[Finale] Change Note Durations in tuplets

2016-05-17 Thread Ryan
Utilities > Change > Note Durations… doesn't seem to work on tuplets in
Fin2012c (Mac OS X 10.8.5).

I have three triplet 8th notes. I want to increase the duration by 200%,
making them triplet quarters. When I run the utility it doesn't work.

Can anyone else confirm, please?

I'm trying to convert 4/4 to Cut Time, where one bar of 4 becomes two bars
of 2, but note durations are doubled. Is there a better way to make this
change? (It also has problems with Layers not lining up…)

Thanks

Ryan

[Finale] O.T. Steinberg announces Dorico

2016-05-17 Thread Kim Patrick Clow
Hi all:

Dorico will be the name of the new music engraving software to be released
this Fall; it was put together by David Spreadbury and a group of coders
who had previously collaborated on Sibelius. Dorico was a three year
effort. The press release is @

Agreed. Cross grade price is too high. Definitely a wait-and-see for me

300 euro crossgrade price? My breath will not be bated. They could have
called it Doremi.

So far, no chord symbols. Absolutely no for me because of that, until that
omission gets rectified.

[Finale] New Steinberg notation software announcement

2016-05-17 Thread David Froom
Hello all,

I saw that the new Steinberg notation product, being developed by the “sacked”
Sibelius developers, has now arrived at the name and announcement stage. It has
been demonstrated, and is promised for release by the end of this year. They
are suggesting that they will have a decent (temporary) cross-grade price for
Finale/Sibelius users, but they aren’t taking orders yet.

They are calling it Dorico, after Valerio Dorico, a 16th century Roman music
printer who, like Petrucci, lacked specialist knowledge, so “likely relied on a
network of contacts and technical expertise of an editor” (Susan Hammond,
“Editing Music in Early Modern Germany”).

The name, perhaps, refers to Steinberg relying on the former Sibelius team?

Sounds to me too much like Dorito. Kind of cheesy…

In any case, here is the link. I’d be curious to get impressions from our local
power users.

[Finale] New Finale plug-ins (Preview)

2016-05-17 Thread Jan Angermüller
I have updated my homepage with online demos and some detailed
descriptions of my upcoming Finale plug-ins including an *automated page
layout plug-in *which will be a huge time saver for many Finale layout
tasks.

http://elbsound.studio/finale_plugins.php

The website also contains a*comprehensive music related font list with
more than 850 entries* and a *huge music font comparison* that I created
with the new Finale House Style Changer plug-in.
It shows four musical examples created with 150 music fonts.
http://elbsound.studio/music_fonts2.php
http://elbsound.studio/music_fonts.php

I hope this will be a valuable resource for you.

Any comments, suggestions or wishes for more automated tasks in Finale
are very welcome.

I built the plug-ins with Jari Williamson's great JW Lua plug-in
development kit. So here again a big thank you to Jari and his fantastic
contributions to Finale. JW Lua is still in beta and so are the plug-ins
that rely on it. I expect Q3/Q4 to be the release date. If you want to
support the projects, you can donate to Jari's work (
http://finaletips.nu/index.php/component/phocadownload/category/10-plug-ins-for-mac

).

Best,
Jan
