LOL, that's funny! Now all you have to do is teach all of them how to do
your laundry =0)

Diane is right. Homie likes my small laundry hamper. Of course, i has to
have a piece of my clothes in it. She barely fits in it and nw that
Harley has seen her in it, he has taken over another one. I got sevel
small ones for whites, light colored cothes and dark ones. Now I am down
to one for everything.

Today when I fed Hemy (she's in a cage on my back covered deck) she
ate while I was there. I spoke to her and reached a finger through
the cage to touch her head. No problem. Then, when I came back to
clean her litter box, I took a chance and placed my hand on the
floor of the cage and remained still. She moved closer, then nudged
my hand. I stroked her cheek and she moved her head around in
obvious pleasure. I petted her a few moments and she purred. This
is a "feral" cat who has, after tail amputation and being moved from
her familiar surroundings, been in a cage on my back deck for only
Five Days!
I'd say she is more afraid and cautious than feral, wouldn't you?
I'm keeping her in the cage for now, and will go slowly so she
doesn't feel pressured. But what a little sweetheart. It pains me
to think of how horribly humans have been to her, yet she is willing
to forgive and perhaps trust again. Bless her!

I agree. Bonnie, you should stop thinking like a human (being caged is
terrible) and start thinking like a cat (I feel safe and cozy in this enclosed
place that is small enough for me to control). She doesn't mind the cage,
really! Let her stay there and finish acclimating, or take the next step in the

I continue to be amazed by her progress. I can't stand the idea of her in that
cage for two or three more weeks. I'm torn between buying a bigger cage (hard
to afford right now) and releasing her sooner, say in 3 or 4 more days. I
think she might stick around. My biggest fear is that she might try to return
to my aunt's house, about 5 blocks away.
Im torn.

Today when I fed Hemy (she’s in a cage on my back covered deck) she ate while I
was there. I spoke to her and reached a finger through the cage to touch her
head. No problem. Then, when I came back to clean her litter box, I took a
chance and placed my hand on the floor of the cage and remained still. She
moved closer, then nudged my hand. I stroked her cheek and she moved her head
around in obvious pleasure. I petted her a few moments and she purred. This is
a “feral” cat who has, after tail amputation and being moved from her familiar
surroundings, been in a cage on my back deck for only Five Days!
I’d say she is more afraid and cautious than feral, wouldn’t you?
I’m keeping her in the cage for now, and will go slowly so she doesn’t feel
pressured. But what a little sweetheart. It pains me to think of how horribly
humans have been to her, yet she is willing to forgive and perhaps trust again.
 Bless her!

She might surprise you and stick around your house. Where is she getting
shelter, food and most of all love? Bringing her inside might be easier than
you think. She has already accepted you and learned to trust you. She might
like being inside with soft furniture to sleep on and may even want lap time.
Only thing, once she is inside, she will stay, you won't be able to let her go.

Unfortunately, I'm the "bad guy" because I have to medicate him with three
different meds and give him sub-q fluids daily - his skin is very tough and
I hate doing it to him - other cats have such soft skin that the needles
just glide right in.not Eliot's!

Eliot Spitty, who was supposed to have been FeLV+ (that's why I joined this
group), was trapped outside of our house, and we assumed he was feral. Now,
that we know he's not FeLV+ (also thanks to this group), but has serious
renal failure, he is the sweetest cat. Uses his nose to bump our faces, and
purrs the quietest purr all the time.

Oh she is not feral at all, she is simply a sweet kitty whose previous
owners failed her. Sounds like she would be a great inside only kitty :)

We thought SuzieQ was feral until she started letting us pet her and when
Charlie (the other backyard feral) went missing about three weeks ago, we
brought SuzieQ inside and she is quite happy to be living the good life in
our guest bedroom. She will soon be let out into the main part of the house
to meet the rest of our Nuisance. We have taken our "goodwill ambassador"
kitties in to meet her already and they have all gotten along really well.
By following my Cat Intro 101 instructions (I can email for anyone that
wants a copy) you can introduce MANY kitties into your existing kitty/dog
household.

Thanks for saving Hemy.

The vets that treated her at Forgotten Felines said she has a cleft palate.
You can see, when she looks at you, that the little place under her nose
where the two cheeks come together, there is a little gap on her. But it
must not be serious enough of a problem, because she has a healthy appetite
and weighs in at 9 lb. 6 oz. A good sized cat!

What I don't understand is this: If she has a cleft palate, how can she eat?
Are you sure it's not just some minor deformity that resembles a cleft
palate?

Bonnie,

I'm so excited for you! She does seem more scared than feral to me too. Why
can't humans be as forgiving as animals? I bet you two will be best buddies

Thanks for all your patience and love you have given her. Look what you are
