Hi Raunchy,
I've noticed that these sattvic kids have incredible support of nature.
Anything is possible for them.  I know of one FF family whose daughter loved
Irish step dancing.  There was a famous teacher of it in Chicago.  But somehow
it all worked out and the daughter ended up training with that teacher on a
weekly basis.  Anything is possible.

Gee, sure wish she could train in Des Moines. It's two hours from Fairfield and
super expensive. The only way to train there is to live there. Gabby moved
there from her family in Virginia Beach when she was only 14 years old.
Juliette isn't at that level of performance yet, someday maybe. She's currently
training four days a week in Fairfield. It's quite enough for now. Gymnastics
has been a wonderful self-confidence builder for her. She works hard and is
progressing nicely. We just hope she stays motivated enough to get a collage
scholarship.

Her first intra-team competition was two weeks ago. She won 1st All Around, 1st
Uneven Bars, 1st Beam, 2nd Vault and 2nd Floor Exercise. Beam video:
http://youtu.be/lNdWwl4oYpo

As you can see the Fairfield Parks and Rec gym where she trains is way too
small. Considering the limitations of the facility, I give her coach a lot of
credit for starting from scratch with just a few beginners and developing their
skills as well as he has. Links to more videos and team pictures are on
Facebook: Gymnastics Fans of Fairfield Iowa.

Thanks for the blood in the water reference. Hungary kicked Russia's butt and
won the gold. Very cool story. Found it on Wikipedia. FFLife doesn't have a
very deep bench for team sports, but we do have one notable pair of slippery
teammates we should sponsor to win the gold for a sport best described as
Fellatio on Ice: http://youtu.be/JBh_k2ieM84

Good God Gabby!  That smile on her face at the end!  That total being in the
zone.  Goose bumps just watching her.  The sound of the crowd clapping.  The
unity of it all.  Wow and wow and wow and wow

I remember some moments of total being in the zone when I played softball.
Yeah, God in the body...

thanks RC for posting

Dear Raunchydog,

So glad there is some FFL poster who is watching the Olympics and saw the
glorious performance of the irreisistible and celestially bouncing Gabby
Douglas--what a beautiful creature she is. There is no form of athletics which
asks so much as does gymnastics does--not even the Decathlon.

I like that someone in the world felt the sensations that I did in watching
Gabby's individual performance--and would communicate this on FFL.

Does this mean that your granddaughter knows and trains in the same facility as
does Gabby Douglas?

Well, I will remember you tonight, Raunchydog, when I watch the NBC coverage.
Bob Costas, the Jesus Christ of sports announcers, I figure. But all the NBC
colour commentators--for swimming, for gymnastics, for volleyball--they are all
superb.

We might, here on FFL, have the basis of a water polo team--you know: all that
blood in the water left after the Hungary and Soviet Union match in 1956.

But Share refuses to pull anyone under the water and smash at them with her
fists. The rest of us know the rules of water polo and play the game as hard as
it has to be played here in the FFL pool.

To be an Olympian, might be the best experience anyone can have of physical
achievement--and something well beyond that.. Did you see those US women eights

The Olympics in London, there has never been anything like it. And the
highlight for me is the performance of the US Fab Five--and Gabby especially.

Thanks so much Raunchy, unfortunately in Canada I can't see it but others in
the States can. Anyone who loves power, balance, grace, harmony and
non-prissiness will love Carl's ride on day 1 in the Grand Prix here that
Raunchy kindly posted. Now THAT is a horse, balls and all.

Here ya go, Ann. NBC has videos of many events as well as live streaming.
Hester is masterful, Uthopia is a gorgeous horse from head to tail.

I'm on vacation in Michigan, just north of Oscoda on Lake Huron, haven't posted

nice breeze coming off the lake, just relaxing and visiting family. In the

All glory to gymnast, Gabby Douglas! Fabulous! Only 4'11, just a little bit of

The precision and years of training required of a gymnast is every bit as

Can you imagine a 20 minute Grand Prix Freestyle with eight horses?
That's the nature of the Quadrille a "classic horse ballet" the
"longest of its kind in the world" the standard to which all other group
performances are measured!
If you want and i have time later i may write you some few quick
definitions descriptions (Volte,Pesade,Passade,Classical piaffe,Trot
Work,Canter Work etc.as well as Young Stallions, the Pas de Deux, and
the Long Rein solo)by friend of family and mentor world famous (The
Miracle of the White Stallions)Col. Alois Podhajsky, Director of the
Spanish Riding School from 1939 to1965.
Remembering these in his own passionate words could be a sentimental
journey back into a long gone area.
In the mean time just enjoy with open mind these first.

(For awoelflebater :October 15, 2008. Spanish Riding School in Vienna
two young ladies, a 21-year old Austrian and a 17-year old British

revival an old tradition-to ride in the famous baroque Winter Riding
School. Until approx. 100 years ago,the end of the Austrian monarchy,
only the ladies of the Imperial Court were permitted to regularly take

Poor Robert. Who has broken your balls? Just watch the power, the grace and the
beauty of this dear boy...You don't get these kind of performances if the horse
doesn't want to do it. A long time before they hit Grand Prix they would have
imploded and exploded. But I know you're just looking for a reaction. Just
watch the horses, you're missing something here. But you know that.
