[FairfieldLife] Flashback, man!

2013-08-02 Thread turquoiseb
Here's an interesting experience in time-traveling back
to 1967. Watch the Vimeo clip on this page and marvel
at how *threatened* Harry Reasoner was by the hippies,
and the challenges they posed to society, and to his
own way of thinking and way of life.

http://www.messynessychic.com/2013/07/31/invasion-of-the-hippies/

But then think about some of the criticisms he levies
against the hippies, as he saw them then, and think
about whether they might have also applied to certain...
uh...other groups, such as TMers.

They object to many of the ills that beset society --
war, social hatred, money-grubbing, spiritual waste
-- but their remedy is to withdraw, into private
satisfaction. When one thinks of the problems of our
age, which cry for attack and imagination and youthful
energy, this seems like the greatest waste of all.

46 years later, where are the actual *accomplishments*
of those who followed their own turn on, tune in,
drop out mantra and pursued the path of private
satisfaction?

What actual benefits to society did their pursuit of
meditation and enlightenment and higher states of
consciousness achieve? And did it make even seem
to make *them* happy?

As reported here, the TM movement founded around this
desire to turn inward and seek private satisfaction
rather than worldly accomplishment is now rife with
infighting, scandal, divisions into competing sects,
and much of the same authoritarian suppression of
dissent and improper ways of acting and thinking
as the society its now-aging followers once rejected.

Just goes to show you that you can't always tell
where a path is going to lead you when you first
step onto it. That's why it's so important to remain
aware, and ready to step off of it any time, rather
than blindly following a path that seems to be
leading in the wrong direction.

IMHO, Obbajeeba, gotta be those nodes, those lovely nodes. Though Mangal in

No, actually they're very deliberately marketed to the
younger generation, teens and folks in their 20s--
something you could easily have discovered for yourself:

  http://lmgtfy.com/?q=market+for+energy+drinks

: drink this and you will be energetic, vibrant, YOUNG! I
think it's a good example of the worst kind of subliminal

I find it absolutely fascinating how certain people will
*imagine* a circumstance, and then immediately go on to
draw all kinds of conclusions from that imagined
circumstance without ever bothering to find out whether
what they had imagined was the case, *as if their imagining
  it had made it real*.

Above we find Share declaring that the marketing of energy
drinks to aging, health crazed boomers (a situation
contrary to fact) IS a good example of how sneaky
advertising techniques are. No qualifying phrase such as
If so... No conditional verbs such as it would be a
  good example...

Barry does the same thing, as I've pointed out any
  number of times.

Unfortunately, caveat emptor pales in comparison influence-wise.

Share, I meant one of those nodes of that year, are in my lagna. ( The nodes

Meaning karma connection? Maybe why I look at them, those particular men? lol
I was born a decade later. :)

Maybe the Turq can make up for Judy's time out?

What does Ravi have to say? Where is our Pimp of Kali?

How many men born in 1952 have this mane they handle with brush and shampoo.

Having fun with Judy's post out. Wanted to humor her since she can not post

Texting is the new ball and chain. Let me explain; When people expect one to
text back, just to keep up to connecting. Not saying anything meaningful, but
the same copy cut and paste stuff as the few hours before...then texting just
to see a reply. OH GAWD!
If one had curious interest in a possible hint of cute relationship building,
it disappears really quick from the use of texting. One can begin to see a
pattern of what life would be like in a union of some kind.
Texting will be the demise of human relationships. Might as well legalize
Prostitution, because a Prostitute's purpose can be more alluring than cut and
paste copy of I love you. All day long.
Might as well get the burp towel out and sit in the living room in front of
the flat screen for 180 days, if one is to text the same fucking shit over and
over.

Ha.  Yes, you don't realize what you might achieve internally and externally by
posting out - and, you'll never know until you try.  It's an experiential thing
- gotta do it to *know*.  And, you could *get* everything here that you
identify you are *receiving* as you could still view the posts.  Come on,
Share, give it a try. Just one weekand you could come back and report on
the experience of not posting - how you had to confront your self-will, the
obsessive quality to your nature, or whatever comes up for you after 14 months
of posting every day, or almost every day.   FFL will last a week being
deprived of your posts, important as they are to the mix.

[FairfieldLife] #5# Keeping What We Give

2013-08-02 Thread Paulo Barbosa
  To Reflect...(30/07/13)

  Keeping What We Give

He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness
endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor (Salmos 112:9). ESV

A story is told about Sadie Sieker, who served for many years taking care of
children of missionaries in the Phillippines. Sadie loved books. Some of them
she lent, but most of them she kept in a trunk under her bed. On one occasion,
in the middle o

f the night, Sadie heard a faint sound of rustling. After searching throughout
the room, she discovered the noise came from her trunk. When she opened it, she
found torn paper and dust. All her books that she had kept were destroyed by
termites.

Have we learned to serve the Lord generously? Have we offered to those who
have little, that which the Lord has given us in abundance? Have we revealed
Christ through attitudes of love? Or do our actions only prove that we are
selfish, greedy and in

different to those who are around us?
The Apostle Paul said: But test everything, hold fast what is good (1
Thessalonians 5:21). We can apply this verse to the words of the interview with
Pope Francis:
I think it is absurd for a priest to ride in a luxury car while so many live
in poverty. I think it also absurd to waste such a great amount of food while
so many people have nothing to eat. And this has been the very truth in the
world today. For

the most part, our churches are concerned mainly with making money much
money... and continue indifferent to the needs of so many who are around them.

What use is it for me to accumulate treasures that cannot be taken with me to
Heaven? To accumulate immense reserves in banks that I cannot spend till the
end of my life? What do I gain if I have everything and do not have love? What
good would it b

e if I gain this whole world and hear the Lord say to me: I don't know you?

What we give, we keep. What we accumulate, we lose. Give your love, your
faith, your hope, and your spiritual trunk will be full when you meet God!

[FairfieldLife] A Vedic Rap

2013-08-02 Thread doctordumbass
This was composed using recordings I made many years ago, of the Maharishi
pandits, during the Inauguration of the Rajas. The sanskrit chanting is not
altered in any way.

I first sample the entire hymn sequence - about an hour long, and find the part
that sounds most musical to me. After that, it either works, or it doesn't.:-)
Think of it as my version, of what the Byrds did, with, Turn, Turn, Turn -
lol.

There is a growling sound I integrated around the 2:00 mark - part of the
original recording, possibly someone brushing a microphone. Enjoy!

I'm not sure what posting on FFL has to do with enlightenment, but feel
free to describe it for me/us.  I can tell you miss those who post out when
they/we do, what with all the focus and attention you bring to this topic
again and again and again.  Control is overrated in my opinion - take Share
who thinks in terms of 7 a day - how important is it that she make sure the
forum is blessed with her presence, and that you make sure of the same, every
day all year long, year after year.  I say, old chap, show us some passion,
throw caution to the wind every once in awhile, show us a little spontaneity,
post out just once - for the freedom, Barry (and Share), the freedom.  Don't
be stodgy; get creative and run with it.  I will miss you and your
predictability terribly; I will miss Share's insights on just about
everything.  Come on, now, I dare you.  Share, see how far you
can get past 50 (maybe even to 70 if you're fast) before Alex shuts you
down.  Give FFL an opportunity to miss you.  :) :)

Just for fun, and because I've been trying to learn
a new scripting language, I wrote a script that found
posts by Alex containing the subject title Post Count
and then scanned them for people who have been consigned
one or more times to the Overposter's Bench.

The results are fascinating, and to everyone's surprise,
the winner in this Ain't Got No Self Control Contest
is *not* Judy. It's the guy who claims to be enlightened.

In the following list, the name of the poster is followed
by the rough (I am still learning this scripting language,
so the count could be a little off) number of weeks they
have spent sitting on the Overposter's Bench.

The grand total is revealing in terms of self control.
A cumulative total of *50 weeks* have been spent by
the Overposter's, sitting there twiddling their thumbs
(or whatever else they twiddle), wishing that they
could be here still posting away.

If they had had more self-control, they would have been.
There is really no other way to see it.

Frederick Lenz is like a whiny Opie, who happens to have hair.

Gino Vanelli, is the strikingly handsome, alluring sexy being, beautifully
voiced singer, who just so happens to have hair.

That is what I meant.

Umph and Uhmph, are sexual attention sounds a woman makes when she is drunk and
Gino walks by.

Fred just gets a stairy eyed girl wishing to be shown the way. Then she finds
out that was not the way.

Gino can sing again and again, and just enjoy him! :)

Hell if I know. However, some believe everything is connected to everything
else in this universe so the answer would, therefore, be yes.

Welcome back by the way. I think I/some of us might be needing you this week.
Nice chanting/rap piece BTW. Took me back to the last time I heard any chanting
like that which was about circa 1980 (minus the percussion).

Substrate to mushrooms, maybe.

The other? Gino? Yes.
Purr, purr, purr, well at least back then. haha.

Why do you think they invented ten gallon hats?
When a man takes his hat off to bow to the lady, and he sets it at her feet,
one can tell how much she fills it, with a simple in heat, greet?
