This one is pricey but it's 72, it's used for crowd control training.

Calling all creative types--Need help with farm name

2008-08-24 Thread KBatchelor
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi, all--

My husband Tom and I have spent the last month moving across town and
finally bringing our three Fjord geldings home! It has been an amazing,
exhausting
and humbling experience. Now that the dust is starting to settle, I would
love to come up with a farm name, but haven't hit upon the right one yet.
Here is some basic info:

-14 flat acres with great pasture, simple barn, wooded trails and a stream
-Three Fjord geldings, two brown, one grey: they are simply for pleasure,
trail riding and beginning driving--no breeding or showing
-Two dogs, a Pug and a Lab, one cat
-We have three little boys, ages 11, 8 and 5
-My husband is an Internal Medicine physician
-I am a stay-at-home mom and all living things around me are MALE

I would love to find a name that is personal, unpretentious and combines
something about the boys or the Fjords...even a cute equestrian or medical
term.
Some that we have considered are:

Portly Pony Farm
Equine-imity
Something involving three (for sons and geldings)
Fjord Fields

Thanks for any suggestions!

I have a 48 ball that is a bladder with a fabric cover- like a cage ball.
I don't remember the company I ordered it from, but it is VERY durable, and,
at the time (about 2 yrs ago), was only $50! Last winter we used it
for couple of fun nights with a large group of horses, and it did just
fine. It was no longer pristinely CLEAN, but it did the job! We also used
the balance balls that those humans who are into that sort of thing use for
exercise, and they did well too. I threw one of the 24 balance balls out
into the pasture to desensitize my horses and the only thing that really
damaged it was the sun.

 Hi All,

I am looking for a place to purchase a *large*
inflatable ball for use as a horse soccer ball and
desentization tool. Equi-spirit has one that is 40
inches. I am looking for one that is a bit bigger,
maybe five feet or even bigger. There are 50 inch
balls, but I do not think they are as puncture proof
 as the smaller equi-spirt balls.

 Anyone have a source?

 Gail

Hi steve,

Thank you for answering my question in regard to resizing photos. I followed
your instructions and managed to 'git 'er done'

Thank you, too, for making this available. Sure makes sense and seems much
simpler for folks looking to buy a Fjord - rather than having to slog through
the 'other' sites with so many breeds.

 Hi, Gail--

I got a great horse ball from sporttogo.com...it is an animal training
  ball
that is also used for zoo and circus animals and is pretty indestructible.
You can get them with a variety of really cute washable covers, and I
 think
that I paid about $100. To get an idea of size, look at my Clyde's
 picture on
the NFHR website and there is a picture on his registration of the ball
 balanced on his head.

Let me know if you need more info...good luck!

Re: Question for the Parelli Fjord Folks

2008-08-24 Thread Heather Baskey
This message is from: Heather Baskey [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello All,
Just wanted to update you (almost a month later from the original
question - how time flies) that every journey does begin with a single step.
I
cannot believe how this summer has flown by and how Henry I have moved along
in our journey together.
I continuously journal in my blog which helps out a
great deal to map our progress and where we started and where we are now.  It
seems so unreal that only 10 weeks ago I was coaxing a 2 year old into the
barn.  That seems so inconceivable now as Henry is just so into the routine
and so part of his new family (the herd and humans).
In 10 weeks, we have 5 of
the Parelli games going very well (out of 7) and working on our 6th this
week.   Although I have absolutely put NO time limit on our training - I just
might get 7 games in 3 months on a blank slate.  HUGE for me - I am in NO
way a horse trainer!!! and Henry has been an absolute joy to work with
(despite the challenging, putting on the brakes moments - LOL!!!).
Iam LOVING
the Fjord experience
Thank you to ALL who helped me along the way when I
posted the Question for PNH folks.  PNH and non-PNH replied with awesome
suggestions and I appreciated all replies.

sorry, i think i sent a blank reply.wrong button on my laptop.

when i first got oz i took him to a desinsitization clinic. one of the
objects they used was a large ball, though i don't think it was a strong as
those
you are describing. we rolled it at him several times, and at the time he
really
didn't like it very much. as a matter of fact, somehow he ended up popping
the darn thing, and i think he was quite glad to be done with it.
