This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello, Thanks to everyone for letting me know about this auction. I already emailed my friend and explained the difference in breeds, etc. I was really worried for a minute! MI, UT, WI, PA, NY, CT, GA, LA, NE, MI, December 6
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello everyone, New route beginning December 6. Leaving Michigan to Utah, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Georgia, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Michigan. We have a few stalls available throughout this route. If anyone needs a Fjord transported to these states, or any states along this route, please let us know and we will give you a quote. Current Coggins and Heath certificates are required. References are available. As a side note, due to requests we have had in the past we feel it necessary to explain our policy regarding transporting horses. We offer the horses free choice hay (preferably hay they are used to from the farm they are leaving), water, and breaks every 4 hours. They also will get an overnight break. Please do not ask us to drive straight through and to not give the horses breaks, we will not do this. We realize the cost for you could be less, certainly, but we will not transport our own horses or ponies in this fashion, nor will we anyone else's. Our goal is to have the horses and ponies arrive to their new farm in the best possible condition with the least amount of trauma. This is a tried and proven practice for transporting horses as safely as possible. Thanks, Lynda and Daniel Bailey's Norwegian Fjords Quality Fjords--Equine Transportation--Hand-braided Tack & Accessories White Cloud, MI 231-689-9902 [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://hometown.aol.com/baileysfjords/

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Linda, I'm from Northeast Ohio and can vouch for the Halflinger population. There's a Halflinger in every farmyard around here, at least it seams that way! That's why I'm holding out for a Fjord (someday). Saddle fit
This message is from: "Nancy Hotovy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello - I also have a VERY old Circle Y saddle with the full quarter bars and it has fit every Fjord I've ridden in the 10 years or so. (Many) I bought a new Circle Y show saddle in the past 4 - 5 years, also with the full quarter bars and find it fits nicely also. I don't believe this saddle has any narrower tree than my old one but others could be different. My latest purchase was a Crates reining saddle with full quarter bars and it might be my imagination but I think this saddle might be just a little bit wider. It does fit nicely on the horse's back and they do very well with it. The new owners of the last two horses I sold this fall came with their own saddles which they thought were plenty wide enough but. . . . the first one saddled the horse and Bjorn started shaking his head up and down and when she cinched him up he stretched way out. After convincing her that this was not normal behavior, we put my saddle on him to which he stood perfectly still and never bobbed his head. The second one was very careful saddling Kelsey but he got very antsy, wouldn't stand still and fussed a lot. When I got on him, he was very "hot" and nervous. Again, put my saddle on him and he stood perfectly still, rode off great and "taught" the buyers 6 year old son to ride in the round pen. It was great to watch when we put the boy on to ride, Kelsey dropped his head and walked ever so gently with his young rider. Within 1/2 hour they were stopping, turning both ways and backing. Needless to say one of my husbands favorite horses has a new home. Both instances proved to me totally what a good saddle fit really does for a horse. Nancy The Upper Forty www.upperforty.com
vacation horses
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just thought I would try to answer the question about rental horses and fearful riders. I have not had the luck to go on any extended rides, but have been on lots of 1/2 day rides in a lot of different countries and states, Colorado, Hawaii, England, Bermuda, and Australia and others. I think it is always hard and nerve wracking to get on a strange horse, but I have not had one bad experience in all of our rides. These have been groups of just us, to about 10 people, and I always have lots of worries. What if I have to go to the bathroom? What if the horse is too much, too dull, and so on. Now that I have arthritic knees, I am worried about getting on too! Because I am a heavy person, they always give me the tallest horse they have. In Australia last winter it was a 16.3hh ex race horse! I asked it they had a nice large mounting block (most places have great ones) and the young girl said, Oh no, mate, we use a milk carton. Yikes I thought, but turns out the Australian milk cartons are twice as high as ours so it worked fine! I have found the horses to be if anything, more quiet than mine at home. And I am an intermediate rider, at best. The people running these things have seen it all, and are usually good humored and very knowledgeable. They will listen to your worries and do the best to get you the right horse. Then you go out on a nice scenic trail on a sure footed horse who has done it all before. I have seen canyons and pineapple fields and beaches and trees full of cockatoos. It is always great fun. Be sure you talk to the guides; they are always leading a life completely different than yours and are full of stories. Good luck, and have fun. Tell us about it when you get back. Valerie

calendars?
This message is from: bolinsj <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I haven't heard anything about Fjord calendars this year, so, if anyone is interested, we have some small calendars available for the cost of printing and postage (about $2) each. They are the size of an 8.5X11 sheet folded in half. About half the watercolor pictures are Fjords. These are home-made items, not professional. I made them up on the home computer for friends and family. The cover features a photo of our gorgeous (to us) Kilar preparing for cones class at a CDE. If interested, please respond privately with your mailing address. Does anyone else have Fjord calendars for sale?? I remember buying some a couple years back - one was home made, like ours and one was very professional. thanks, Martie in MD [EMAIL PROTECTED]
