Re: [Finale] how do I delete #1 measures?

2015-11-29 Thread Raymond Horton
Ok, I haven't had time to try anything yet , but in my defense, I did not
use the pickup measure function as I know it is totally bugged. My fault
for being unclear in my first message. I actually did exactly as
Christopher describes, but I still have the problems. Thanks

Re: [Finale] how do I delete #1 measures?

2015-11-29 Thread Christopher Smith
Ah, in that case it sounds like you have some file corruption. It may be
mild—just preventing you from deleting the first measure or inserting.

Fortunately, this happened to me once (without a pickup, but that shouldn’t
matter.) Cut the entire piece (command X), then paste it 90 measures later with
Command-V. You may have some time sigs and key sigs to clear, and I have found
that sometimes double barlines need to be reset so that they correctly break
multi measure rests. Then you can paste in your new piece. Make sure you copy
and paste measure STACKS so that keys, time sigs and everything get copied.

J D has it right. Furthermore, I would suggest that in the future NOT to use
the pickup measure feature, but create it the old-fashioned way by making the
time signature 1/8 but display as 4/4, and start the measure numbering from bar
2. (DON’T exclude the first measure from measure numbering using the Measure
Attributes, as this causes problems galore in other tools.)

2015-11-29 Thread j...@thomastudios.com
Good idea Christopher. But with a large copy paste, it might be a better idea
to copy and Insert to assure all key and time sigs make it over. Copy and
paste is very buggy in all versions of Finale, especially if any tuplets are
involved.

You need to reset the pickup measure from the set pickup m. menu and deselect
what's there.

[Finale] how do I delete #1 measures?

2015-11-28 Thread Raymond Horton
Windows Finale 2014: I had a pickup measure of 1/8 note that I had labeled
as not included in measure numbering. Now I am trying to insert a 90
measure piece in front of it and I can't get rid of the #1 bar. This has
fouled up other things such as putting in double bars and final bars. I
can't figure out how to clear this, I've tried deleting the measure etc
etc, nothing seems to help. Thanks for any suggestions!
