Hello everyone from Libby. I have been contacted by the Nordicfest folks
who are in charge of the Nordicfest web site. They are looking for any
action shots of the horse show this year for posting. If any one that was
here have any great shots you would like to share you can contact me
privately or give me a call at
406-293-5861.

It has been a fab fall here this year. Still no snow some frost but a TON
of
fog, we are all starting to talk with a brit accent. Right now it is
almost
noon and can't see more that 50 yard from my porch. The horses look like
ghosts lurking out in the yard;-)

Michelle sorry to hear about you tranny troubles. I just spent $1,800.00
for
a new one in my truck. It really bites. Had to use the money I had
borrowed
to finish the barn to fix the truck. Robbing Peter to pay Paul does not
work
any more, Paul is to broke to pay attention let alone bills:{

Well better get to work, the housework faries did not show up again!!!

We have a King Herald grand-daughter, Ingrid III (a Leif daughter). She is
also extremely sweet and loving and very tolerant and gentle. She has a
dark, very pretty face. Her yearling son in also very sweet and gentle.
Sort of the classic Fjord nature multiplied. So it seems that sweetness is
pretty dominant in his offspring.

I heard today that Ed Johnson's Fjord, Anvil's Hartvik (spelling?) took
Reserve Champion last night, too. His wife, Sharon's gelding also placed in
halter. They bought both Fjords from Nancy's Fjordhorses. I'm pretty happy
for them. I THINK this was their first try at showing their horses.

I just came back from dropping in on the La Plata County Fair Draft Horse
and Mule Show, in Durango, Colorado, tonight. I was very happy to see 5-6
Fjords competing and doing very well. A Fjord gelding owned by Ed Johnson
in Pagosa Springs received the blue ribbon in the gelding halter class. All
the Fjords were very nice horses and it was rewarding to hear the announcer
repeatedly extol the virtues of the Norwegian Fjordhorse. I was too busy
looking at the Fjords out back and visiting with owners to see how they all
placed, but there were also nice horses owned by Aaron Taylor also in the
Durango area.

I'm going the show in Libby, just myself (not bringing horses,) and would
like to be part of a list potluck. I'm really looking forward to seeing so
many of the horses that I've only heard about... and their people.

calcium test strips

This message is from: Dianna Saleh [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Awhile ago someone was trying to find out where they could get test strips
for checking calcium levels in the mare's milk to help determine foaling
time. I found some at Nasco 1-800-558-9595 for $10/per 50 strips, cat.
#SB27488. It took about 6 days to get them. I have a Fjord mare, Siri,
due in three days and will try to figure out how or if they work for that.
I've heard it said that color of the milk will tell as much, which seemed to
be the case with my Morgan mare last summer.

Re: Carol and bloodlines.

I'd like to say that I find everything Carol has to say very interesting.
I'd love to hear more. I e-mailed her and told her I'd like it if she'd
write a book about Fjord bloodlines. Maybe I'd be the only one to read it,
but I'd probably wear it out just like her other book. I think even if the
day comes that I know as much as she does there will still be something to
learn.

I also enjoy hearing people talk about the horses they love. I think she is
honestly expressing how she feels and isn't trying to deceive anyone.

Just as we're proud when our children accomplish good things we can also be
when our horses go on to accomplish good things, whatever they may be. I
was glad to share in her joy.
