Re: [Finale] Third party big band fonts

2017-03-10 Thread Christopher Smith
The “Evanescence” book of Maria Schneider’s music was copied using the
JazzFont. Most of the defaults included with Finale were pretty close. You have
this if you have a version of Finale from the last 15 years.

2017-03-10 Thread Chuck Israels
Bill Duncan created those articulations for Greg Hamilton and me in order that
we would have Jazz articulations to use with Maestro, and I am continually
grateful to him. You can get those articulations in the Finale Productivity
package that Nick Carter sells (NPC Imaging). I don't think he sells the fonts
separately, but the articulations and the beautiful slashes and rhythmic
notation in Bill's Chord Symbol font are the essential parts of the package.

Just an opinion. I am not a fan of computer imitation of handwritten music. It
fools no one and loses the reliable regularity and clarity of a good engraved
score. Jazz font is clunky looking and I am among a group of committed jazz

I don’t like the JazzFont. I remember buying before MakeMusic bought it and
included it with Finale. It was cool at the time, but that was the 90s.

I really have stuck with the Articulations font that the late great Bill Duncan
put together for Finale. It has all the articulations one needs, and you get to
use Maestro font. Doesn’t get much better than that.

[Finale] Custom Drum Maps

2017-03-10 Thread Steve Gruver
I am familiar with Finale's default drum set map when entering notes,
however I'd like to know if there is a way to change Finale's default drum
set map to follow PASIC's drum set mapping without having to manually tweak
everything? Is there a way to import a mapping that someone has already
completed?
