[FairfieldLife] What is the TMO's concept of 'Heaven on Earth'?

2012-12-27 Thread seekliberation
I was just thinking, i've spent a lot of time arguing, pointing out faults, and
trying to correct certaing unrealistic points of view with my family members,
friends, and even a few people on this forum regarding the creation of Heaven
on Earth. But then I realizedperhaps we just have conflicting views of
what Heaven on Earth is really going to be like, and therefore it's pointless
to argue.

For example, I believe that we could do a lot more to make this world more
conducive to life, spirituality, learning, and education. But just because
those areas have improved doesn't mean we have 'Heaven on Earth'. But that
also depends on what concept we consider 'heaven on earth'.

After my interaction with most die hard TMO TB's over the years, I am convinced
that their conception of heaven on earth is pretty much a Disney movie, but
with no villians. Everyone will be skipping in the fields, singing songs like
in the 'sound of music' and holding hands together. No one will have to work
(at least not hard), no more weapons, no one will ever get hurt, we will all
live longer, no one will get sick (very rarely at least), and basically, every
single experience in life that is difficult or challenging will go away. It
will become a thing of the past. Difficulties, challenges, strife, and
personal conflict will be over.

I simply wonder sometimes if the TMO has ever really explained what they really
mean by Heaven on Earth? Do they really advertise that there will be no war,
no violence some day? No more theft, fraud, cheating or lying? All these
negative qualities will just disappear? That seems to be the perception and
that I get when discussing what HOE will be like if it happens.

Anyone here have any experience in the TMO actually defining HOE?

Funny Ann (I think it's true) and by the way Alex, you stole my line.  I was
just logging on to say this exact, very, thing and I'm not kidding (minus the
genitalia bit so you get an extra point for creativity). I mean "rubber" is

Hey Bob, whatever my imagined past with you, you have got the best of me with
this one - "...if you went all Roshi on me...". Read it earlier today and
started laughing my (dumb)ass off! Always wanting to recheck my homework - I
read it again just now, with the same result.

Accordingly, this has now entered my vocabulary buffer, for later expression
(and possible minor modification, strictly for context...) - A high honor
indeed, due to my *extremely* limited, unused and/or abused cerebral capacity.
Akashic almost! :-) Thanks for the gem!!

Dogs may be short on words, but they're logical and highly dharmic, thus
enjoying great Support of Nature. There's no greater evidence of this Truth

I think it might have to do with the dog feeling the intention of the person
who wrapped their gifts. Those people who are the kind of dog lovers who not
only buy but wrap their dog's gifts have some mighty strong loves vibes going
on, it gets into the wrapping paper you know. Would you agree Share?

[FairfieldLife] Nine countries in Latin America implementing Transcendental Meditation and YF

2012-12-27 Thread nablusoss1008
Published Date: 23 Dec, 2012 (8:34 AM)
Restructuring the Apocalypse:
8,000 Mayan, Zapotec, and Mixtec Students Meditate for World Peace
to Create the End of the [War-torn] World

With much media fanfare worldwide, the Mayan calendar came to an end on
21 December 2012, with far-flung predictions of global apocalypse. But
most of us are still here, so perhaps the "end of the world" was in fact
a new beginning – the end of the world as we know it, and the dawn
of a new and more enlightened age.

On that apocalyptic day, 8,000 young children – descendants of the
Mayans, Mixtec, Zapotec, and other indigenous tribes – gathered at
Monte Alban, a sacred mountain of the Zapotec people in southern Mexico,
to meditate together for world peace. Around the world, people of all
ages, cultures, and religions participated with them in simultaneous
group practice of the non-religious Transcendental Meditation® (TM)
program and its advanced TM-Sidhi program, both founded by the late
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. In Latin American military circles, this
collective TM practice by large groups of peace-creating experts is
known as the Invincible Defense Technology (IDT) due to its
scientifically confirmed ability to neutralize the destabilizing
influence of collective stress, held to be the root cause of terrorism,
war, and violent crime.

  [baseline]

These young Mexican children, along with many students in other Latin
America countries, had been trained in these peace-creating technologies
for approximately eight months. Their gathering at Monte Alban was a
demonstration to the world of the effectiveness of these technologies in
defusing social violence and "averting the danger that has not yet come"
– a principle of collective coherence drawn from the ancient Yoga
Sutras.

Is this gathering something out of a "New Age" science fiction thriller?
No. This unusual defense strategy really works. It is advocated by the
Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP, http://www.gusp.org
), a coalition of Nobel laureates and leading
scientists who see it as the best way to avert the growing threats of
nuclear proliferation, terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction; to
create national security in every country; and to establish lasting
world peace. John Hagelin, Ph.D., a renowned Harvard-trained quantum
physicist who heads this group, says, "In recent years, [this] powerful,
innovative approach to peace has been extensively field-tested – in
the Middle East and throughout the world. The consistent result has been
dramatic reductions in terrorism, war, and social violence. These
findings have been replicated, published in leading academic journals,
and endorsed by hundreds of independent scientists and scholars. The
efficacy of this approach is beyond question." [An Op-Ed piece:
"Reducing Tension in the Middle East" was recently published worldwide
advocating this approach.]

  [baseline]

According to Luis Intof Alvarez, the organizer of the Monte Alban
gathering, the advanced TM-Sidhi practice has been taught to 8,000
students in 54 schools in southern Mexico and Guatemala during just the
past weeks. With over 250 Latin American schools now participating in
this program, at least 20,000 students will be collectively practicing
these peace-creating technologies by this time next year. Alvarez says
that our world leaders now have a choice. Which direction do we want to
take: continued violence or creating peace?

His point is made more vivid by the tragic recent events at the Sandy
Hook elementary school in Newton, Connecticut, USA. Throughout the U.S.,
students in schools and colleges continue to be the victims of senseless
violence. By contrast, the Mayan and other tribal students throughout
Latin America are creating peace, not only within themselves but also on
a much grander scale – for their schools, cities, and nation as a
whole.

  [baseline]

Latin American students in both civilian and military schools are
learning and applying this strategy. Currently, at least nine Latin
American countries are soon due to have fully operational peace-creating
groups in military and/or educational settings. Military leaders
worldwide will soon be surprised to learn that students can actually do
a much better, safer, and more effective job of protecting their nations
with an advanced TM meditation practice than with expensive hi-tech
military weaponry. Informed Latin American leaders, especially those now
in charge of military schools, have already deployed this approach.
Lieutenant General José Martí Villamil, a pioneering former
Vice-Minister of Defense for Ecuador, first conducted a military
field-test during their war with Peru in the early 1990s, with promising
results.

In the past, in non-Latin American countries, field tests of these
coherence-creating groups achieved measurable positive results that were
also apparent from news reports. In trouble spots, violence and war
deaths subsided, peace negotiations improved

Interesting, I certainly look forward to the full film.
However, the interesting part will start when scientists start full cooperation
with our Spacebrothers face to face. Our Spacebrothers certainly wants this to
happen and are willing to give us new amazing technologies. What prevents this
from happening is Pentagon who is ready to order the shoot-down of any "UFO".
Accidentally, did I mention that Benjamin Creme mentions 3 places on earth
where the forces that were driven underground as a result of WWII has
reappeared ? The third place is indeed Pentagon.

That's neat Share. I am sure that gave you a perspective few of us get.
I have been operating under the impression that the Chinese students who
attended MUM were just looking for entree into the US and benefits
offered, and had no real interest in the academic program offered by the
University. I have nothing really to base that on. It sounds like I may
be mistaken.

Also, it's been my understanding that Chinese culture is still centered
to a large part on Confuciunism That would imply a dharmic culture in
my opinion.

Also, I don't know if the Chinese people would be considered "spiritual"
as someone brought up, but I do believe they are highly superstitious,
as are many, if not most Asian cultures.

OMG...look what we have to suffer through.  This is so soporific.  Barry,
please move Bob, at the very least, or Robin (whoever the hell this post is
from - you can figure it out, smart fellow that you are) to the category with
Ravi and I (and that weird guy Willy).  Buck should remain in a category by
himself.  Now, for you Barry, because I love you too, is a cute JRT story.

We bought the little dog a couple of presents...a squirrel and a small squeaky
football.  My older daughter, unbeknownst to me, wrapped them and hid them
under the tree.  I was up late, as usual, wrapping presents on Christmas Eve
and again Christmas morning.  When I was out of the room on Christmas morn,
little dog, sneaky dog that she is, politely rummaged through the presents.  I
walked in to see her sitting on the couch (on her towel) with her squirrel in
front of her and the wrapping paper off to the side, looking expectantly up at
me.  The ball was nearby, half-unwrapped.  Can you believe that she only pulled
her own presents out?  What a smart dog, what a polite dog, what a festive dog.
If my kids hadn't absconded with my camera charger, or if I had a smart phone,
I would have taken a picture and posted it for you.  I think I should train
this one for movies.  She should earn her keep and save me from my fate in the
workforce.

Although, turns out a cousin of my ex's worked in Dubai the last two years and
if I didn't have a teenager and a little dog, I would put forth great effort to
work there.   Very multicultural.  The police drive Mercedes Benz's.  He loved
it...he made lots of moneyhe said he'd hook me up.  He made 3.5 times what
he would have made here in the U.S. Options, man, options.

Bathtubs and sesame oil..I vaguely remember...bubbles and bathtubs, hmmm, I
never sent pictures to you of that!  Alright, is this a hint that someone
shared those pics?

Spitting...blowing bubbles?

[FairfieldLife] I love the man from Holland (was Happy Christmas FFL)

2012-12-27 Thread Bob Price
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leohcvmf8kM

Barry,

Please ignore these ungrateful wretches, I'm not like them; I know how much
love and effort you've
put into our edification this past year, and I love you for it; I know how much
you've sacrificed to make us better human beings, and I'm ashamed how
ungrateful they are. I know how many other things you could be doing with your
time; watching TV, walking the dogs, writing manuals, and visiting Beavis and
Butthead; not to mention spending more quality time with Maya and your modern
family.

I know what its like to give till you have no more to give and the ingrates
you're trying to help just
don't get it (makes you wonder about this whole bodhisattva thing); they don't
understand how hard it is to be as beautiful as you are, to be as good a person
as you are; I know you know this, you show it to me everyday, and I would never
have figured it out without your help.

You see Barry, I really have fallen in love with you, not that platonic love I
used to feel for Curtis,
no, not that tepid tea, the real stuff, with all its messiness. And I don't
know what I'd do if you gave up on us and stayed with Beavis and Butthead;
frankly (please don't think this sounds like stalking), if you left I would
have to move to Holland, and do whatever was in my power to find you, and serve
you in any small way I could; and if you went all Roshi on me, and hit me with
a stick or called the police, I would know it was just a test and your way of
teaching me the real meaning of love.

I know I have a lot to learn from you, but from what I feel today, on the day
after Boxing Day 2012, I
know I've made an incredible start, and I could not have done it without you.

If only the others could see and understand what I've found on this mountain of
my love for you; I
know what they say about you is not true, your post was not Barry's Christmas
enemies list; I know it's a Christmas *love and affection* list, like a wallop
from the great cane of the Roshi of Ryoan-ji; producing welts of love and
affection as deep as the resting place of the Titanic.

Please stay Barry; Beavis and Butthead don't deserve you as much as we do;
please give us another chance,
and please ignore what they say about your message view; that it's shaped like
the derriere of that fine young lady who begged you to message her behind; I
know its not true that she was a lap dancer and you've likely been banned from
the Yum Yum for stiffing (sorry, I know you could never stiff anybody) the
dancers for their gratuities.

I don't think what they say about you is true; that you have no life beyond
your manuals, pirated TV,
and FFL (I also don't believe its true that "Maya" is an imaginary
friend, and her name is one of your more inspired unintended ironies---I know
Maya exists!).

I also don't believe them when they cruelly say you are a compulsive name
dropper who never

met one of Tim Leary's ex-wives.

I'm sure the angels shed a tear every time that Judy woman hurts your feelings;
she's a piece
of work and I for one want nothing else to do with her; I love you Barry.

Please ignore Obba; she's doesn't know how to speak to a real man like you.

And please ignore Emily; she doesn't deserve the hand of loving kindness you've
extended to her (the fact
she would give some old Jack Russell a home says everything you need to know
about her).

And Ann, what can I say about her, she's obviously one of these
women that has far too much education for her own good, and lives by that old
maxim "the more I know about Barry, the more I love my horses".

I just can't believe how cruel these women are to you, with everything you've
done for them; I'm
hoping that the tiny point of light that I am can somehow make up for them, and
convince you to stay; I think its cruel for them to say that when you go
through this vale of tears FFL will pass before your eyes; I have no doubt
there is a special place in the after life for you, and these women
are all going to hell if they don't straighten up and begin to
understand what you're trying to do for them.

I only have one favor to ask, I know it's a lot to ask with the way you've been
treated around here
lately, but would it be at all possible to include me on Bucks list; I really
do not want to be associated with that Judy woman and all the heart ache she's
brought you. I know it's a lot to ask, but please give it some serious
consideration; with your help, I've changed.

Happy New Year, please don't give up on us, you've helped me to get real and
get honest with myself; all
my journey and suffering could never have gotten me anywhere near where you've
taken me in the last 18 months; thank you, I love you.

Your friend,

Robin

Please post and circulate widelySirius Film update

Many of you have been asking when the film will be finished and available.
Please let us clarify. The campaign to raise money for the production just
ended on December 5. We thank all of you so much for your enthusiastic
contributions. But that is not the end of the work. We are awaiting the
results of the genetic testing on the little 6 inch being. That testing is
being done by a scientist top in his field in a major US university. He has
ordered specialized equipment and materials to obtain the most accurate results
possible and the timing is out of our control. We feel this would be a
powerful addition to the film and await his results . When he has them he will
be filmed discussing his findings. We anticipate the Sirius film will be ready
for initial release late winter/ early spring 2013.Listed below are the
promised incentive gifts and the deliver dates that were listed as estimated
dates on the kickstarter site when we started the campaign.$5 donation -
newsletter & featurette prior to film release - June 2012 - We have been
providing updates at least 2 x / month via this newsletter. The featurette will
be available around the time of the release of the film.$11 donation - access
to on line director's cut - July 2013. We are already investigating the best
way to get this to you online. You will be notified when we have it. Of course
the film has to be finished to give you the director's cut.$35 donation - DVD
sent to your home in US (outside US requires additional shipping and you will
be notified). - August 2013. We certainly hope to have this DVD to you before
August and have a company lined up to manufacture the DVDs and send them out to
you. We will be asking you for address confirmation about a month before
shipping.$70 donation - digital poster and 15 minute on line video - April 2013
- We are working on the design and the best way to get this to you.$100
donation - webinar - July 2012 - We had a wonderfully well attended
webinar.$250 donation - autographed copy of "Hidden Truth - Forbidden
Knowledge" - October 2012 - These have been sent out.$500 donation - 2 tickets
to the Premiere - June 2013 - We are looking at venue possibilities so we will
be ready to make the arrangements as soon as we have the finished film. We will
be contacting you when we have a date as we will need to know exactly how many
people will be coming.$1500 donation - dinner with cast and crew - June 2013 -
We are beginning the planning. This date and venue, of course, is dependent on
the date and venue for the Premiere itself.$6,500 donation - 3 day CE-5 Contact
Expedition - October 2013 - We are planning the 2013 schedule to include a 3
day workshop/expedition and will notify those who have donated at this
level.$10,000 donation - private dinner with Dr. Greer - January 2013 - All
those who have made this level of donation have been contacted and some have
already enjoyed dinner with Dr. Greer.$25,000 donation - CE-5 Expedition in US
- Those eligible have been contacted.$50,000 donation - UK Crop Circle
Expedition - Those eligible have been contacted. The filmmakers have the names
for the credits for the various levels of donation and will incorporate those
in the final version.Dr. Greer will be presenting this trailer at a reception
at SundanceWednesday January 23 from 5 pm - 7pm at Ciceros - 306 Main St.

Jack,
So, there weren't a thousand pundits here. Or 8500 Mayans. The potential is
so great and yet it is distressing that they are not making or able to make a
clean break from the past when the movement hyperbole still does this stuff.
What to be expected with a same people in charge around Bevan. Though it looks
like even the local movement PR people themselves got had by the Latin American
TM movement Mayan myth. Even out-foxed. I got told that morning with some very
certainty at the Peace Palace group meditation that there were 8,000 who got on
the buses that morning for the mountain there.

Wow. That was very powerful Nabby. I am in aweseeing the emotions she
conveys with her art.
What I had in mind was more on these lines:

I have had the good fortune of seeing this groupseveral times as the
local arts council sponsors a visit every 3 years or so. Turq has prolly
seen them as they are a favorite with the Santa Fe crowd.
It is quite a thing to experience from beginning to end.

Yes, this is really nice. This is Brahman Consciousness, or when unity matures
by loss of sense of identity. In this state absolute and relative are
indistinguishable, completely merged, although that is a story for the sake of
teaching, because they were always completely merged.

Try installing the updates one at a time manually. There are occasional
problems, where the order of installation can bolix things. Patch Tuesday, the
second Tuesday is the usual day these fixes are available, but the
notifications or automatic install sometimes take until Wednesday to get to
everyone. There are also occasional out-of-band patches for important security
fixes.

We do. :-) I can take credit for introducing her to 3 of these 5 tea
party guests. The Buck-Buck (the funky chicken now showing signs
of wear and stuffing deflation after several years of cuddling) is from
Spain, found in a street market there. The two classic dragons are
from the Netherlands, although separated by several years in the
time in which they were found. The Pterordactyl is new for Xmas,
and T-Rex has been transformed into Parisian T-Rex by applying
Maya's pirate eyepatch to his head as a beret. He now speaks with
a French accent, as does she when she plays with him. No shit. :-)

I went through a phase like that pre-school. Dinosaurs and insects with
me. Remember those little yellow books stuffed with such information?
I had the one for dinosaurs and the one for insects and wanted to be an
"entomologist" when I grew up (and actually used that word). Even had
insect collections in cigar boxes. Couldn't find any dinosaurs to make
a collection though. :

I found it worked best for me to reset the default and only allow windows to
alert me as to updates, and I choose when to install - sometimes if there are a
boatload to install it screws up, so I install a few at a time.

More importantly make sure all non-windows updates are done first, like any
peripheral updates and BIOS updates, then try the windows updates.

Nowadays, I only practice
octaplegic yoga ... the limbless identity of awareness with itself.

Gaudapada called it "asparsha yoga" the "intangible yoking", because it has no
"other".
"Awareness unidentified
with conceptual constructs and unborn is declared to be non-different from the
object of that awareness, which is Brahman. Thus unborn Brahman becomes
manifest through unborn awareness. The awareness in question is not like that
in deep sleep; in deep sleep the mind becomes oblivious, whereas in the
awareness of a quiescent mind the light of awareness shines forth free of
fear, shining on all sides as Brahman. This kind of awareness is unborn,
without sleep or dream, without name of form, all-knowing at once, of the
essence of all. It is not a mere metaphor."

[FairfieldLife] Message View and how potential employers read your resume/CV

2012-12-27 Thread turquoiseb
It just occurred to me, having spent some time in
Human Resources prior to moving into the computer science
field, that there is something that many people don't
understand about the things that they write. And this
misunderstanding starts with their resume, or CV if
they are from Europe or the UK.

This document supposedly represents Who You Are, in the
"Pay attention to me because I'm really cool" mode of
communication. So do many posts made to the Internet.

The thing is, many people who *read* them are in the
"Let's get through this as fast as we can" mode of
communication.

It's morning. You're an HR person at a company and you've
just arrived at work. If you're lucky, you've had coffee
first. On your desk, placed there the night before by the
secretary you're pretty sure works in her off hours as a
Dominant in S&M clubs, is an enormous pile of resumes.
You put the large pile in front of you, and you start
reading, *looking for reasons to put them in one of two
sub-piles*. This is the "first pass," after all, the
only purpose of which is to determine the contents of
the two sub-piles, titled (if they had titles, being so
far just empty spaces on your desk and all) "No Way"
and "OK, damnit...I'll Read This One."

You who are now or have in the past been searching for
employment may not like to hear this, but that is exactly
how your resume/CV is read on its "first pass." The HR folks
are *trained* to read them that way. On the "first pass"
read, ALL that they are looking for is reasons to put the
resume on the "No Way" pile. If you wind up in that pile,
you get a computer-generated "Thanks, but no thanks" letter,
if that. Most of the time you just never hear from the
company again. It's only the resumes/CVs in the second pile
that ever get read, and thus ever get entertained as even
possible candidates for employment.

I once worked with a consultant at ILOG/IBM who had the best
track record I've ever heard of when it came to getting
interviews as the result of sending in a blind resume/CV:
100 fucking percent.

How did he do this? He put in the Summary of his work exper-
ience (the only thing he could be assured that people would
read), "Oh, and I've been struck by lightning...that was
interesting."

It was even true. He HAD been struck by lightning. And he
was more than willing to tell you about it if you called him
in for an interview. Voila. 100% resume-to-interview rate.
Most people score more in the low 10-20% percentiles on the
resume-to-interview scale.

On the Internet, in talk forums, it's really no different.

People chide me for my Message View approach to reading FFL.
But that's my "first pass" read-through of the discussion
group, and I don't feel bad about approaching FFL that way
because -- as it did when I was an HR person -- it saves Me
time, and time is the one thing we can never get back.

If your post never gets read on the "first pass," suck it up.
That's just the way things are. If you managed to throw in
some good sucker bait and got me to click on your post, that
is only the "second pass," for which there are two similar
piles waiting on my virtual desk. For most posts I don't get
more than a dozen lines into them before they get consigned
to the second-tier "No Way" pile.

So if I wind up reading it and replying to it, I might
actually have read it. Or I might have read just enough to
interest me in sending off a reply.

Either way, that doesn't mean you're either going to get
the job, or the kind of reply you were hoping for...

:-)

It is also important to note that the observer's/scientist's/explorer's ability
to figure out what he was seeing when he was watching the penguins and to have
enough knowledge to interpret what the birds were up to, as well as to put it
into a context that incorporated the known reasons for wildlife to do what they
do, is vital. There was a mention in the article about the natural instinct of
the male penguin to be attracted to submissive females and dying or injured
female birds would fall into this category. With horses, the mare will only
allow a stallion to mount her if she is ovulating, no other time and that is
only about 3-4 days a month. Nature has designed it so that the only time a
mare will have sex is when she is likely to get pregnant. If that poor stallion
tries any funny business any other time he will meet with violent failure! It
is most likely the case for these birds as well. So, although mating with an
injured or dying or dead bird appears aberrational it is most likely a function
of seeking submissive mates because submissive birds are fertile birds.

FWIW, "PJ" (or, perhaps rather: PA) introduces the eight (aSTau)
limbs (an.gaani) as a dvandva compound, like this:

yamaniyamAsanaprANAyAmapratyAhAradhAraNAdhyAnasamAdhayo.aSTAvan.gAni .. 29.

(Without sandhi:

yama-niyama+aasana-prANAyAma-pratyAhAra-dhAraNA-dhyAna-samAdhayaH*; aSTau;
an.gAni .. 29.)

Had he instead of a compound word used individual words, that
suutra might have looked something like this:

yamo niyama AsanaM prANAyAmaH pratyAhAro dhAraNA dhyAnam samAdhish
cAShTAva~NgAni .. 29.

* in a dvandva of more than two components, the last one is in
plural, in this case the nominative:
samaadhayaH [<- samaadhai-aH]instead of samaadhiH!

Hi John, I've been thinking about all my wonderful Chinese connections over the
years;  in my last job at MUM as Distance Education Coordinator in the Computer
Science Dept I worked with many Chinese students and found them to be very
bright and independent, tenacious and courteous; a long time friend is Chinese
though from Malaysia; good friends have taught in China, she as an ESL teacher
and he as a professor of Art History; indirectly heard that LB loved his time
teaching ESL in China; an acquaintance who's lived in China for years simply
because he finds the women beautiful; and my first love who studied with a Tai
Chi master in China and sent me extraordinary photos of his time there.

RD,

Your research is excellent. But the article shows that someone made money in
the deal, albeit illegally by corrupt officials. In the end, the ones who
suffer are the people of China who have to put up with their communist
government.

This is the point I'm trying to say. The communists believe in human labor and
productivity and ignore any spiritual concepts, like the support of Nature in
the lives of people, which ultimately lead to human misery.

But the mere fact that they completed the project shows that something good was
done inspite of the unhappiness that it caused the people. IMO, there was the
support of Nature at work, even though the Communists don't believe in such an
idea.

This quote is often referenced hereabouts. I'm afraid it
doesn't float my boat. Back, back in the day might it not
have "agreed with your reason and your own common sense" that
the Sun goes round the Earth?

Then again, if you do agree with the sentiment of the quote,
isn't the *worst* way to make your point to wheel out a quote
from an authority (Buddha)?

And is it a fake quote anyway?
http://www.fakebuddhaquotes.com/believe-nothing-no-matter-where-you-read-it/

"Now, Kalamas, don't go by reports, by legends, by traditions,
by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies,
by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the
thought, 'This contemplative is our teacher.' When you know for
yourselves that, 'These qualities are skillful; these qualities
are blameless; these qualities are praised by the wise; these
qualities, when adopted & carried out, lead to welfare & to
happiness' — then you should enter & remain in them."

i.e. Do *not* acquiesce in the infallibilty of your
own reasoning (logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies).
And perhaps throttle back on the epistemological narcissism and
pay due heed to the "wise"!

[FairfieldLife] Benjamin Creme on the New Kalki Age, american elections

2012-12-27 Thread nablusoss1008

Questions and Answers – a selection

December 2012

Q. Would it be accurate to say that the world has entered a new phase?

A. Yes – the world has entered a new phase. The dark age of Kali
Yuga is over. Our solar system is now beginning the Aquarian experience
(lasting approximately 2,500 years). Aquarius's energy is the energy
of synthesis. This will bring humanity together into a unity completely
different from the situation of today.

Q. Four years ago violence flared up yet again between Israel and
Palestine. It was just before elections were due to take place in
Israel. Obviously there is fault on both sides; perhaps this is cynical
- but could it be that the violence has been provoked deliberately, with
an eye on the forthcoming elections?

A. Yes. There is a growing sentiment among the ordinary people of Israel
for an agreed two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian problem. The
Israeli government seems to turn automatically to aggression against the
Palestinians when an election which might change the course of Israeli
politics is due.

Q. The US election results had not all been counted when videos were
circulated on the internet showing how one voter trying to vote for
President Obama had his repeated attempts corrupted into a vote for
Romney. How many states had instances of vote rigging?

A. Five.

Q. (1) Did vote tampering take place in the recent US presidential
election? (2) If so, what would the real results have been – without
vote tampering and other tricks, such as attempts by some Republican
state leaders to suppress the number of people trying to vote?

A. (1) 6 per cent on the Republican side and 3 per cent on the Democrat
side. (2) The difference in votes between Obama and Romney would have
been still more in favour of President Obama. President Obama won
anyway, but it would have been by a larger margin.

Q. Given the huge amounts of money spent on the US election by outside
interest groups, mainly on the Republican side, could the generally
positive election results for Democrat candidates be considered a
victory of people power over the power of money?

A. Yes.

Q. What does the US election say, if anything, about the general state
of consciousness of America and its receptivity to Maitreya's
priorities?

A. America as a whole, and that means all the black, Hispanic, etc,
voters are fundamentally on the right side – the side that is more
closely aligned with Maitreya's priorities – and it is that side
which will save America.

Q. On 29 October 2012 Hurricane Sandy made landfall on the east coast of
the United States, causing death and much destruction. (1) Was this
storm the result of (a) global warming (b) man's destructive thought
patterns and/or (c) karma? (2) If karma played a part, may I ask for
what exactly?

A. (1) Yes, all three. (2) The USA is responsible for a quarter of the
world's pollution.

Q. The wealthiest 400 people in America now own more wealth than the
bottom 150 million Americans. (1) Is this accurate? (2) What is your
response to this?

A. (1) More or less. (2) It is of course outrageous – it is similar
throughout the world and is crying out for change. It is the source of
greatest unhappiness and social discord in the world.

Q. British Prime Minister David Cameron has been in the Middle East
selling arms; he was wearing a poppy – the annual symbol of
remembrance for all British war dead. He justified the arms trade saying
that all countries have a right to self-defence. Your comment, please?

A. The selling of fighter aircraft to Saudi Arabia has nothing to do
with self-defence. The selling of arms is one of the greatest upholders
of war.

Q. What is the ideal number of hours people should work in a week? How
soon in the future will work be reduced to a more reasonable number of
hours per week? How many workdays a week would the ideal be? I recently
read an article in Share International about the importance of leisure;
we don't have any leisure now.

A. The future evolution of humanity depends on greater and yet greater
leisure. We are moving towards the time in which the artefacts used in
everyday life will be created by robot technology (eventually created by
the human mind). This will gradually free humanity for the exploration
of his/her divine nature. Of course this lies ahead but not so very far
ahead. Under the influence of Maitreya and the Masters leisure will
quickly be seen as essential and working hours throughout the world will
shrink in relation to these advances.

Q. Could you please comment on feelings. What is the purpose of them and
what are we supposed to do with them? What do we do with feelings from
our past that still affect our present? Where do feelings come from?

A. Feelings arise out of our astral/emotional feeling body which we
share with the animal kingdom. Through feeling we experience pain and
anger, disappointment (and learn to avoid it). We also feel and

Gawd, what a self-important idiot. Turq merely shared
a photo of a cute present...some actually enjoyed it,
without trying to turn it into some kind of "win."

As for laying low, Turq has merely realized that he
would be better able to find an intelligent conver-
sation on the Beavis and Butthead Discussion Group
than here. FFL really isn't worth my time, even in
Message View, lately.

The intelligent folks -- those who actually discuss
ideas -- seem to be busy...uh...having lives, which
I congratulate them for, but which leaves only those
so gullible as to still believe in a fiction they
call "support of nature" and in the ME and in the
fiction of Maharishi actually having been a spiritual
teacher of note. Then there are those trolling for
attention, those waiting patiently for the next oppor-
tunity to get "payback" for some grudge or another,
and those who are so lame as to still believe homo-
sexuality non-ordinary, and thus worth debating. I'll
pass, thanks.

Over on the Beavis and Butthead group, at least they
laugh from time to time. Heh heh. Heh heh heh. He
said "laugh." :-)
