Was interesting to see footage of the range of local leadership attending to doing what they had to do at hand and then also Stalin with dictatorial power on top. [FairfieldLife] MAHARISHIâS TEACHINGS ON SEX
For years I believed that Maharishi was a lifelong celibate because that is what I was taught. I was surprised, really amazed when I first heard a TM teacher say she had heard he was sexually active. I knew her pretty well and she insisted it was true. When I asked her how she knew she told me her sister and brother in law, both TM teachers and Governors had assured her it was true. They had worked on national staff for some years and yet it was not first hand information. They had gotten it from a reliable source who had gotten it from the person who had it through direct experience. Third hand info was not too impressive at the time. I did run the information by another TM teacher who knew both myself and the person who told me and they didnât believe it, nor could they believe that Susie had come to believe it. So the issue was a non-issue for me until I turned up here on FFL. A brief exchange with Rick made me feel there really might be something to the allegations so I looked further, reading everything I could from and about the women involved which made me about fifty percent convinced it was true. Even though I had come to believe Maharishi was not enlightened, and that he was extremely fond of making promises in exchange for cash, I still could not quite come to believe that he had lied about that very fundamental aspect of his lifestyle. What did convince me were the similar stories from the former skin boys like Mark Landau and Billy Clayton that I came across on the internet, especially the recent BATGAP video interview with Mark Landau. Now that got me to thinking why would M preach celibacy to everyone else if he was not practicing it himself. And I came up with a couple conclusions. First, it was not cool in those days to be a guru and be sexually active, or perhaps more to the point it wasnât cool to be a guru, be sexually active and have people in general know that was the case. M had to maintain the facade that he was celibate to keep people coming to him believing he was a spiritual master. Being a spiritual master and fucking just didnât go together in those days. This became particularly important when he announced he wanted TM teachers to dress and behave conservatively so TM would appeal to the âresponsible members of societyâ meaning older, financially established people who could and would support M financially. If they had known he was dipping the wick they would never have supported him. In addition I believe he wanted to cut down on the competition. From the stories his personal secretaries have told, he would often select women from amongst those on teacher training courses or his staff â if they were being sexually active, they would be leery of cheating on their spouses or boyfriends and celibacy certainly would lead the ladies to be already horny, thus making it easier for him to get in their pants.

Carde, I thought iti means the end. Like Iti Has I thought means the end of laughter. The end as in goal rather than the end as in the cessation. So na iti would mean not the end? But,the one thing that creeps me out, is that B and C, while licking their wounds, sometimes engage in open dialogue on FFL, which is NOTHING like what they send each other privately. Anyway, the charade, nauseating as it is, is preferable, imo, to them running roughshod. [Curtis:] Are you a crazy person? Do you realize that you could not possible know this? This bears responding to. First, no, I am not a crazy person. Now, the thing to recognize about ongoing spiritual discovery is there comes a time when the mind JUST STOPS. No thoughts. Kind of like what we've all experienced in meditation. Only, this is the normal resting state of the mind, and it occurs, after some time, as a foundation for any state of consciousness; waking, dreaming and sleeping. The mind is only engaged when I want to engage it, and even then on a deep foundation of silence. When the mind is in a state of restful alertness, but no thoughts are in it, it simply reflects the truth of any situation. There is no longer any need for speculation, or conjecture, or even much thought. So when I said that your communication on FFL is nothing like what you two dweebs send each other privately, it is simply because it is obvious. No woo woo here, merely a silent mind. Thanks for the question.

I've had private communication with YOU more often than I have Curtis since August. Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: MAHARISHI’S TEACHINGS ON SEX
Also not on topic, a friend recently made a remark (now you must understand this guy is a staunch Republican, one of the few I have ever met who proudly reminds everyone he voted for Nixon and he is also pretty cynical) anyway he said that Jews are the smartest people in the world because they know you can never be quite sure who the daddy is, so they count Jewish lineage to be passed down through the maternal line. [FairfieldLife] Golden Globe Nominations
The Golden Globes are really the only awards kerfuffle I ever pay attention to, or bother to watch even excerpts of the actual presentation ceremony, for several reasons. First, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, whoever they are, have *far* better taste than the members/voters of either the Academy Awards or Emmys, and seem to have far less nepotism and backslapping going on when it comes to their choices. Second, they include both TV and movies, which neither the Oscars or Emmys do. And third, the awards ceremonies are often extremely entertaining to watch, because unlike the Oscar and Emmy get-togethers, the Golden Globes serves alcohol. This can lead to some *very* interesting acceptance speeches and actors making spectacles of themselves. :-) All that said, I'm posting this list just as a heads-up to other TV and movie fans out there, because this set of nominations -- many of them of movies that haven't come out yet -- are often the best barometer in any given year of what was worth watching and what was not. Anyone so moved can use the list to influence your viewing habits if something got nominated that you had missed and you are curious about it, or about upcoming movies. I think the whole Mary story is ripe for a feminist retelling as a tragedy. What choice did she really have when the creepy uncle of the Triune God made a play for her? Did he during what must have been a fairly clumsy seduction remind her of what he did to the dinosaurs, or was it like the greatest Justin Bieber concert display but in the end he takes her back to the dressing room? Did he at least let her finish or was it just a typical wham bam thank you mam? Did she feel obliged to fake it to sooth his monstrous ego. Oh baby, that was divine! These are the questions that swirl around my head as I gaze on my nativity. Did Mary know what he son was headed for when she signed up her uterus for this project, or was it presented like a Hollywood script with a lot of pages at the end with TBD at the top? Did her youth and inexperience, her cultural deference to men limit her ability to ask how it all ends before she signed on? What if she had told him she had a headache that night, would he have been a gentleman? And having been around a few babies in my time, when Mary changed his diaper did even the Oxen rear up their heads and lumber out of the manger grunting damn that holy guacamole is nasty! While your version of the Christmas Story is far more entertaining than most, I have to log in as saying that it still sets off my inner Occam's Razor Detector a tad too much. The reason is that it riffs off of, but still relies on, Mary's version of the Immaculate Conception. That is, that there actually *was* a human-ghost get-it-on. While there may be some anecdotal evidence of women who said that they were raped by non-physical beings, there is not a lot of evidence of anyone getting knocked up as the result of such an astral assignation. So Occam's Razor tells me that there must be a simpler -- and thus more likely -- explanation for her pregnancy. My theory revolves around the somewhat curious fact that Mary is continually referred to as a virgin. This despite the fact that she's married to this older guy, Joseph. What's up with that? Are we to assume that Joseph didn't diddle Mary because he was psychically seeing Jesus coming and didn't want to mess with a good myth? Or is it more likely that Joseph, as nice a guy as he may have been, was a little weak in the willy. A bit of erectile dysfunction, if you get what I mean. Voila. The problem of Mary's lingering virginity is solved -- Joe just couldn't get it up. So what's a young married babe (and you've seen the paint- ings of Mary...she *was* a babe) to do? She's stuck in what was probably an arranged marriage with this old fuck, and because he can't get it up she's deprived of even the sensual benefits of marriage. At this point Lem, the dim-witted but handsome and hunky stableboy next door starts looking better and better. So one day, while carpenter Joseph is off cutting wood instead of springing it, Mary sneaks next door and gets it on with Lem. You may assume that this indiscretion repeated itself or that it was a one-afternoon stand, depending on how religious you are, but eventually it resulted in Mary getting good and knocked up. So she's gotta tell Joe. What to do, what to do? Should Mary tell him the truth, and make him feel even shittier about his wilted

I think Rick's original intent with the anonymity rule was to make FFL a place to have open discussions without fear. And, there are people here who do post completely anonymously, in the spirit of that intent. I respect that. But, taking on an anonymous identity in order to troll is bullshit, especially when the person can't even be bothered to keep the anonymous identity anonymous. As I've demonstrated in the past, I do enforce the anonymity rule for people who use it legitimately. I've also been openly critical of people claiming anonymity and appealing for the rule to be enforced when they're really not actually anonymous. I've been consistent in that stance, and I'm not going to change it. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, doctordumbass@... no_reply@... wrote: No, no, no Alex. [FairfieldLife] Re: Second objective accomplished...for now
This is an excellent writing prompt for one of my favorite topics. The claim that someone can be in a mental state which has expanded abilities such as the ability to know that Barry and I are communicating offline, and even the nature of those exchanges. Comments below. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, doctordumbass@... no_reply@... wrote: But,the one thing that creeps me out, is that B and C, while licking their wounds, sometimes engage in open dialogue on FFL, which is NOTHING like what they send each other privately. ME: I'll tell you why I asked you that. You are claiming to be able to cross trans-personal boundaries between people and you seem incapable of accepting feedback that you are not being successful at this. You have separated yourself from the kind of feedback loop which is society's standard for being on the ball. I get it that you are making a case that you are in a special state of mental functioning that makes you able to function differently with regard to what information you have access to. But in this case you are completely wrong and you can't use this feedback to alter your self perception. It makes interactions with you disturbing. The mental state you are describing in activity sounds like an aberration of mental functioning even by the Maharishi paradigm standards. Although Maharishi made a claim that he was in this kind of state after Guru Dev died when he was in Uttar Kashi, I've been around him enough to know that he was a prolific thinker, workaholic level, Donald Trump planning, thinker. You: The mind is only engaged when I want to engage it, and even then on a deep foundation of silence. When the mind ME: This language pattern is what therapist use to detect dissociation. It is YOUR mind. You are either parroting TM speak here or you have an issue with dissociation. You: is in a state of restful alertness, but no thoughts are in it, it simply reflects the truth of any situation. There is no longer any need for speculation, or conjecture, or even much thought. ME: I am familiar with the theory but it hasn't panned out. Not only have Barry and I not been communicating online for months, when we did it was exactly as we do here. That is the main reason I don't feel a need to communicate with him offline, because I can always find him here and there is no need for secret conversations, we talk freely on this board. So now you have heard from both parties in your claim, that your specific claim is inaccurate. The conventional move here would be to adjust your thoery to fit the evidence. You are not doing that. This makes you at the least unpleasantly stubborn with regard to feedback and at worst unplugged from reality. You; So when I said that your communication on FFL is nothing like what you two dweebs send each other privately, it is simply because it is obvious. No woo woo here, merely a silent mind. ME: See the dweeb thing is a tell. You are using your claim to have magical mental powers as a way to elevate yourself above other people and in this case put us down. Although I believe this is your fundamental reason for maintaining this belief about your special state of mind, I take you at your word that you have made some kind of personality shift into a different style of functioning than you had before. What I am proposing here is that given that you are now getting feedback that it is not working as you believe, you may want to reconsider the belief system you are using to understand this state of mind you have found yourself in. You are not interacting here as a person who has slipped into a mental state that could be called a higher state with special abilities. You are deluding yourself about the abilities you have in this mental state. You are not only not demonstrating that this mental state is a big benefit to you, you are demonstrating the opposite, that it is not serving you well and is interfering with your interactions with others. When a person claims to have secret knowledge of my activities off this board, and I tell them that their conjecture is inaccurate, the functional response is not to double down using dissociated language to parrot Maharishi philosophy to me. It would be to say I guess I was wrong when I made that guess. It really felt to me like I was

It appears that Yahoo is revamping their email system across all platforms. They completely redesigned their Android app in similar style. Yahoo mail, as it appears in Chrome browser on my iPad, has not yet changed appearance, but my guess is that it will before too long. Re: [FairfieldLife] Golden Globe Nominations
This just made my day, thanks. First of all, the background info about various awards is useful and fascinating. But more than this. I now know there is a God. Or at least a God portion of the brain. Why? Because Moonrise Kingdom got nominated. Yay! Probably won't win over Marigold Hotel but you never know. Also cool that Meryl Streep got nominated for Hope Springs. I thought she was amazing in that plodder. Tommy Lee Jones was pretty amazing too. Realize I have to add Life of Pi to my Christmas movie list. Lincoln and Argo were already on it but I don't think Mom will go for Pi or Argo. I also like that nominees in acting categories extend a little beyond the Best Picture boundaries. Nice to spread the kudos around. Tommy Lee is also in Lincoln! Daniel Day Lewis and Tommy Lee Jones in the same movie?! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Ah, Turq, The Newsroom and Jeff Daniels got nominated. But you didn't boast. Tipping my hat to you. Well, my hoodie. Yay about Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. And last but not least, Kevin Costner in the Hatfield and the McCoys?! [FairfieldLife] Re: MAHARISHIâS TEACHINGS ON SEX
India has thousands of years of experience with both celibacy and human duplicity. If a male brahmacharin/samnyasin is alone in a room with a woman then they just had sex together. In India the samnyasin's say that a brahmacharin having sex is like eating your own vomit. This is how these gurus are judged by their peers in their own tradition and their own country. Read it and weep. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, mjackson74 mjackson74@... wrote: For years I believed that Maharishi was a lifelong celibate because that is what I was taught.

Actually Nobody Else But You has a reincarnation theme. Unlike many US thrillers the protagonist bumbles a bit. I see this trend a bit in foreign horror including Cuba's Juan of the Dead and a Spanish horror film about werewolves I recently watched. I don't think you have Showtime or you would probably enjoy Oliver Stone's Untold History of the USA. One of the preppers on this week's Doomsday Preppers on NatGeo is shown chanting with Shiva mantra and has a picture of Muktananda on the wall. It's Bob Kay who made a lot of money in the supplement industry and what's funny is his wife's reaction to the money he spends on prepping. Netflix WI is supposed to soon get Red Lights with Cillian Murphy, Sigourney Weaver and Robert DeNiro. It's about a psychic debunker played by Murphy and has a twist in it. [FairfieldLife] Re: Second objective accomplished...for now
This is an excellent writing prompt for one of my favorite topics. turquoiseb: The case can be made that many of the higher states described by Maharishi *are* psychological dissociation. snp Maharishi preached his nonsense to people who wanted to believe that their subjective experience was actually objective truth. So he told them that it could be. That was a lie, but a surprising number of people still believe that not only is this possible, but that they have achieved it. What I can't understand is why you fell for it for so many years. You shilled for MMY for what, thirteen years before you quit. Then you shilled for Rama for another ten. You must have at the time believed what they said and you parroted that crap for years. Either that, or you were an unbeliever for a long time and you just fibbed all along. For what purpose? Maybe it was all about having TMO status. Go figure. How does an atheist pretend to be on a 'spiritual' path when they don't even believe in 'spirits'? Why did it take all those years for you and Curtis to wake up? So, if you lied for all those years, why would anyone believe anything you say now about Rama being able to levitate in front of a large group? It is a natural part of our human nature, but it is a defect, a flaw in how our minds have evolved. Buying into philosophies that support the delusion that we can gain certain knowledge without any reference to feedback is one of the biggest cognitive issues I see in people into spiritual trips. I agree. And we see it here on Fairfield Life *all the time*. Judy claims to know what people were really thinking when they made posts. Robin goes even further, and equates his subjective fantasies with reality. Others here make similar pronouncements about the things they know, when in fact they only believe them. And there's almost never an IMO or an in my opinion or a I believe... in the batch. These pronouncements are almost always made as if they spring from some fountain of Eternal Truth. The fact that they *cannot tell the difference* between belief and objective reality is for me the biggest tell that Maharishi did these people an *enormous* disservice. They now not only think in ways that any psychologist or psychiatrist would describe as a disorder, they're *proud* of the disorder, and flaunt it as if it were a badge of honor, their version of a CC or GC or UC merit badge. Yeah, so why are you always claiming to have 'walked the walk'? Being a fibber and taking money from poor people with claims of 'enlightenment in 5-7 years', or in Rama's case, 'instant enlightenment' is either deceptive, or you really did believe people could fly up in the air and you apparently still do. LoL!

[FairfieldLife] Sthapatya Veda is just a Placebo Effect
It is sorry to see people in Skelmersdale working to make a whole new Sthapatya-vedic village, wasting all the effort to build a community, including a Golden Dome, with the idea that much good will come of it. We all want to believe that Maharishi is 100% correct. But we have also seen Veda Land fail, Deepak Chopra going off on his own, tallest building in the world in the center of India, and other failed projects and mistakes. We tend to forget about these. He does not have to be 100% correct to be the wisest man on Earth. 90%, or even 80%, is still WAY above everyone else. If the Brits are looking to Fairfield Iowa as an example of SV success think again. Telegroup was doing fine, as one of the top 1% of American businesses, until they established their headquarters in a new SV building. They not only did NOT succeed, they started going bankrupt. Telegroup went from hiring over 400 employees, to hiring zero - even though it is in an industry that has flourished, telecommunications. Same with Global Link, and other companies in Fairfield that put their faith in SV. MUM tore down about 15 pod dormitories that were in good shape because the were not SV. They had to have a fund raiser to tear them down. There was no massive influx of students - mainly visa seeking foreign students who don't seem to really care about the meditation. There is not enough housing, so many have to live off campus, and tend to be less on the program. It would have been better to keep the pods, and get the revenue for the rooms for the students. There is not enough money to build replacement housing. There are just empty fields there. If something is going to work, it will show results. We have given SV about 20 years to show that it works. There is not a single scientific article published about it, much less its success. People would have noticed, in thousands of years, if facing east really brought success or if south did not. When does the Sun go from being good at sunrise in the east to being bad around noon in the south? The whole sun-based logic is not internally consistent. SV is just a placebo effect. If you think it works, it does. If you don't think it works, you are also right. Skelmersdale, save your time and money. Build on what you have already achieved. Maharishi's TM, TM-Sidhis Program, and Super Radiance do work, and have scientific research behind them. Sadly SV does not work. We should face the truth and judge knowledge by its fruits. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Michael Jackson mjackson74@... wrote: Quite simply you don't know what you are talking about - as to feng shui, even a cursory examination of the multitude of feng shui resources will show that in feng shui south facing entrances can be quite positive. Someone told Maharishi early on that feng shui had good things to say about a south facing entrance and thus in classic Mahastyle he bad mouthed all south facing entrances to distinguish MAHARISHI sthapatya veda from feng shui, really hamming it up as to how much woe and bad fortune would accrue if you don't get a MAHARISHI vastu veda design. And he did this to frighten people into using only HIS brand of architecture to, of course increase his revenue. As I have stated here before, if one looks at other vastu veda web sites that are not connected to the Movement, you will see that most of them address the issue of south facing entrances by saying that there are some (unnamed) people who claim an east facing entrance is the only one that is viable and acceptable and that this assertion in not true in all circumstances. These are people who have been studying and practicing vastu veda far longer than Big M ever did. Maha didn't contribute a damn thing to vastu veda except to treat it like all the Hindu/Vedic stuff he promoted over the years, tried to make out like he was the one who either invented it or revitalized it and brought it back into its full glory. They are all *superb* actors, and I would pay to see anything any of them are in just because they're in it. But there are three other movie actor nominations in this list that I adore. The first is Richard Gere, for Arbitrage. I saw the movie, and agree that this is one of his strongest performances ever, which is saying a lot. He is an actor who should get a *lot* more credit than he's gotten. The second is Bill Murray, nominated for his performance in Hyde Park. I happen to believe that Bill Murray is a *far* more talented actor than he has been given credit for. He was tremendous in Ghostbusters, but also in his supposed breakout dramatic role in The Razor's Edge. He was *great* in that part, and got panned for it because all of the critics were expecting him to be his SNL characters. He was also tremendous in Groundhog Day and Lost In Translation and in a couple of great Wes Anderson movies, The Royal Tennenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom. I have not seen his new movie yet, but I look forward to seeing it, and congratulate him on his nomination. The third, of course, is Judy Dench, nominated for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, but equally as memorable this year for her work as M in Skyfall, arguably the Best James Bond Movie Ever, with her cast as -- at age 78 -- the Best Bond Girl Ever. When it comes to television, suffice it to say that my favorite five American TV series coincide with their choices for the top five Best TV Series - Drama. Yes, I am somewhat happy to see The Newsroom be one of those five, but the other four are all excellent, too. I am also happy to see Jeff Daniels nominated for Best Actor in that series, but I suspect/hope he's going to lose to Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad. That man blazed new trails this year in the territory that an actor can traverse. While I am happy to see Michelle Dockery from Downton Abbey nominated because I have almost as large a woody for her as I have for her co-star Joanne Froggatt, I have to admit that Claire Danes in Homeland is hard to beat. Her portrayal of a dedicated patriot spy trying her best to protect her nation and the people she loves while dealing with bipolar disorder is nothing short of jaw-dropping. The *only* more effective portrayal of a psychological disorder I have seen onscreen in this past year was obviously not eligible, because it hasn't played in the U.S. yet. That was Sofia Helin in Denmark's Bron/Broen (The Bridge). Her portrayal of a homicide detective with Asperger's Syndrome still blows all other actresses' performances of the year out of the water for me. I loved seeing Benedict Cumberbatch being nominated for his work in Sherlock, if for no other reason than payback after all these years of being stuck with that name. :-) All in all, I suspect that the awards presentation should be an interesting evening, and I for one am definitely going to tune in, albeit the next day for me, because it won't be carried live by any Dutch TV channels, and thus I'll have to wait for it to download the next morning. Oh, the suffering of being a pirate in a pirate-friendly country. :-)

Well Ann as I said to Curtis in my original post, I probably wasn't saying it right. And I'm still no clearer about it than I was when I wrote the post to Curtis so am unable to clarify. I've discovered that Curtis is often open to talking about himself and what he does and feels and bounces things back and forth on the court in a way which is worth addressing. So, it can make for some productive conversations. I would have been a bit dismayed if you had found the dialogues offensive from my end because in no way was I attempting to attack Curtis in any way. He can take as good as he can give anyway. Funny that you found our posts hard to understand. There needed to be some clarifications on a couple of points but other than that I thought they were pretty straight forward. Thanks for your response though I am unsure what you meant by (especially) the second sentence. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to but I would be interested in you expanding on these ideas or perceptions, or in fact, anything you want to talk about at all. He compares the brain to radio in that the human brain experiences consciousness. However, it is not the source of consciousness. This clip and part 2 of this topic explains his point of view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17u5xrTdSJc

Gee, you're stupid, laughinggull. Feste too. But you're *really* stupid. This is my 50th post for the week, so you have until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow to decide whether you want me to document your stupidity publicly, or you'd rather just quietly forget you ever said anything. You might want to do a little reviewing all by yourself before you make that decision. --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, laughinggull108 no_reply@... wrote: --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, authfriend authfriend@ wrote: --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, Share Long sharelong60@ wrote: Well Ann as I said to Curtis in my original post, I probably wasn't saying it right. And also, I suspect there are quite a few other inaccuracies in the past few days which will need to be addressed. These should not be given a free pass. Someone needs to step up to the plate for this, and I think you would be best person. Let me know if I can help.

And given myself away how, oh Laughing One? That I thought I was being negative? No, I do not think it nor was it my intention. Curtis and I were having an adult and civilized conversation and hence I was surprised that Share thought it was negative from my side. You might want to do a little reviewing all by yourself before you make that decision. Ladies and gentleman of the jury, have you reached a decision? You ARE quick. Yes we have your honor. We find the defendant, Judith Stein guilty of hypocrisy, nonsensical parsing, and being totally unable to own up to her obvious mistakes Isn't it fun to be both judge and jury Steve? In a world of make believe you can be anyone you want to be. You can create the story as you see fit, you can live out all your fantasies and work through your scenarios of revenge. How great is that? (Plus how can anyone own up to anything when they can't post?) And what do you recommend for punishment? Your honor, we recommend that the defendant's posting priviledges be suspended until sunset Friday, December 14th What's a 'privi-ledge'? Can one jump off of it and fly? Well, I must say it is a light sentence in light of her repeated offenses. Keep dreaming, what comes next? Yes your honor, she is repeat offender, but as you are aware, the sentencing guidelines are quite strict in this regard. Ah yes. Until such time the guidelines are amended, this is the maximum penalty allowed by law. Let's get Buck on this, he'll have some significant penalties to dish out. Thank you, your honor No, no thank YOU!

Who said he was the wisest man on earth? Anyone who can convince people their houses are making them ill by virtue of not facing the right direction and then taking a 10% cut on all the replacements sounds pretty smart to me.
