picked up
by a *distributor* if it had sold well enough.

and "Return of the Rishi" (again to the best

In other words, he sold the ms. directly to a publisher--
most likely through an agent--rather than self-publishing
it first.

"Return of the Rishi," which was published by

He probably sold "Quantum Healing" on the basis of a
proposal and sample chapters, as opposed to the
entire ms.

with ancestors there several hundred years in the past.  I was
disappointed to  hear knee-jerk racist expressions from southern whites
about the blacks who were stranded by Katrina floodwaters in New

Southerners, and casts an ugly scar on what would be abeautiful face of

Racism towards blacks is not limited to the South. Yes
the South has the legacy of slavery, but the slave ships sailed from Boston
and New York where blacks have not been treated well even up to
recently. And the South had the legacy of the Jim Crow laws which were a
result of the failure of reconstruction policies forced upon the South by the
federal government after the freeing of the slaves. And the South has the legacy
of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, just turns out there were as many, if not
more, members in Northern states. I personally believe racism is a human quality

Paul's book about Mahesh is quite good, although I simply got tired
of reading about Mahesh. I have been shy of Wikipedia simply because
of its edit-ability, but I cannot imagine Paul taking liberties with
facts or misusing edit-ability to his own ends. Everyone should read
his bio of Mahesh.

Huh. When I was healthier I often had clear transcending experiences AND was sexual
active. I took MMY's advice to heart and didn't try to be celibate because that would have
been more stressful than not.

Given how stressful the results of sex turned out to be, that says something about my
sexuality, I guess.

With a little help from myself and a group called "Friends of Chopra"... His VERY first book
was called "Creating Health" and he wrote it before he learned TM, as far as I know.
Certainly, before he met MMY. It was also a Houghten Mifflen book, at least in the edition
*I* have, and that's hardly "self-published."

He may have had to promote it to book-sellers himself, but that's hardly the story given.
That was probably a decade before he went on Oprah.

Huntley Dent, as others have pointed out. Dent copied Chopra's style of speaking, which
was/is quite charming.

[FairfieldLife] Jonathan Schwamm out of the hospital

2006-05-27 Thread Rick Archer
Title: Jonathan Schwamm out of the hospital

Dear friends,

Today friday we came back from the   hospital.

Jonathan is definitively starting a new life and I   am happily joining him in this new adventure..

We have read all your emails.

At the beginning it was actually overwhelming for   Jonathan.

The first emails made him realize what   really happened.

He has no memory of the 3 days when he was under   the respriator which is a blessing.

One anecdote:

When Jonathan had still the respirator tube in his   mouth he made me a sign that he wanted to know what was going on.

I explained that his heart has stopped and that he   had needed some support for the breathing.

When the tube was taken away he asked again and I   explained again.

He asked many times and finally I said : "You   nearly died" as a response,in a rough voice due to the tube but in the most   gentle way he responded; " I did not have any cosmic experiences"

He realizes now that it is a blessing that he does   not have any memory of the commotion .

My attention was totally on Jonathan during the   last week and I could not put any energy in organizing an email to be sent   to you. I apologize for the worries this might have created.

I won't have the time to respond personnally to   each emal right now but I am planning to do so soon.

Jonathan is going to take easy and look into other   alternatives to help his situation.

In this respect I also want to thank you for all   the advices we have received besides the love, healing energy and   attention.

Since last friday I have felt surrounded in your   love and light and immersed in the trust of the Divine.

Again thank you for that gift of   friendship.

Knowing Jonathan as you know him, it will not be   difficult for you to imagine how your words of love and support have affected   him.

There is no doubt that during the challenging time   the prayers and love have contributed to the miracle which brought him back with   us.

But now all your expressions continue to nourish us   and we feel gratetful to have such an extended family of friends.

In return we send all our love and blessings to   you

Anne Marie

The early days of gambling casinos were a disaster for most tribes that participated. I haven't
checked the latest news, but I suspect that they're still not terribly good for the tribes.

He sold QH on the basis of the promotional work done by Purusha, Clarla Linton (Brown)
and so on. QH was a commissioned book. Ironically, if you search inside the latest version,
there's not a single mention of "Maharishi" at least using Amazon's search engine.

Return of the Rishi has been republished with a slightly new sub-title. Don't know how
much, if any, of the text was revised. QH and Perfect Health have been completely
rewritten over the years. QH was a study in Chopra's relationship with the TMO and
Maharishi. The more he distanced himself, the more revisions were made to the book.

I just did a search on pubmed and scholar.google.com. There is STILL no published
research on the efficacy of Chopra's Primordial Sound Meditation technique.

[FairfieldLife] Dirt digging

2006-05-27 Thread Rick Archer

Subject: dirt digging

Hi Rick,

I think, a lot of FFLers got it wrong.
Just take away the term - dirt digging - and ask them again,
what they really mean.
My experience is, that TM just woggles around the deeper,
more fundamental  emotional problems, and leaves people
with boring and snoaring meditations.

That`s the reason, why they then grumble so much in FFL.
Or go to other teachers, gurus or

One experience from Sweden.
A lady had the tremendous body movements, that where
"famous" in the 70s.
Mr. M. personally worked with her for 14 days every day
in La Antilla, 73. In didn`t work  out. So he sent her to a doctor,  which
also didn`t help.
She then was not able to become TM-teacher .

In the 90s I met her, gave her one of my special sessions, and she solved
a very deep, underlying HATE against her mother.
That maybe is not thinkable in the context of Mr. M., that these emotions
exist and
need to be taken care of.
Next session: Her third eye opened, and she gained CC.
Two sessins, 18 yrs. sitting on the last deep stress, so to say.

So thanx to Mr. M., who adviced me to look into the puranas to find the last
points to
understand these principles.

And what would you now call this part, that we all have to
solve at last ?
Gold digging ?

cheers

joerg.

Recognizing that someone is not part of YOUR "in-group" is a universal human trait. The
Japanese have entire sets of verb-forms dedicated to this. They also have groups of
native-born people who are STILL not eligible for citizenship even though they've lived on
the islands for generations.

Nope. I taught his intro TM course, and he hadn't written any books at that
point.

Maybe, but I doubt it. He met MMY in New Delhi during the Vedic Science
course a few months after he got initiated, but didn't have any extensive
interaction until later, back in the States.

I've read it too, and informative as it purported to be, it just left

Only shortly before--he met MMY in 1985.

> It was also a Houghten Mifflen book, at least in the
> edition *I* have, and that's hardly "self-published."

OK, I got it wrong in my post, then.  I didn't realize
Houghton Mifflin had republished it.

So the article has the title wrong.  Also, it wasn't
"self-published" in the current sense; it was published
by Vantage Press, one of the old "vanity presses."

There are four different editions of the book listed
on Amazon, each with a different subtitle.  The Vantage
Press edition's (1985) subtitle is "The Psychophysiological
Connection"; the first Houghton Mifflin edition (1987),
"Beyond Prevention, Toward Perfection"; the revised
Houghton Mifflin paperback edition (1995), "How to Wake
Up the Body's Intelligence"; and a 2005 edition from

Close.  He first was on Oprah in 1993, I think.

According to "Return of the Rishi," he learned TM
in 1980; he met MMY five years later in Washington, D.C.
Chopra had gone to hear MMY give a big public lecture,
then afterward MMY ran into him outside the hall and
invited him to come upstairs for a private meeting.

I didn't. Ted Weisman did. But I taught the course with Ted. It was in
Cambridge, shortly before we went to the Vedic Science course in New Delhi.
So it think it was sometime in October, 1979.

It was a joke mixed with sarcasm and irony It always strikes me as
funny that a grant foundation is necessary to provide the money to
learn an 'effortless natural' technique for the Self to uncover Itself.

That's probably true, in terms of a face-to-face meeting. But we got Deepak,
has parents, his brother, and his brother's wife into the hall during the
Vedic Science course, so he first "met" Maharishi then. Ted and I were
staying with the parents.

Imaginary?

All I can say is about 30 years ago (during a period of both long
rounding and celibacy) I had the experience of a flower opening up,
petal by petal (in an astonishing "mechanical" way), in my spinal

Thomas Jefferson blamed slavery on the British.  Indeed, he felt
that the British imposed it upon the colonies.  And he was really
pissed off that the Brits got so high and mighty about offering
slaves their freedom if they fought against the colonists during the
revolutionary war.

Of course, Jefferson himself owned slaves which I believe he didn't
free until his death.

Forcing is never good, especially when the basis of the technique of
the whole of Maharishi's teaching and TM is effortlessness.
If one has to go through all kinds of self-torture to remain
celebate, I don't think that is the same, as someone who is
spiritually ready to be celibate.(not many are)
Looked at the havoc that celebacy has created in the Catholic
Church...

[FairfieldLife] Kaplans

2006-05-27 Thread bob_brigante

Maharishi Channel is happy to announce the replay of a special part
from  the Maharishi's Global Family Chat on Tuesday, May 23 2006,
celebrating with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the birthday of
Arleen Kaplan, whom Maharishi called "The Mother of the Movement".

Maharishi in a very touching address, honored the Enlightened Kaplan
Family, for their supreme generosity and devotion.

Anybody know if Arleen Kaplan (I think her husband is Harris Kaplan)
is related to David and Earl Kaplan?

[FairfieldLife] End of Slavery Soon after Revolution if Brits had Won RW

wrote:

If he did, its  bit odd. Britian introduced slavery to many ofits
colonies in the 1600's -- maybe that is what he is referring to. But I
have read that, I think in Hamilton's bio, at the time of the
revolution, Bitian was increasingly anti-slavery, and that if the
British had won the Rev War, slavery would have been short lived in
the colonies.

Regardless, from other sources,  Britain outlawed the slave trade in
1807 and soon began enforcing this principle on other nations. By the
mid-19th century Britain had largely eradicated the world slave trade.
Slavery itself was abolished in the British colonies in 1834.

They did this as an effective tactic, but also because of the growing
British belief in universal freedom (in terms of no slavery),
something that the collectively founding fathers did not share  --
despite their high minded rhetoric. (with strong exceptions such as
Hamilton)

Hamilton was vehemently against slavery and never owned any.

That doesn't sound right.

In 1780 Massachusetts Constitution adopted with freedom clause
interpreted as prohibiting slavery. Other colonies were also starting
prohibitions -- nine years prior to the adoption of the constitution.

---

1774
Connecticut and Rhode Island prohibit further importation of slaves
(although Rhode Island merchants remain in slave trade to other colonies).

1776
Society of Friends (Quakers) abolishes slavery among members.

1777
Vermont Constitution prohibits slavery.

1780
Massachusetts Constitution adopted with freedom clause interpreted as
prohibiting slavery.
Pennsylvania adopts gradual emancipation, freeing slaves born after
1780 upon their 28th birthday.

[FairfieldLife] 'Focus Of Attention & Gravitational Pull'

2006-05-27 Thread Robert Gimbel

"Centers of Gravity"    For as long as most of you can remember, you have embracedthis concept known as "gravity"..believing it to be an immutablephysical law.  One might say that it falls into the same category of"inevitabilities" as death and taxes.  Up until now, these beliefshave served you well. Now comes the time for humanity to begin realizing that it isa person's individual FOCUS OF ATTENTION which determines the Centerof Gravity for any universe.      GRAVITATIONAL PULL    The word "gravity" has more than one meaning, you know.Besides its reference to the magnetic pull of Planet Earth, it alsorefers to a state of seriousness that a person feels about somesubject or idea.  In your own life, what is it that you are trulySERIOUS
about?  What means the world to you?  When you have discoveredthis, your PERSONAL PASSION, you will begin to understand how toadministrate the magnetic pull of an entire planet. Some of you actually KNOW what excites you, and wecongratulate you for that.  Others only think they know, and they getfrustrated when things don't go their way.  Let us tell you this:  Atthis time in history, the name of the game is NOT developing patience, building faith, or passing some arbitrary "test" that is being setforth by a God or Goddess who holds the keys to your happiness.  It is100% about REMEMBERING WHO YOU ARE, and reconnecting with the powerand love that has always been yours, since the dawn of time. Your heart and your life force is a VORTEX.aVORTEX MERKABA, as we once shared.  The
steady pulse of your Soul'sEnergy, flowing through Earthly Channels, is what regulates andsustains the actions and reactions of everything and everyone aroundyou. Within their own universes of perception, the same is also true.  It's a Multiverse, you know.  Lives and life purposes tend tooverlap.sending messages of love and joy in all directions, serving many purposes all around. What you really want is what you're getting!  There are nomistakes.  You are both the cause and the effect of everything thatoccurs.    For youwho hear and comprehend this message...ourcounsel is to let your eyes look STRAIGHT ON.  Do not be distracted bytrying to figure out what others are doing,
what they think of you, orwhat they needunless your Soul calls you specifically to thatservice.  Do away with craning your neck, trying to second-guess theUniverse, trying to protect yourself from transformative heat andconfrontation through daily circumstance.  Deal with what is in frontof you, and let the rest of it be.  Pay attention to what is INSIDEYOUbecause, with few exceptions, that is the source for whathappens on the outside.    In the meantime, we would invite you to search the depth of your heart, soyou can search out those personal "passions" which too many haveburied---underneath their list of "do's and don'ts," as well as agrowing list of unattended responsibilities. Look right past the"shoulds" and reach for the goods!   Find what excites you, and letyour vortex spin.  Then, stand back and watch your world spin rightalong with it.
Watch it spin, then LET IT IN.  It's all YOU.  All ofit.  Including us.  And we are always here. Reach out for us, wheneverthe need is there.  Speak, and we will hear..and come to you inwhatever form you require, in the timing and manner we have long agoappointed. So let it be.

Yes. I wonder what the implications are -- that is, Bob's suggestion
for creating a quantum leap in world Sattva might be. Or the plan of
some limited mind who came across this "chart" and actually believed it.

Interestily, Hilter read a lot of Madame Blavatsky and her racial
theories cloaked in spiritualism.

This is the way things are in creation. When Krishna decides to
create, he manifests as the Trinity of Shiva (tamas), Brahma (rajas)
and Vishnu (sattva). All of creation similarly is predominately one
or another of the gunas -- it's simply what has to happen in order
for phenomenal creation to take place. If you are under the
impression that tamas is evil, then you are wrong. Maharishi, as a
monk in an order founded by Shankara (an incarnation of Lord Shiva)
wears Rudraksha beads in homage to Lord Shiva, the personification
of tamas.

Hey Bob,

You may not be a racist but this spiritual justification is pure
plantation logic. In the relative tamas is not higher than sattva.
Even I remember that.

If MMY called someone a tamasic person an another person a sattvic

[FairfieldLife] Protester tries to burn himself to death

2006-05-27 Thread gullible fool

KOLKATA, India (Reuters) - A protester tried to
immolate himself on Saturday as part of a three-week
strike by medical staff against higher college quotas
for lower castes, but witnesses said he was stopped by
police.

Television footage showed the protester, reported to
be a medical student, wincing in pain from burns to
the upper body as he was put in a police vehicle to be
taken to hospital. Ajit Singh, a private doctor, said
the burns were "not serious".

Thousands of mainly upper-caste doctors, professionals
and students took part in the demonstration in New
Delhi, ignoring an appeal by Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh to end a strike that has disrupted state medical
services in many parts of India.

Discrimination through the ancient Hindu social system
of caste is banned in India but remains a major cause
of division and even violence. Lower caste people have
traditionally had less chances for quality education
and prize government jobs.

In Kolkata, upper-caste junior doctors padlocked
out-patient departments in state hospitals. About
5,000 anti-quota protesters later marched in the heart
of the city, causing huge traffic jams.

Some of the protesters carried banners reading "No
dunce-cracy, only democracy", suggesting quotas for
lower castes would reduce academic standards.

MEDICAL TREATMENT

In many cities, people were desperately seeking
medical treatment.

"I have come to the hospital for three days in a row
without any hope of getting treated," 53-year-old
Sukhiya Bibi, suffering from kidney problems, said in
Kolkata.

Singh met protesting students for the first time on
Thursday, promising massive expansion in higher
education to create more places overall and not just
for lower castes.

But many protesters were unconvinced.

"The government is dangling carrots in front of us,
but we are in no mood to call off our strike," said
Nikhil Ranjan, a spokesman for the striking junior
doctors in Kolkata. "They have to give us a written
assurance."

The government proposal would mean nearly half the
places in state medical, engineering and management
colleges and universities would be set aside for lower
castes and tribes, and that these students would need
lower marks for admission.

"These politicians are taking this country backward,"
Anuj Thakaral, a doctor at a cancer institute, said in
New Delhi. "People of no merit are being advanced
because the government will do anything for votes."

In the past some castes would not allow members of
other castes to touch them and would have washed
themselves or their possessions if they had been
touched by someone from a lower caste. Groups are
common in highly stratified societies.

In 1990, dozens of upper-caste students burned
themselves to death in protest against an increase in
quotas for lower castes in government jobs.

No. No. No.

You've all got it wrong.  It's not four.

And it's not three OR five.

It's not even two.

Here's the lowdown:

One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
Two can be as bad as one
It's the loneliest number since the number one

No is the saddest experience you'll ever know
Yes, it's the saddest experience you'll ever know
`Cause one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest number, worse than two

It's just no good anymore since she went away
Now I spend my time just making rhymes of yesterday

One is the loneliest, number one is the loneliest
Number one is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
One is the loneliest, one is the loneliest
One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
It's just no good anymore since she went away
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest
(Number) One is the loneliest number that you'll ever do
