i concur...that just makes good sense. mama kitty was pregnant with 12 (yes
TWELVE) babies when she decided she would live here. i wouldn't trade all
the time i had with her for anything in this world. she had them on my
porch. all of her babies were negative too. when it came time to deliver -
she didn't want me to go inside -- i stayed up all night with her. she
turned out to be the best mommy ever.

I totally agree but watch the kittens closely for signs of worms. It won't
take much to kill the kittens if they do catch them.

I wouldn't even consider vaccinating her until after the babies are weaned.
Vaccines weaken the body and, in her condition, even just a little could be too
much. Check with a really good vet re worming. Without firm evidence that she
had worms I wouldn't. How far along is she?

  Hi all,
It looks as we have a Feral pregnant Mom that has found her way to us.
I'm going to trap her and put her on my back porch so she can tame down. Also
have her babies safely. She is just a tiger strip kitty and very small. I have
named her Little Girl
My question is Can she be wormed?
Do you recommend she be vaccinated before or after the birth of the kittens?
I use Heska...it is intra nasal vaccination on my cats. I've never had any
problems with it.
I can tell she wants to be friendly with me. I can get about 2 feet from her
and drop some food down. I back off and she eats it up.
I have been feeding her with my other Feral kitties.
I normally wouldn't ask these questions but never had a pregnant kitty either
that lived outside that is feral. I can tell she is a baby herself she is under
a year old at the most maybe 7-9 months old.
I will get her spayed for free after the babies are born.

So as you can see I'm clueless on this!
Thanks for your help in this matter.
  Hugs to all

Don't vaccinate while pregnant or nursing. I have a mom and babies in a foster
home right now -- mom found in a field with 2 week old babies and taken to the
shelter, where I pulled her. We've already lost two of the four babies. Just
found out yesterday that the shelter vet gave mom the FVRCP and rabies vaccines
before releasing her. I am sure this stress on top of everything else is why
we're losing kittens.
