Michelle,
    My heart aches for you
I know the feeling of when they won't wake up from being putting under so well. It is heart wrenching
I certainly do hope like hell she does wake up for you. Hope she can endure the treatment but if not she tried bless her soul.
Bless her little heart and you trying to help her.
I'm sending a bunch of positive energy and hope for the best.
You all are in my thoughts and prayers!

But she thinks it is a tumor. She said if she were her cat, and she revives, she would do the biopsy and if it is an infection treat it aggressively, and if it is a tumor try chemotherapy to see if there is an immediate response but if not then to not put her through any more. I am thinking about all of this but can not really know what to do, especially since she may never wake up. I am just going to go there.

She has a large tumor penetrating
multiple parts of her brain.  They are having trouble getting her to
breathe on her own after the anesthesia. I am waiting on the phone to hear if
she is breathing. If she is not, I am going to tell them to stop trying. I am
heartbroken. She is like a little pixie, always so happy. This is devastating.

There is something wrong with her brain,
not her inner ear. The neurologist could tell this right away. She is getting
an MRI as I write, and then a spinal fluid analysis. I have been doing
research, and from my research and what the neurologist said on the phone I am
expecting lymphoma. I did not know lymphoma could arise in the brain, but
apparently it can. It is a rarer form of lymphoma but does happen.
Apparently it can respond to radiation and chemotherapy, but only two of the
chemo drugs can cross the blood-brain barrier, so it is more hit or miss than
with other lymphomas.  The neurologist said it can be other things, like
swelling from a virus or infection or a tumor of a different kind (many of
which can be removed surgically), but I have lost 2 and possibly 3 positives to
lymphoma, and cats with FeLV are apparently 60 times more likely than other
cats to develop it, so I fear it is that.

They have not fed her today because they
have to knock her out for the MRI, so I don't know if she is able to eat or
not. Last night she licked some baby food off my fingers, but over about ten
sessions of that got less than 1/4 of a jar because she could only lick a few
times and then would need to put her head down.

Just two days ago she was running around
chasing pens and trying to get Lucy to play with her, and even after the first
ER visit she was playing with the printer.  She has always been such a
playful, energetic, happy girl.  She looked so incredibly horrible last
night.  I feel so bad for her.  I can not imagine the house without
her-- as Gray said on the phone to someone today, she is the life of the
house.  Always running around exploring and playing and making us
laugh.  I am so worried for her and so depressed.

Please pray for her. Studies have shown
that praying for sick people helps them, for whatever reason.

Thanks,

Michelle

Praying for Ginger

2006-02-21 Thread wendy
Michelle,

I don't know what to tell you about Ginger. I would
be just as frantic as you are and torn about what to
do. It's so hard when you don't have good information
to make decisions from. But it sounds like this might
be something to wait out a little longer, because it
doesn't sound like they are going to do much for her
anyway at this point, if her bloodwork and everything
else seems ok. Maybe she is just really tired. I
understand you are scared though and you have every
right to be. I'll continue to pray for Ginger's
recovery and for peace for you. Keep your chin up.

:)
Wendy
