I'm looking for Amy Evers or anyone from the Oregon Fjord Horse Club
regarding my Fjord Print.
It sounds like everyone had a good time at Moses Lake.
We are going to the Libby Show, where a good time will once again be had by
all.See you in Libby.

Hypothetical Mating

2008-09-01 Thread Lisa Designs, LLC

This message is from: Lisa Designs, LLC [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I would like to breed my mare this spring. Ijust bought a gelding out of a
stallion that is within reasonable distance from me and I have been
impressed with this gelding's temperament, if I could breed this gelding to
my mare it would be ideal -- but as such I am looking at the gelding's sire.
I am breeding only for a baby to keep -- to bring along for my own saddle
horse. Right now my daughter kind of took over my mare as she outgrew her
pony, which leaves me on my husband's mare, that I don't particularly care
for, when we ride together. Ideally if I could clone my mare I would be
happy, but I don't think that is going to happen either! So I guess the next
best thing is to breed my mare to my gelding's sire, however looking at
pedigrees I do see a mare that appears twice -- as the dam of the stallion I
am looking to breed to and the great-granddam of my mare. Does this make it
too close up to breed?

I thought about breeding her full sister to this stallion last year, but
didn't as I was worried about this same thing. I tried breeding another mare
of mine out of completely different lines to him last spring, but she didn't
settle and I have heard of other mares with her pedigree having problems
settling as well, so she is out. And ideally I would really like a baby out
of my favorite mare. I love working with babies and miss having a youngster
that I knew I did everything on from start to finish.

Here is the hypothetical mating:
http://www.nfhr.org/ponyweb/ponyweb.cgi?mating

I used to have arabs and bred several babies from my favorite arab mare who
is now deceased, but never had to worry about this particular problem
before!

Thanks!

I have a friend whose father recently died. He had bought an old horse
collar and was using the brass knob part to make a cane for her mom when he
fell
sick. My friend's husband is now going to finish the cane, but they want to
know if there is a name for the brass knob (besides brass knob???)?
Thanks,
Patty

My favorites are the extended leg patch, with deerskin. But the deerskin
does need some special treatment for washing.

My second favorite are the full seat clarinos - I am not sure they actually
stick me to the saddle any better, but they make me feel like a real rider!

Most often I wear the clarino knee patch breeches. These are holding up
well after a year's worth of washing, although the clarino is a bit stiff when
it's dried.

Well, I just ordered two pairs of the enduracool clarino seats. I don't like
leather seats although I have never had deerskin specifically. The sale is a
great deal so I hope I like them. Does anyone know if the sale is only for
today?

Robin in hot, humid Florida with morning humidity between 80 and 89%--fjords
are already clipped. I am down to 45 minutes a horse for the bodies and they
don't look half bad but I get a lot of practice here in the winter!

Clipping

2008-09-01 Thread KateSeidel
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have been agonizing for the last three days as to whether I should do
another full body clip for Joe, my particularly hairy gray. I clipped him
down
to the skin on Memorial Day, and his full coat is back. Poor boy was sweaty
by 8:30 yesterday, but I am worried that if I clip him now, it won't all be
back by the time the nights cool down in November.

I think I'll just clip him and put him out of this heat and humidity
nightmare. Miss Della has a naturally sleek summer coat and does not seem to
mind.
On the other hand, flies bother His Hairiness much less

Kate

with Joe (who is woefully out of shape due to his 3+ month rehab)
and Della (who cannot help snickering at Joe huffing and puffing up the
hills)
