trail riding

Thank you Linda for you kind words. It was a WONDERFUL day. Nothing beats
trail riding in great fall weather!I picked Giz to ride, Janet McNally's
gelding who is in for training. I've been doing more driving with Giz and
thought I'd take Giz out for one last ride, Janet is coming on Monday to get
him. I thought he might be a little more up(which I perfer then sleepy) but
nope got sleepy.

I worried the most about Linda's friend, knowing he doesn't ride much. So I
gave him our 21 yr old foundation QH School horse. She has never failed me,
but I still worry. I did worry a little about Hans but I know Linda is a
wonderful rider so didn't worry as much. It is always nerve racking hoping
the horse you have been working will be good for their owner.

I personally think Hans is a SUPER FUN horse to ride. He is up for sale if
anyone is interested and has a GREAT foundation on him. The boy will be a
versatile horse for someone. I think he would be well suited for dressage. He
has a good mouth on him, he is VERY forward, GREAT walk, great work ethic,
good gaits. Learns quickly in the ring and out. He also is SOLID on the
trails. Very sensible and level headed boy. He is not a deadhead, which I
find fun to ride. A horse that enjoys being out, wants to go and is not
spooky.

Linda has him priced to sell too at $4250.00, contact either Linda or myself
and we can tell you more about him.

The best part about working with the horses is getting to know the owners
better. AND with Fjord owners it really is the cream of the crop! I've
gotten to know a lot of REALLY nice people over the years and feel very
blessed by it. I really try very hard to accomplish what the owners would like
with their horse. Sometimes it happens as smooth as silk and other times well
it doesn't go as well. I was happy with Hans' training. Of course he needs
more but like I said he has a great foundation and someone can pick him up and
continue on and have a lot of fun doing it. He is also VERY personable!

Hi All,
I'm looking for a discussion group on natural hoof care and the use of
horse boots. Anyone have a favorite list serve or Yahoo group???

Also, I've been using an Abetta trail saddle with an Arabian tree on
my 55 gallon drum shaped mare. I noticed that Abetta now has a flex
tree in both the Arabian and full QH bars trees. Anyone know anything
about these new trees???

Trail Riding on 10-1

Hello Group.

I just wanted to share with you a wonderful trail riding story.

I picked up my Gelding, Hans Oka, that I had at Patti Jo Walters. He was
there for 30 days to get him ready for a 3 day trail ride that I leave for this
Thursday.

We could not have asked for better weather, the sun was out, just the right
temp w/ a slight breeze. Patti rode another Fjord she had in for training, I
rode Hans and a friend of mine rode a "steady eddy," an old schooling horse of
Patti's (my friend has very little riding experience). Needed to break him in
as he is going on the 3 day trail ride with me. He will be riding my Gelding,
Spruce Hills Markus.

WE rode for close to 3 hours, up and down hills, thru creeks, brush the flats
etc. Patti has wonderful neighbors that allow her to ride their land. It was
most enjoyable. Patti did an excellent job of getting Hans ready for me. He is
very forward and outwalked the Fjord she rode and the steady eddy.

Neither horses lost it, when a bike went peddling by, nor when the motorcycle
cruised by, or when the truck roared by. The neighborhood had just been tp'd
the night before. So of course the trees were littered w/ white flags. None of
the horses thought twice about them.

Hans was a very good horse, he stepped in a hole, part of the front leg
disappeared, he step up and kept on walking. He never freaked. My friend did.

Patti Jo delivered what I asked for and then some with Hans. She did a
excellent job, and I feel confident in myself, him and his training to handle
the 3
day ride like a true Fjord.
