LOL! Seems like a runaway train! I can't see, for the life of me how, Obama got
elected the first, much less the second. But then there is precedent. The
German people were in such a slump and depressed after WW1, that they elected
Der Fuehrer, who promised them the moon!

Completely surreal, I agree.  The entire GOP line-up is a bizarre farce,
imo, with the exception of Rubio.  The party is clearly having a nervous
breakdown. Trump has seized the opportunity to further the chaos and put his
megalomania onstage.  That pledge of his to the GOP Party was pretty funny,
though. Anyone who would vote for him is completely delusional.  But, of
course, I *really* never could understand how Bush got elected for a second
term.  Oh yeah, I remember, his brother cast the deciding vote!

Seriously. That's what he says he believes.
It is interesting to speculate why this would disqualify him for the office of
the President of the United States of America. I mean, what would his beliefs
concerning the creation of the world and all that is in it have to do with his
ability to govern? I can only speak for myself, but it would mean that the man
doesn't have a scientific bone in his body when it comes to evaluating that
evidence with respect to evolution and all of the geological and biological
evidence that would indicate that the world was not created in 7 days (which is
a scary thought when you consider he is a surgeon). The next thing is that it
implies he is religious in a way that appears literal and simplistic - another
strike against him (for me). This, in turn, would make me doubt his ability to
entertain complex and sophisticated tools (thought processes)  to deal with all
sorts of issues that would, inevitably, pop up during his term. And this is
just for starters. I have yet to really study the man but he seems to have
grabbed the attention of the Republican voters at the moment. The whole thing
is rather surreal for me.

Good one. I happen to know that creation abhors a vacuum and since that seems
to exist within the heads of many of the Republican candidates we can expect to
see evolution, change and, ultimately, transformation. Yeehaw.

him in a garden along with a snake that talks, not anymore than the traditional
stories of the Upanishads with flying mountains and devas and rakshasas ,
spinning a churn on a snake and turtle, making nectar. These are allegorical
stories and Ben Carson knows that. My god man, he's a brain surgeon, not a

I'd say the Republicans are in deep trouble. The two candidates to the
left of them - Bernie and Hillary - are so far and away superior in
every way that it seems too lopsided a race. But, then, if the
Amur-can people can elect Bush not once, but twice, I believe anything
is possible in this time of craziness and mayhem in America. There is
an extreme right in that country that thrives on fear and fear
mongering as well as a very, very aberrational sense of patriotism and
pride. I don't remember America like this pre 9/11.

Thing is I've read of Republicans who think Bernie might be a good
idea. That's really got to freak out the right. :-D

And yeah, the divisiveness since 9/11 has become so pronounced you'd
think it was a conspiracy.

2015-10-28 Thread authfri...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Carson--speaking for himself--is apparently not interested in Daniel's
calculations or the concept of "divine timelines." He explicitly rejects
anything but six 24-hour human days as the time it took God to do Creation from
start to finish (plus one such day of rest, of course). Ain't no wiggle room
here, I'm afraid.

seventieth week of his prophecy which was written some 1500-1600 years ago.Sir
Isaac Newton spent most of his life working on Daniel's timeline hoping to
calculate the time and day of Christ's return. Divine timelines are not the
same as man's timelines.

2015-10-28 Thread feste37
I agree with some of what you say here, but Obama, with I think about 6 years
in the state senate and also as a sitting US senator (albeit with only a couple
of years experience) had much better qualifications than Ben Carson. But you
are right, it is better to have had executive experience, and I think that
Obama was the first sitting US senator to win the presidency since JFK in 1960.
Governors do better, which is why I am still not writing off Jeb Bush. He has
the name (mixed blessing, perhaps), the money, the experience, which may yet
come into play when Trump and Carson self-destruct. But I am kind of enjoying
the Carson circus sideshow, wondering what nonsense he will come out with next,
like the Jews could have slowed or stopped the Holocaust had they held on to
their guns. Doesn't Ben know that in the early years of the war the Nazis
conquered most of Europe without breaking a sweat? And the Jews would have been
able to resist them with a few pistols? It's nutty. And also, our Ben want to
abolish Medicare and replace it with health savings accounts. Yes, really. Got
a real vote-winner there, Ben!

state senator, then a couple as a US Senator, doing neither very well, while
seeking higher office. He had no executive experience. Never ran an office, a
company, an agency, a city, a state and he wanted to be president! On the job
training with no experience running anything but his mouth. He did that quite
well, convincing millions that he could solve their personal problems in a
manner that would be acceptable to them and everyone else. Hell, they even gave
him the Nobel Peace prize as soon as he took office!

Carson's religious beliefs are in fact no more strange than that of most
evangelical Christians. I don't see that as dooming his candidacy. And after
all, in 2012 the Republicans nominated a Mormon! (Have you seen what they
believe?). No, Carson's problem is that he has zero qualifications for being
president. Expertise in one unrelated field (brain surgery) does not carry over
into another field, that of politics. The man appears to know nothing at all,
but still has the peculiar arrogance to think that in spite of the fact that he
has never held any elective office, he can suddenly, out of the blue, become
president. My advice: Run for City Council, Ben, or maybe the state legislature
or the US Congress. Learn something about politics and world events and history
before you put yourself up as a presidential candidate. Ben Carson vs. Hillary?
Don't make me laugh, She dwarfs him. Smarter, more experienced, with real
qualifications for the office she is running for. Candidates like Carson make a
mockery of the entire process of how we elect a president. He will not last.

2015-10-28 Thread emily.ma...@yahoo.com [FairfieldLife]
Completely surreal, I agree. The entire GOP line-up is a bizarre farce, imo,
with the exception of Rubio. The party is clearly having a nervous breakdown.
Trump has seized the opportunity to further the chaos and put his megalomania
onstage. That pledge of his to the GOP Party was pretty funny, though. Anyone
who would vote for him is completely delusional. But, of course, I *really*
never could understand how Bush got elected for a second term. Oh yeah, I
remember, his brother cast the deciding vote!

Hmmm, pretty good. I wished more people would have thought the same way 7 years
ago. Obama was a *community organizer*ala Al Sharpton/ Jessie Jackson,  with a
law degree that spoke like a *country white boy* while avoiding the subject of
race to ease the public's fear and served a couple of years as a state senator,
then a couple as a US Senator, doing neither very well, while seeking higher
office. He had no executive experience. Never ran an office, a company, an
agency, a city, a state and he wanted to be president! On the job training with
no experience running anything but his mouth. He did that quite well,
convincing millions that he could solve their personal problems in a manner
that would be acceptable to them and everyone else. Hell, they even gave him
the Nobel Peace prize as soon as he took office!

I know he graduated from Yale and has a degree in medicine.  But I don't know

Re: [FairfieldLife] Ben Carson Takes the Lead Among GOP Candidates

2015-10-28 Thread feste37

It appears that he's trying to avoid a conflict between his faith and
scientific facts. There is an obvious disconnect which he may or may not want
to address at this point in time. But it will eventually rise to surface
during the debates with fellow Republicans or the eventual presidential
candidate from the Democrats. Let's find out.

I'd say the Republicans are in deep trouble. The two candidates to the left of
them - Bernie and Hillary - are so far and away superior in every way that it
seems too lopsided a race. But, then, if the Amur-can people can elect Bush not
once, but twice, I believe anything is possible in this time of craziness and
mayhem in America. There is an extreme right in that country that thrives on
fear and fear mongering as well as a very, very aberrational sense of
patriotism and pride. I don't remember America like this pre 9/11.
