In all of this I don't remember whether you are on Windows or Mac, but
if you're on a Windows machine, there's a much less expensive
alternative to Acrobat: PowerPDF either the Standard version ($99.99) or
the Advanced version ($149.99), from Nuance Software.

That lets you combine multiple files into a single PDF, break a single
PDF into multiple PDF files, extract/delete/insert pages in a PDF file.

It's a wonderful PDF utility for Windows users.

[Finale] Staff names in combined file

2014-07-05 Thread Nick Raspa
Hello all,

Thanks for all the input.

I tried turning off the staff names in parts but that doesn't work. I believe
the problem is that I used the score merger to add parts to an existing score
but the score merger function isn’t designed to do anything but merge scores.
So the result is that the parts are not simply appended to the score as parts,
they actually become part of the original score. I should have thought that
through when I was looking at my options for combining the score and parts so I
apologize for wasting your time.

I did finally solve the problem by eliminating the problematic items from the
score and re-entering them as text. Hopefully I won't find any more issues
during my final proof. I no longer have the full Acrobat program where I know
you can combine various pdf files.
