Re: [Finale] copying part layout to another linked part
Never tried that - no idea - a little afraid of experimenting with that. An explanation of that is probably in Tobias' documentation. On Mar 22, 2010, at 11:17 AM, Ryan wrote: > Big DUH on my part. Big DUH on my part. I forgot to Update Layout (Command U). And, just like most situations, I did that step IMMEDIATELY after writing the list! Thanks for the response. Regarding this Plug-in: Does anyone know what is changed when you choose "Miscellaneous Document Settings" under the Settings tab? Re: [Finale] copying part layout to another linked part
Ryan, This works for me, though occasionally I have to click the paste twice, or go back and copy the layout from the originally chosen part another time. The only time I have trouble otherwise is when Finale loses its Automatic Update Layout preference (that does happen from time to time), and you have to reset that, or update the layout manually (Command U). Other than that, I have no helpful ideas. Chuck On Mar 22, 2010, at 10:22 AM, Ryan wrote: > Oh no! It worked once on one part, but it's not working when I try to > transfer it to a second part. Hi Ryan, There is a TG Tool to do this. Modify/Transfer Layout. Make sure Automatic Update Layout is turned on, or you will not see the layout change. Ryan ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale For System Margins, they should be the same by default for every part. If you want to change them for every part (or only some parts) go to the Page Layout tool, Page Layout Menu>Systems>Edit Margins. A window opens called Change System Margins. Click on the system whose characteristics you want and all the info will appear in the window. Uncheck any boxes you DON'T want copied (sometimes I don't want Distance Between Systems), and choose the range of systems you want (typically I don't want the first system changed, so my range is 2 to [blank] so it copies things until the end. Now comes the cool part. You can apply it just to this part by clicking the Apply button, or to EVERY PART that you want by clicking the Apply to Parts/Score button and choosing what parts you want to apply it to. I suspect, however, that what you really want in this case is for the system breaks (locks) you put in Horn 1 to be copied to Horn 2, etc. This is in TG Tools (pro version) Modify>Transfer>Layout. You can also transfer system margins here, if these are different from system to system, but as I said, I suspect that you want these to be the same for EVERY system in a part, so I typically only check "Locked measure groups" in this window. The only warning is that after pasting the layout into Horn 2, you have to manually update layout to see the results. I often have to respace the music, too. DON'T be in the Staff Tool for this, because if you hit 4 (meaning to apply note spacing) while in the Staff Tool you end up applying Tenor Sax transposition Staff Style instead! This seems to happen to me at least once per large chart, so I check the parts now for correct transposition.
