Fjord gelding for sale in Ontario
This message is from: Edgar is a 5 year old, Registered Brown Dun gelding, he is 14.2hh. He has been broke to ride and received "the basics" for driving from an excellent (ok, the best) Fjord trainer summer 2008. He is "Mr. Personality" and loves people, loads into a trailer as quick as you open the door, steps out when told, and is best pals with the vet and farrier. Edgar handles nicely and loves attention but I am a very timid rider with a 4 small children and a full time job. I've managed to have an excellent rider out to work with him weekly for the past eight months but she is scheduled for surgery and can't ride for several months. He is in need of someone with riding skills and time to give him a job. We are just over an hour from the border and the U.S. dollar would put our southern neighbours at an advantage... Resend ... Edgar is at Horse School!
This message is from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> A couple days ago I sent this out... forgetting to say where we are... I've received an email asking for Pat's info & thought I should resend, with my own info ... Pat's website is: http://www.patwolfefjords.com/ Last year I went on Pat Wolfe's Driving Course and had a wonderful time learning from him. I also enjoyed the opportunity to see Pat working with horses, how they respond to him, and how they respond to us on the course once they are trained by him. On the last day of the course I told Pat I'd wait until he had time before I sent my horse to anyone else... luckily enough he put a quick note on the list in March saying he was available to train... I held off until the next morning (it was tough to not call him at 11 at night when I read the email!) and called ... Edgar has been with Pat for a month now, I've received progress reports and now have a picture of Pat with Edgar under saddle as my screen saver. Tuesday I put the little ones into daycare, then drove the 1.5 hours to visit before I went (another 1.5 hour drive) to work - I can't believe the changes! Pat has had to work through some of the "spoiling" (sorry Pat!) but he has incredible patience! You could see Edgar glow as we harnessed him , then they went for tours ground driving.. stop, start, stop, start... gentle correction to stand, praise and moving on when asked... Then Pat worked one of his fjords who is being trained, what a beautiful temperament and willing horse, and after the two fjords came a cute-as-a-button pony who amazed me after just one week of training. Pat was wearing a pedometer to count his steps in a day... I think the little step-counter will self-destruct keeping up with Pat! I'm just so happy I waited for the right trainer for my horse, and for me. Gwenn East of Ottawa, Ontario (Pat is West of Ottawa) The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw

Losing a foal...
This message is from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My sympathies to you and to your poor mare... I can't tell you from the equine direction, but I have access to a wealth of info & experience on nursing human babies. You would probably be best off to milk off a little a couple times a day, and less every few days, stepping down the quantity. Yes, this will slow the drying up process, but it could keep her in milk long enough to find an orphan foal for her. It could also prevent a nasty case of mastitis (all cases of mastitis are nasty), an infection of the milk glands which could take quite a while to heal, can damage the tissue and which can be very expensive with the vet... She would probably also appreciate the company... Gwenn The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
Edgar for sale... Ontario
This message is from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My wonderful 3yo fjord gelding Edgar is seeking a new home. He has asked that his new person be willing to train him and to make good use of his huge extended trot, forward attitude and very friendly personality. The poor lad is tired of his career as a lawn ornament and needs to do more than eat and visit with all passers-by. Mind you, eating is his favourite activity and must be included in his future schedule. Being a friendly guy, he likes all horses he meets, and is quite willing to mutually groom any new buddies that come his way. Very tall buddies might find a line of "not groomed" half-way up as he is 13.2hh, a giant in his own heart. He kindly accepted the farriers report that he has the best feet ever seen, and loved the manicure provided during the foot massage... The vet has been added to the long list of adoring fans as he simply tried to eat the Coggins test paper and was completely unconcerned while receiving all his vaccines and microchip. A recent training opportunity fell through and his very green owner is just not able to move past simple ground manners and trailer loading training. Edgar desires to be used for riding or driving, and loving and demands the opportunity to show off. The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
