Please forgive a really dumb question, but why are staff separators
considered text?

[Finale] Error that Causes Program Shutdown

2008-08-16 Thread Patrick Sheehan
Finale 2008 (Windows XP):
I had many many temporary files on my hard drive, and deleted them all to free
up space, because Finale would shut down immediately at startup. Now, I can do
nothing, not even open a saved file.
The exact error that comes up now isCtree error 17 in CTVNOTE:225. How do
I fix this in order to get the program running again? Of course, this is
extremely urgent. HELP!!!

2008-08-16 Thread Darcy James Argue

Hi Craig,

Hide/show and link/unlink are both options in the contextual menu.

And I wasn't chastising you for not having already read the section on
linked parts, merely recommending that you do so. Really. There are
many aspects of linked parts behavior that can be non-intuitive at
first, but the manual does an excellent job of explaining how things
work and why they work that way. Your question is the same question
everyone has when they first start using linked parts, including me.
Then I actually read the documentation (something I haven't done much
of since Finale 3.0), and all became clear.

At some point, I think it is fair put some responsibility on the
software designers. If there is a property that hides or shows a
text object on a linked part, that property should be accessible in
the context menu (right click), as would be the case with any
properly designed Windows application.

I read your reply in the fashion you meant, Darcy, and immediately made
a mental note to read the section in the manual you suggest. (Of,
course, I haven't actually _done that_, yet, but I will, I will.)

Re: [Finale] FinMac 2K7 key change dilemma

2008-08-16 Thread Andrew Stiller
Didn't work. Much thanks to all who replied. I ended up doing it
graphically: increased space at head of measure (TGTools), then three
natural signs added as artics. Key sig. hidden at the start of each
remaining system to the end of the song. No transposition was needed,
because the notes were to be held to their original lines and spaces
anyway.

2008-08-16 Thread Craig Parmerlee
Well, something must be wrong with my system. I'm not getting context
menus for ANY object now. I'm pretty sure that existed when I installed
F2009. The latest thing I did was install the Garritan JABB library. I
guess I'll have to reinstall Finale.

If I select one of these separator marks, there is nothing like
hide/show or link/inlink in the text menu and there is no menu displayed
if I right-click on the separator's handle. I don't find link/unlink or
hide/unhide in any menu when I have the handle selected.

RE: [Finale] Error that Causes Program Shutdown

2008-08-16 Thread Howey, Henry
I had this error too;-(

It's a hard drive temp files problem. After a re-start, you should be able to
run Finale. THEN, in Program Options, create a FINALE file as the site of your
temp files. I suggest OTHER than the APP DATA - LOCAL file. When you do a
thorough cleaning, this file is deleted;-(
