Horse Haulers

Since we seem to ship Fjord all over the country, wouldn't it be great to
have a webpage - maybe on the NFHR site - for shippers to post their contact
info? We've all had good and bad experiences, so maybe by referral or
something. I know Mike, one more thing to throw into your already
over-flowing pot :-)

Can anyone recommend good horse hauling companies, or help me avoid
bad ones? I will be needing one from W. Michigan to Santa Fe, New
Mexico in the next couple of months. I have found companies on the
web that do weekly trips east/west/east, but have no idea how good
they are. Any tips would be useful. Many thanks, Linda.

Hi all,

Hope everyone is surviving winter. I have a question for all of you that
might quilt or sew. I have box's and box's of ribbons left over from past
Libby shows and was wondering if there was anything that I could make with all
of them.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,

This is an excellent idea. There's nothing like personal
recommendations. I have received lots of responses to my posting with
people's experiences and it has really helped me narrow down which
haulers to contact. Otherwise I would have randomly picked a few
companies and hoped for the best. Linda

Was Della loose in her stall, or was she tied? I like the idea of them
being loose, not constrained in any way. Do I need to put shipping boots, or
any other protection?

She was loose and had enough room to easily turn around, walk back and
forth, and could have laid down if she had been so inclined. Della did not
have
any shipping boots, nor did the other horses he transported on that trip. If
you have someone you know is an uneasy traveler, or paws and kicks, it's
probably a good idea. But I wouldn't put them on for my guys if I was
shipping
again.

I saw in one of the horse magazines someone that used
show ribbons to make a quilt but don't remember which

Here you go Sherrie, maybe this will help:

http://www.showthrow.com/index.html

This woman is amazing; I think she makes a living out of doing all sorts of
creations from ribbons.
Gosh, I coulda had a quilt made from mine, but when we moved to Oregon from
Nevada I made myself throw out at least 1/2 of my ribbons that i had
accumulated since 1980. It was hard deciding which ones to toss, as each held
a fragment of the horse show.
I think making pillows would be a fun project; I'll file that as maybe i'll be
sitting more than I care too one day..
