Re: [Fink-devel] Fink clean install on 10.2 issues? (was Re: Fink audiofile package)
> I don't have > the directory structure that the others had This may be a problem for you in the future. I believe that the change which the maintainer made was to the version of the package in fink's 10.1 tree. If you are still getting the 10.1 tree in your updates, you'll be forever cutoff from later fink development. So I urge you to run the script I mentioned in my previous message. -- Dave --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: ApacheCon, November 18-21 in Las Vegas (supported by COMDEX), the only Apache event to be fully supported by the ASF. http://www.apachecon.com ___ Fink-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-devel

But some change was made by the package maintainer and now it's working, so I don't quite know how to break it again :) I don't have the directory structure that the others had, but I do have pan and xchat installed now, so... I guess I'm all set *shrug* Just seems like it was a roundabout way to get here. --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: ApacheCon, November 18-21 in Las Vegas (supported by COMDEX), the only Apache event to be fully supported by the ASF. http://www.apachecon.com ___ Fink-devel mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-devel
Re: [Fink-devel] Fink clean install on 10.2 issues? (was Re: Fink audiofile package)
> I've tried with both source installers I could find on the Fink page. Well, one is intended for 10.1 and one for 10.2, so that could be part of the problem. If you ran the bootstrap.sh found in the fink-0.4.1-full tarball, then you installed an old, 10.1, version of fink and you need to do the upgrade to 10.2. But as Martin explained, the upgrade is slightly broken right now and you may need to run "sudo /sw/lib/fink/postinstall.pl" in order to fix it. If you ran the bootstrap.sh found in the fink-0.11.0 tarball (as instructed on the jag-bootstrap page) then everything should be fine. If it is not, let's try to debug some more.

Jason, You are following the instructions on the jag-bootstrap page, and yet one of your earlier messages showed that you were in a fink-0.4.1-full directory? Where did that come from? You shouldn't have fink-0.4.1 on your system at all if you are following those instructions...

I am installing Fink on Mac OS X 10.2 and Mac OS X Server 10.2 using the directions at: http://fink.sourceforge.net/news/jag-bootstrap.php Clean installs of the OS. No upgrades. Hansen So you're telling me to look for a file that you aren't even sure is there? Ok, I'm following the directions that are provided on the website for a clean install on Mac OS X 10.2. Apparently there is something wrong with the instructions or the distribution that is suggested in the instructions. We have discovered this because of the problems I was having with the audiofile package, which the packager attributes to being that I was using the 10.1 repository instead of the 10.2 repository. Since I am doing this using clean installs following the instructions provided word for word on two different Jaguar systems, I have a feeling it's something wrong with the Fink directions or distribution.
