Update on our new arrivals

Thanks to those who responded to us on and off the list. Rinska and
filly are both doing great! They are settling right in and are well on
their way to being part of our family. The vet called with the blood
work results and gave baby a clean bill of health, so we have taken her
off of the antibiotics. Looks like we are going to have a happy ending.
By the way, the filly has a reddish face, reddish dorsal stripe, reddish
points above her eyes, and red curls in her mane and tail but has black
way down deep in the mane and at the tip of the tail so she is probably a
brown dun.

We're looking for a name for the filly. Does anyone know the Norwegian
word for in transport or moving or something like that?

Two for the price of one? (long)

Howdy everyone,

I'm a long time lurker of the list and have thoroughly enjoyed all the
stories and info everyone has shared. But I guess it's time I post my
own.

Well, it started a few months ago. I saw Tim Hamlett's ad in the Herald
about selling his horses. I knew he owned A.S. Rinska and was kicking
around the idea of contacting him about buying her, but never did. Then,
I saw the post about his horses going to the Waverly auction and decided
if I was going to act, I better do something now. So, I contacted a
member of the list that I knew was going to the auction and contracted
them to purchase Rinska and board her until transportation could be
arranged.

A.S. Rinska by Modellen (white dun) out of Tilly (German import red dun)
was bred to Grabbson on August 28th (we were told). Our contractor won
the bid on her, took Rinska to their farm and has had her up until the
transport company picked her up last Thursday. So, finally, Rinska is on
her way home.

Now it gets sticky. The transport company was scheduled for a 2 day
layover in Billings, MT to give the horses coming from the East Coast a
break. They stopped sometime late Friday/early Saturday. Well, Sunday
morning we got a call from a very frantic transport company. Rinska had
her foal. Needless to say, everyone was very surprised!

So, we missed the birth of our first baby! The filly was full term, so
obviously Rinska was bred before August 28th.

Rinska and filly finally arrived at our farm around 2 PM, Tuesday.
Rinska didn't get 10 feet off the trailer and was bending down to eat
grass. The filly was helped off the trailer and put down in the yard and
once she got her land legs she was racing around the yard bucking and
kicking.

We had the vet out today. He checked Rinska out and she is fine. He
gave baby an enema, drew blood, put her on antibiotics (precautionary
until we get blood test results) and is worried she might colic. She
seems to be doing fine though. She's pretty active and very friendly.
So, we're keeping our fingers crossed.

Howdy,

I talked to Lisa Pedersen yesterday on the telephone. She said she has
been busy working and one of her jobs was with 6 of her horses working
with teenage girls at a riding camp and foaling out 3 mares. She said to
say hi to the list - the computer is unplugged and she is making plans to
go to Blue Earth.

I, like Gail Russell, enjoy the digest daily and especially since this
carpal tunnel I have is getting me down and it is finally getting to be
summer.

Thank you.

 Hi all,

Did Lisa Pedersen ever reappear? I know someone posted about her on
 the
list, and I had been wondering what had become of her. Anyone ever
 hear?

Howdy,

  A huge
 thank
you to Sophie and Howard Feidler for their generosity in sharing
 their farm
and Fjords with us..., to Pat Holland for all your organizational
 managing,
... to the Jensons for their wonderful teaching and sharing, to Pat
 Wolfe
for all the helpful draft information and demos, and especially to
 the
clinic participants who so courageously allowed the rest of us to
 observe
 your learning! You were great!
This was our first fjord event, too, and it surely will not be our
 last!
There are another 100 or so participants to thank as well, since I
 think we
learned something from everyone we met!

Yes, Thankyou one and all for making my first trip east enjoyable!
Putting faces with messages on this mode of communication much more
interesting. It was cold but warm in the Midwest, Thankyou Mike

Howdy Baileys Fjords,
Earlier today I was at Baileys web looking at FC Gwendellin because of
the advertisement for her full sister for sale by Fjord Crossing [Peter
and Deb Coggiola] Then you have the great pictures up so soon. Wow, are
you helping Deb sell FC Mona? Yes they are like potato chips! Thanks
for the pictures, but I think it's going to cost me! Good luck with
your beautiful filly!
Hope to meet more of you folks in Galena next month!

Howdy all,
I am Mike Melbye, newbie to Fjord world. While attending the PNFPG pre
evaluation seminar in April, meeting most for first time and asking lots
of beginner questions, I was advised to check out Trinity Fjords web
page! Well Brian and Ursula Jensen have a driving weekend custom fit to
individual needs that is fantastic!!
We showed up on Friday evening to go over itinerary with Brian and enjoy
beautiful scenery from porch on the cabin.
Morning lesson with lunch break then afternoon lesson and pleasure drive
both days! After pleasure drive we go to the big house for Ursula's
great dinner and dessert! After dinner it's back to cabin for campfire
under the stars.
Excellent training, friendly well trained Fjords, comfy cabin, gourmet
dinner and feel at home friendship atmosphere! Perfect learning weekend
and I'm glad I couldn't learn it all in one weekend because I can't wait
to go back for another driving weekend!
Thank you Brian and Ursula for the best learning experience ever.

Howdy,
I'm Michael Melbye [48] from western Washington. I've been lurking since
the holidays. I purchased 2000 filly and spoke for 2001 filly by Montano
from Dakota Hills Fjords. I won't pickup fillies till fall so have been
reading and dreaming every day! Thankyou for the list!
I joined NFHR and purchased The Fjordhorse Handbook by Carol Rivoire
[thankyou Carol for your time and energy] great book! Since I just
joined NFHR I didn't recieve the Herald and would like to purchase back
issue if possible?
I've been around horses most of my life but haven't had any in 10 years.
I moved out of town onto 10 acres summer of ' 99 so have fences to build
etc. in anticipation of new sister team. All the information has been
helpful, thankyou all.
