saddle for Fjord

I was looking for a nicely fitting saddle for years.
For my very wide mare I ordered a treeless western saddle
from Germany and it is extremely comfortable for both of us.
There are various models on the market. This one is made by Trekker Treeless
Saddles.it is extremely light!
I was also very pleased with their service.

For my not quite so round gelding I went with a Abetta
Arabian Endurance Saddle which turned out to be a good choice
as well.

Both saddles were ordered via internet.

Good Luck

Wintec now makes a "Wide" english saddle with changeable gullets...Wide,
Wider and Widest!

It also has the Air filled "care" panels. The synthetics do look like
leather and are light and easy to care for.

The Wintec Pro Australian Stock saddle is really nice, with the changeable
gullet, my friend Walt Brunner has one for his Fjord. Unfortunately the
largest seat is too small for meI bought it originally and sold it to
him.

I have had pretty good luck with Ortho-flex saddles and do have a couple
for sale as I am a hopeless tack-o-holic and now have five. I would like
to sell the 16" Patriot (Like a fancy Mclellan) and the 18.5 inch
Stitchdown (a cushy padded all purpose/endurance style English) They are
spendy, tho, but if you are interested, email me privately.

Jean in Fairbanks, Alaska, +10, a mild winter! 3hrs, 45 min daylight!

WOW, it's been a while all right Mary ! So nice to see a post from you on
the Fjord List and I hope you're here to stay... you always had very good
contributions and were quite knowledgable about Fjords.

Wish I could help you with the information you're seeking but haven't heard
of those particular ones. Best of Luck to you in your quest.

Looking for Fjords

2004-12-16 Thread Mary Thurman
This message is from: Mary Thurman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Hello List,

It's been a while since I belonged to the fjordhorse
list. While we no longer own/breed Fjords - our last
one died about 2 years ago - I still maintain an
interest in the breed. Our grandaughter has recently
begun looking for a horse. How I wish I still had one
for her. Unfortunately, we sold our last two geldings
in 2000. I have tried to locate them, with no luck.
They were sold to "non-Fjord" people, who apparently
did not notify the Registry of the horses' resale.

SoI need help from the List. If anyone out there
owns - or knows someone who owns - either Raintree's
Sindar(by Misha out of Raintree's Flikke) or
Glendar(by Anvil's Rikolv out of Paske) would you
please contact me.

Thanks.

We have had luck with a Wintec that is sold by Stateline Tack through
PetCo. It may also be in their catalog. When we bought it at PetCo
there was a 30 day return policy. It is a very inexpensive saddle
($300), so perhaps would not hold up to heavy use. Many of us with
Fjords around here have found this saddle works well.

Good Morning Everyone, After a saddle slipping accident two weeks
ago, we are convinced we need a wider saddle to better fit our Fjord
mare. We are looking for a Western saddle or Western endurance saddle.
We may have to have one custom made. Please share ALL adivce and give
any suggestions that you think might help. Thank you all and have a
very Merry Christmas!! Lee HardinMountains of North Carolina

Lee, my advice to you is search thru the archives for this List. I think
this may be one of the top 5 topics on this List, so be prepared for alot
of reading!  I did contribute some detailed info about saddle fitting in
the past (especially concerning western saddles - do a keyword search
Ricotti, McCarthy ), as have others like Amy Evers, Jean Ernest & others,
so this is where I would start off first, then as you have more specific
questions, fire away!

Good luck & happy reading Lee!

afraid not =)))

If you search the Fjord email list archives I'm sure you can find some good

non slip saddle pad

2004-12-16 Thread brass-ring-farm
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have had very good luck with an English made saddle pad called
a "Limpet." Limpet means barnacle in English, it sticks like a barnacle.
Anyway, I bought a western one 3 years ago at our Equine Affaire and have
to report it works as well as advertised. It is some kind of dense foam.
Of course you want a saddle that fits, but they can still slip on horses
with no withers. I don't think a horse could have less pronounced withers
than my Kristi, but my husband can mount from the ground (western Wintec
saddle) and it doesn't slip with this pad.
Wow, I just looked at the prices, they have almost doubled since
I bought one.
Good luck,
