Have you considered /bin/test ?

Re: [Fink-devel] atlas build noncompliance

I haven't been able to get atlas to compile on a dual G5 yet anyway, so
a change is probably good here.

As part of its build process the atlas package autodetects the number
of CPUs, and applies a build flag appropriately. Unfortunately, the

Single processor G4:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin 5754496 19 Aug 11:02
atlas_3.6.0-1_darwin-powerpc.deb

Dual processor G4:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root admin26614516 18 Aug 22:17
scilab_3.0-4_darwin-powerpc.deb

Given the nature of the package, it would probably be a good thing to
have separate single- and dual-cpu variants (for that matter a
G5-optimized one would be good, too). Presumably this would require
dependencies new virtual packages for the type and number of CPUs.

This would open the door to G5-optimized variants of packages, though,
so it might be a useful option.

Re: [Fink-devel] fontconfig2

2004-01-13 Thread Todd Heidesch
Okay, I found out the library names are normal...
How does one using Fink set the PKG_CONFIG_PATH correctly to help
pkg-config?

I tried this:

CompileScript: <<
 PKG_CONFIG_PATH="%p/lib/pkgconfig:$PKG_CONFIG_PATH" ./configure %c
 make install DESTDIR=%d
<<
That let the configure script find the fontconfig version, but
everything else was screwed up; i.e. nothing outside of
%p/lib/pkgconfig was found. So I'm still stuck.

Wouldn't it make sense to set %p/lib/pkgconfig before the system libs
by default, assuming most if not all packages in Fink are newer/better
than the system release, or is there an issue of compatibility?

[Fink-devel] fontconfig2

2004-01-13 Thread Todd Heidesch
Has anyone been able to successfully use fontconfg 2.2? I can't get it
to install libraries over version 1.0.4 (see below) and the Gimp guys
don't like that I patched it in the configure script. I find it very
odd that even 2.2.90 would have this same behavior. Does it simply
insert incorrect version numbers, in which case it might be patched, or
is it something wrong with my setup? I'm not sure how the fontconfig1
virtual package affects this, either.

ls -lF /sw/lib/ | grep "fontconfig"
-rwxr-xr-x1 root admin472016 13 Jan 06:11
libfontconfig.1.0.4.dylib*
lrwxr-xr-x1 root admin25 13 Jan 06:12
libfontconfig.1.dylib@ -> libfontconfig.1.0.4.dylib
-rw-r--r--1 root admin564968 13 Jan 06:11 libfontconfig.a
lrwxr-xr-x1 root admin25 13 Jan 06:12 libfontconfig.dylib@
-> libfontconfig.1.0.4.dylib
-rwxr-xr-x1 root admin 907 13 Jan 06:11 libfontconfig.la*

This is what I've got in the .info file right now:

Source:
http://pdx.freedesktop.org/software/fontconfig/releases/fontconfig
-2.2.90.tar.gz
Source-MD5: 5cb87476743be1bbf1674ed72a76ae6a
BuildDepends: freetype2, expat, libtool14 (>= 1.5)
ConfigureParams: --mandir='%p/share/man' --infodir='%p/share/info'
--prefix='%p' --with-expat-includes='%p/include'
--with-expat-lib='%p/lib'
--with-freetype-config='%p/lib/freetype2/bin/freetype-config'
Replaces: fontconfig1

In any case, the GIMP package won't install without a fairly recent set
of fink-unstable packages, hence if the version numbers are incorrect a
user shouldn't have to worry about crashes due to fontconfig.

Re: [Fink-devel] building The GIMP 2.0pre1

2004-01-10 Thread Todd Heidesch
Oh, thanks... I guess I should have examined the freetype2 package more
closely. I got the GIMP 2.0pre1 built with a much-modified info file
after a few trial runs, except that I had to do a hack patch for
fontconfig. The configure script says that it needs fontconfig 2.2.0 or
greater (don't quote me on specific numbers here), which is the version
in Apple's X11 IIRC, and it always detects 1.0.4 instead, so I modified
the configure script to look for 1.0.0 or greater. I don't know an
easier way to fix it, but the GIMP 2 works great in any case. It takes
a little over an hour to compile on a 1 GHz G4.

You don't say which version of freetype2 you are talking about. In the
description of the version in 10.3/unstable it says further on:

For packages that need freetype2 version 2.1.3 or newer, there is now
a freetype2-dev splitoff. For this to work, you need to make sure that
configure finds the freetype-config script in %p/lib/freetype2/bin
The install script for freetype2 moves lib/libfreetype.la into a
lib/freetype2/ directory, but that doesn't get installed from %i into
%p so there appears to be a problem with that package.
It gets installed into %p when you install the freetype2-dev splitoff.
I can't comment on what is necessary for gimp, haven't looked at it.

/sw/fink/dists should be a symlink to /sw/fink/10.3, as long as you are
