Linda, Hide empty staves is in the staff tool. In page view, right click (or control click) on the handle of the staff system you want to affect. Double click to select all staves. A dialogue box will appear with choices, including "Hide Empty Staves." Don't know the answer to the other question, but it would be useful to me too. I'm feeling brain dead. I can't find some of the commands and menu items I've been used to. It's very disorienting! These are things I have used for years, and cannot locate in the version of Finale Mac 2014 Where is the "hide empty staves"?
