RE: Little Horse Show
This message is from: Evers <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi all, I must agree with Gayle Ware, the Little Horse Show was a blast!! Thanks so much Becky and Bob! ( and crew of course). I certainly hope that we will have the same chance next year. Dad and I took our three year old, Paradise's Taffeta (Taffy) who I have been riding for only a bit over a month. First thing Saturday morning I saddled her with my western saddle for only the second time in her life, I have been riding her English, and took her into the arena for a warm up ride. Well I made it half way into the saddle and she decided to buck me off, but the day went up hill from there on out! We got a fifth place in Western pleasure for green horses ( OK, so there were only 5 in the class...) We did get a very respectable 4th place in the English Pleasure for green horses with a class of eight! Then in the driving class for green horses we actually won second place!! I didn't even realize it was our number that had been called until they said Taffy's name. All in all it was the most fun I have had in a long time. There were lots of wonderful people there and of course horses too. I had never had the chance to see Icelandic horses in action before, what a treat. ( No, I'm not thinking of trading off the Fjords! ) I even got to meet Sleipner, who is the father of our 3 year old Islys. What a handsome boy! Again thanks a million to Becky, Bob and crew, it was a super time! Amy Evers Dun Lookin' Fjords Redmond OR
New to the List
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello! My name is Tami Howard. I am married and have a 6 month old baby boy. I am eagerly awaiting the vet check (July 7) of a sweet little Fjord filly, Soroya. I am so excited! I have had the joy of working with Fjords in the past and have wanted one for quite some time. Pending the positive results of the vet check Soroya will move from Santa Rosa, CA to live with my family here in Newberg, OR. Soroya is a yearling out of the mare Senja by the stallion Misha. I am hoping to do lots of dressage and trails as well as some eventing with her. I am mostly the lurking type, but I love to read all of the postings. I would also love to "talk" with anyone currently competing and/or training Fjords in the eventing and dressage disciplines. Happy to meet you all. Tami

New to list
This message is from: Cathey Magill <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi everyone! I'm new to the list and would like to introduce myself and share my good news :) My name is Cathey Magill and I live on the east coast of Canada. I'm married with no children but we have plenty of pets to keep us busy! I have been riding for almost 20 years now (Ack!) and have had an Appaloosa gelding. Just this past weekend, I finally bought a dream horse - my very first Fjord :) He is only three weeks old but just a lovey. He is going to be a brown dun and be between 14.2 -15 hh. If he's going to look anything like his dad, I'll be so happy but I'm just happy with him anyway. He won't be weaned until at least November so I have weekend drives ahead of me. He's only an hour away but I miss him already :) Anyway, I hope to get to know some of you better over time. I'm more of a lurker than anything but I enjoy reading the posts :) Cathey -- * Cathey Magill [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.geocities.com/Petsburgh/Haven/1218/
Re: Info. Etc.
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello everyone, Just a thought on the ideas for Equitana. If they are planning a "battle" scene depicting a Nordic battle with their Icelandics, it will be totally "un-Nordic, or as some wish to call it, Viking" without a mythic by-theme. The Norse felt at every battle the Valkyries were present. These 13 divine females rode their steeds crazily around, through, and above the battle, looking for acceptable warriors to escort to Valhalla. If they found one, they would lift the slain warrior onto the said Valkyrie's steed, and ride away to the rainbow bridge, Bifrost, to take him to his new dwelling. Also, some of these Valkyries were said to ride at the side of, or behind a chosen warrior, protecting him from harm. I think it would be pretty awesome to see thirteen women riding their Fjords in Valkyrie gear, weaving in and out of the battle, collecting "souls", while a few of these Valkyries actresses rode by the side of a few warriors "protecting" them. Anyway, just a thought. Lynda Bailey's Norwegian Fjord Horse Farm

This message is from: Jean Ernest <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Stella's son Bjorken measured 41.5 inches tall at birth, but I did not weigh him. Stella herself is 14-3.5 hh.Bjorken is now 15-2 hh. This was Stella's 6th foal and she had no problems, but it seemed it was an effort to push his shoulders out. Bjorken's sire is Anvils's Rikolv. Jean Gayle, I finally weaned Bjorken at 14 months...He was gelded at 11 months because I thought he might succeed in breeding mom. He is a VERY well adjusted horse! He had "Uncle" Bjarne to play with and teach him manners. (Bjarne is an older Fjord gelding now 24; he was 12 when Bjorken was born) Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, where we had thunderstorms and downpours last evening, rain all night and 1.1 inches in the rain guage. Must be haying season! At 09:58 PM 6/27/99 -0400, you wrote: >This message is from: "Nathan Lapp" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > >Viola's colt weighs 126 pounds. Yippie!!!!!
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have exciting news! I just purchased my school horse, Prins Baldur, from his owners. They are getting "out of horses" and thought I would be the best person for him to be with. I'm so happy...he has turned out to be such a love, I didn't know what I was going to do if they decided to sell him on the open market and get a really high price for him. Just thought I'd gush for a minute, I actually own a fjord now heehee!! Mike, how do I go about getting the papers transfered? They gave me all his stuff, I guess I need to sit down and really read through it. Kate...who is in heaven right now!

We really need to read Lynn Miller's comments about trusting nature, trusting our children, trusting our livestock, etc., to know what to do and let them do it. Life is really not as hard as we all make it out to be, I think. Gayle and Dusty
This message is from: "Dave McWethy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Gayle, we were thinking you at Equitana as we watched some super champion reiners demonstrate their stuff. I'm not qualified to judge, but I thought from when I've seen you that you and Dusty looked every bit as good. Mike, I have a few pictures which I will email to you.
