It will be more reasonable to contact the maintainer of the package.

First the -pthread option should probably be removed from some
configure file (I have not the source right now so I cannot say for
sure where it is). Then as all warnings are treated as errors, it fails.

You're thinking of gcjwebplugin: http://www.nongnu.org/gcjwebplugin/

Currently it's very experimental, and insecure. If you want to try to
get it working, there seem to be versions of GCJ in Fink experimental

Hi,

[Fink-users] Which e-mail client to use?

2005-06-02 Thread Clemence Magnien
Hi again,

I'm looking for advice for the choice of an email program to use.

I am a very happy mutt user (since I learned the existence of msmtp
for sending mail through a smtp server). I use imap so that my email
is stored on my mail server and I can access it from anywhere.

However, I do not currently have a dsl connection at home and don't
know if I will be able to get one in a long time. Hence I use dial-up
to check my e-mail from home.
The problem with mutt is, it downloads the messages' headers every
time it is launched, which on a dial-up connection takes a very long
time.

I am therefore looking for an e-mail client that keeps a local copy
of the messages, so it only downloads new messages when I check my
mail, AND uses imap to leave messages on the server. Mozilla mail
does this, but I find it has some buggy behaviors.
Is there another email client having all those requirements ?
(I add that I do not run gnome or kde, which makes kmail unusable
for me)

Cheers,
Clemence

Also following Michele's advice, I tried to run 'fink install libsoup-ssl'

I believe that more recent versions of Mutt support caching of IMAP
headers, so you may want to give them a look. These versions aren't in
Fink, so you'd have to build them yourself, but that shouldn't be that
hard.

And I haven't tried these versions myself, so I can't say how well they
work.

Now if I could just find a way to get mutt working with UTF-8
text... :-(

thanks for replying.

I have chosen yours simply because it was a short post. It happens
with most posts. Practically I get everything doubled.
I have seen this only recently (since last week or so). My previous
other digests look normal. I can't believe it is because users here
have changed habit: they must have been doing the very same even
before, still I was not affected by this *double posting* look.

Cheers

Massimo

That's not a problem with the mailing list, that's the first post
was cross-posted and all replies were made clicking answer all in

Fink, so you'd have to build them yourself, but that shouldn't be that
 hard.

Clemence, I see you already found comp.mail.mutt:) If you get a newer

fink's package so we can update it (of he's AWOL, you can take over as
maintainer and submit a new pkg yourself).

Oh, sorry, did not see it. Well you did not report which branch,

Also following Michele's advice, I tried to run 'fink install
libsoup-ssl'

and 'fink install libsoup-ssl-shlibs', and both failed with
apparently the same error message.

Seems a problem solved with a newer version of libsoup-ssl in fink-
experimental.

Here's the relevant thread:

Maybe you should contact jfm to know if the proposed change is

You should now be able (after updating) to install first libsooup-ssl
and then evolution.

BTW: Thanks for the reminder Michèle... -)

You should avoid ssl libraries at the moment, that is probably
install gnome-vfs2 and not gnome-vfs2-ssl. Then it could probably work.

This problem can be solved by removing the ssl-related gnome packages
and replacing them with their non-ssl equivalents. For example I
replaced all the gnome-vfs2-* packages. YMMV.

gdft.c:1366:35: fontconfig/fontconfig.h: No such file or directory

This has come up a couple of times on the list. The file
/usr/X11R6/include/fontconfig/fontconfig.h is missing, it should have
been installed by the X11SDK.pkg from the Xcode packages on your system
disk. Please try to reinstall this pkg.

And please tell us afterwards whether you succeeded. I just looked
through the list archives and, annoyingly, none of the other guys who
had this file missing ever reported afterwards if and how his problem
was solved.
