(although, as Christopher says, this would seem to be merely the same as making a new edit) Thanks, Lawrence Well, I have, which is why I mention it. But I don't KNOW that I caused it this way. Tech support told me to cut it out, dammit. I still get evidence of oddities when I open old files in a newer version of Finale, though I don't know whether to attribute it to imprecise file translation or an appearance of file errors that I introduced from my old method of creating new files. Tangentially, I am finishing up a project that I approached with great anxiety: concatenating 25 Finale scores from 12 years of Finale versions (3.0 to FinWin2007!) and then standardizing everything to be uniform for publication. I ran into hundreds of headaches (mostly from early bizarre font decisions) but no major problems at all. It was actually refreshing to be reminded of how much the program has advanced. Those of us who have been at Finale for a long time should occasionally remember the nightmares with page layout, spacing, etc. that are nearly effortless now. Re: [Finale] Making blanks from existing files
Dear Lawrence, I have done this a number of times and I sometimes encounter file corruption problems when converting older files into newer versions of Finale. Whether or not this is a result of the seemingly logical procedure you describe is not clear. I don't know that this helps because I don't really know the source of the corruption, but I've done what you describe often enough that the idea that it might be a cause of problems gives me pause.
