Wow. I spent the day editing product announcements. Pundits as product. What a concept. I'm a little surprised that no one else has commented on this particular Web page. It seems to me that there are several interesting things about it. First, it seems clear that the future of the TM move- ment is spelled out here. There has been a shift in the marketing paragidm. They are no longer positioning themselves as providers of a meditation product for individual consumers; they are now positioning themselves as providers of Indian boys who will chant and meditate for you so that you don't have to. I find that interesting. I also find the primary photo on the web page pretty interesting. Maharishi's photo is at the top, but the photo of the person who is really *providing* the new product (pundits) is of Girish Varma. It seems to me that this advertisement could actually be seen as the first official acknowledgement that the reins of power within the movement -- at least the *financial* power -- are being shifted in his direction. This is, after all, the first publication I've ever seen in the TM movement that makes it crystal clear that when you send in your check or make your wire transfer, the money goes directly to Girish Varma. Interesting.

Interesting. It's the first time I looked at it. I don't recall seeing Dr in front of his name before. I wonder what his doctorate is in? Management would be my guess. I'll bet you this will be Mahesh's replacement. Pictures of the Brahmasthan of India already show his picture side-by-side M's and TMO figureheads seem to shower him with empty praise. He's the new feet to kiss.

Interesting, Girish's info links to this site which also links to other services they can provide, including cars: http://www.infobankofindia.com/

Management would be my guess. Either that or his Ph.D. could have come from the same place that John Gray's and Barbara DeAngelis' and many of the former-TMers-who-joined-the-New-Age-movement's Ph.D.s came from, the University of P.O. Box 2000. :-) Send in your money, get your Ph.D. in the mail the next day. Or he could have a real Ph.D. I dunno. I'll bet you this will be Mahesh's replacement. Pictures of the Brahmasthan of India already show his picture side-by-side M's and TMO figureheads seem to shower him with empty praise. He's the new feet to kiss. I honestly doubt that. I suspect that one of the purposes of this advertisement (besides soliciting money, of course) is to make the point that these donations will go to Girish Varma, *no matter who else is nominally in charge of the TM movement*. In other words, he'll never be Maharishi's replace- ment. That will be someone on the level of a Tony Nader or a Bevan Morris or a John Hagelin. Whoever is chosen will be the front man for the organiza- tion, both in public and for the remaining flock of TMers. They will *announce* the new policies and products as they appear, but it's my guess that they won't really be creating the new policies and products. That'll be the so-called TM Indian Mafia, who will also be the people collecting all the money, while the front men get just enough to keep them in clean robes and crowns and bagpipes. I could be all wrong about this, of course, but that's really my intuitive feeling, gazing at this latest product announcement. It makes it pretty clear that Girish is the source of the TMO's latest and greatest product (young pundit boys), and that he is going to be the recipient of any funds donated towards that effort. All in all, it's a pretty fascinating ad. I wonder how it's being received by the faithful who are on the course. Do they even *notice* that Maharishi's uncle is being positioned so prominently and that young Indian boys are essentially being offered up for sale by him, or is the vision of pure young pundit boys chanting to change the world the only thing they can see? Fascinating, whatever the story turns out to be...

There are no listings so far, though. This is absolutely the weirdest portal site I've ever seen. Most of it is nonfunctional. None of the links in the box at the bottom of the page work, except the one for Women, which is to a very promising page that features more links that appear to feature women in various professions in India and other aspects of Indian women's life; a lot of those links don't work either. But try the link to Relationships and then click on the links on *that* page. Very strange to U.S. eyes.
Re: [FairfieldLife] Re: Veda Park in Deutschland
Sounds weird but if they do yajnas for all sentient beings every day then that will be cool. He is focusing on the Rudram Chamakam Namakam for his pundits too. I guess limiting what they have to learn. Imagine when these pundits get so bored they can't stand chanting any more. Chanting machines. Spiritual slavery it sounds like. I think it's misguided. But then, I don't think worshipping God is all there is to life unless you consider living life the best worship. I don't think any amount of yajnas can change the basic moral character of many sentient beings. Nor can any mystical mumbo jumbo prevent exploitation and slavery and injustice of the small and individuated against the huge, the institutional, the exploitative, the rich or the powerful. The small must always have a speaker for them and the Movement is not a place for redress of grievances or for justice or honor in transaction. May these pundits have good lives, fulfilling their own desires in the process of them being used, and become liberated in the process. May Shree guide them. At any rate this article brings up the fact of huge mambo becoming the real focus of the Movement. - Original Message - From: TurquoiseB [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2007 4:17 AM Subject: [FairfieldLife] Re: Veda Park in Deutschland --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, TurquoiseB [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: --- In FairfieldLife@yahoogroups.com, bob_brigante no_reply@ wrote: (Visit page http://excellenceinaction.globalgoodnews.com/06-aug/india3.html for further information on the peace-creating power of groups of Vedic Pandits.) There is so much unhappiness in the world that ordinary people cannot do TM -- the atmosphere will not allow people to be happy.
