Re: Evaluation Season..Thank you Phillip
This message is from: whup...@aol.com Hello All Phillip loved your post. Thank you. It is not to late to sign up for an eval!. I just pulled out an old Evaluation sheet out of my stack of paper work...NO it is just not legs. Horses are evaluated on BREED TYPE, HEAD, NECK, BODY, FORELEGS, HINDLEGS, MOVE/WALK, MOVE/TROT, OVERALL. These scores are important to anybody who may want to breed our loved Fjords. If your horse is weak in one area you can breed to a horse strong in that area. I will be bring at least 7 to our evaluation in Fallbrook, CA. All colors will be there. I hope everyone gets their horse evaluated. This program is helpful to keep our breed strong! If you even think you want to breed get your horse evaluated. This will help you when you decided who to breed to., Keep on fjordingLove this breed!.Lets keep it strong! Kathy West Coast Fjords Katherine Kramer 23355 Modoc Ct. Water consuption
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello List I have 15 fjords at this time. I would say 1/2 of them drink at least 30 gallons of water a day and produce about 60 lbs of pee. I have tried salt and many other supplements. Nothing seems to work. I have had test run on them all came back ok. The vet and nutritionist I have been working with feel that they are drinking water in their stalls because they are board. I have tried push waters, automatic bucket waters and now have stock tanks. The stock tanks have helped a little because they don't make noise when they drink. They get turned out almost everyday and worked. I don't know if this helps but, if someone has an answer I will try it. My vet does not recommend limiting their water. He feels he would rather see a horse drink to much than to little. Mine even drink lots of water on trail and traveling. I think they drink twice as much as the other horses. If you don't want to post suggestion you can email privately. Keep on fjording and have a GREAT DAY! Kathy West Coast Fjords Katherine Kramer 23355 Modoc Ct. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wow! What an education I got. Thank you Beth and Sandy for all your hard work. I think if everyone gets a chance they should go to an evaluation. I learned so much! It was well worth your time and effort. Even if you don't plan to breed there is a lot to learn. What a great group of people there. I just want to thank Diane Solomon and Linnea Carlson for all their help. I got up at 5:30 am and by the time I got up they had all the horses already watered. It was nice to see everyone help each other. The Fiedlers and Henrik worked very hard and with me there you know they had 1000's of questions to answer and they took the time to answer all of them. Wayne Hipsley and Pat Wolfe the evaluators took time out to explain the scores of all the horses and to point out the different styles of fjords and to explain what they evaluated on and why they scored the way they did. I have to give a special thank you to Wayne Hipsley for being so patient with me and spending so much time with me after the evaluation to help me further my education with the breed. I know he was very busy. For all you beginners out there! I showed my own horses! I was very nervous. It was actually kinda fun to be out there. Everyone makes you feel very comfortable. No one pointed out that I keep turning at the wrong cones. I realized it after the fact. We all need to go out and do this at least once. I will do it again. There is no reason for anyone to be nervous everyone is so helpful. Lets all get our horses evaluated!!! Most of all lets all try to get together more often. I just can't say enough on how great of time I had and education I got. Thanks to everyone there. All the spectators and everyone that showed. It was just a darn good FJORDING TIME. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello list I don't think farrier work is a no brainer. When my farrier hurt his back and could not come out I had a different farrier do my horses hoofs. It was ugly. They were tripping and stumbling. I had to find another farrier. Lucky for me I found a good one. All 14 of my horses are barefoot and it takes my new farrier more than 5 minutes a hoof. He trims to the way the leg is shaped. He measure and trims after he is done we have a little time left for BS. No more tripping and stumbling. Pomona Equine Affair
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Everyone We just finished promoting the fjords at the Pomona Equine Affair. There was a lot of interest in the breed. For the breed demo. Janie Olson had her trainer ride one of her horses english and her daughter rode western. Her daughter was dressed in an old Norwegian costume (forgot the name) That was over 100 years old. It belong to Bitten Nors mom. Very well done. I drove my pair I bought from Woody Hoopes. Thank you Woody for doing such a great job with them. They again are awesome. Love those boys. They do take care of me. Did I say I love that pair! The Nors and Westcoastfjords would like to thank everyone for all their help. It was really nice to have so many people come out and help us with our booth. It was also nice to have so much knowledge to share with everyone. It is amazing how much fjord people know about their breed. I will need to write more later. Today I have a great day planned. I will clean all my own stalls and play with my horses today. It is nice to have life back to normal. I am looking forward to cleaning stalls. What has life become for me? Parrelli
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello all I have done Parelli for years. Started pre fjords. I love him and Clinton Anderson. If it wasn't for Parelli I would have gave up on horses. I wish they hadn't gone so commercial but, if you have a good product you should be able to sale it. I don't know what level I am on. I know we can pass level 1 even with my babies. I have been doing it for years. (Many clinics.) My instructor would like me to take the tests. Not a big deal to me. If my horses are doing what I want I am happy. There are a lot of people that make fun of Parelli calling it the 7 games but, it is more fun to call it a game than to call it long lining . People have very small minds and opinions an don't get that it is basically the same thing. I love it when people who haven't tried the program already made up their minds that it is all a gimmick. This frustrates me. I am open to all suggestions people give me when training my horses. There is a lot more to natural horsemanship than a carrot stick and a rope halter. It shows you how to be a leader and a partner with your horse. Most of all it helps you understand your horse. I think we have all thought I wish I could read their minds. Parelli does help you understand what they are thinking and how to deal with a lot of situations you may come across with your horse. What ever training you use best of luck to you. If it works don't fix it. If it is broke get some glue. Equine Affair
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello All How are you all doing? I just came home from the equine affair yesterday. I just want to thank Lisa and Jeff Pedersen (I hope I spelled it right this time) from Utah who stop by to help and Jeff did a great job cutting Elfinn's mane for me, Keith and Jayne Olson for going to the event and did not mind me putting them to work. Jayne did the introduction at the child presentation. WOW! What a great job. She had no time to prepare. I really appreciate my friends and family who came to help. The fjords had to be the most popular horses there. I could not have done it with out them. We never set down or quit talking. I never imagined how many people would be interested! I need to thank the NFHR for the brochures and banner. I gave away almost all of them! I thought I was going to run out. I will be sending the banner back this week. Does anyone have any good broke horses for sale? There is going to be a breed show in Scottsdale, AZ. I was told this would be a great place for us to exhibit the fjord. It is almost as big as the affair in CA. We had 10,000 people at the event I just went to. Anyone interested in the information? I just don't have the funds or time to do two shows a year. I would like to see someone do this one. Take care and keep on fjording! Kathy Katherine Kramer Westcoast Fjords 23355 Modoc Ct. Gavilan Hills, CA 92570 951-657-2505
calendar
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello Everyone WoW! We had a great response to the calendar picture request. We only had one problem. Most of the pictures did not come back with high enough resolution. When we blow the picture up to fit on the calendar it becomes blurry. To tell if your picture has high enough resolution it will need to be around 1mb. The printer (My wonderful husband) said we could have until Monday morning..But, no later! Don't give up there are some great pictures. I am going to try to make an album for people to look at with the pictures we don't use with the farm names on them. If that is ok. Oh, I forgot the email to send them to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kathy Katherine Kramer Westcoast Fjords 23355 Modoc Ct. Gavilan Hills, CA 92570 951-657-2505

evaluation, Fallbrook, ca
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello all. I just wanted to let you all know we went to the evaluation on Friday in Fallbrook, Ca. I brought three very young horses. I brought 2 colts 14 and 15 months old and a young filly 16 months old. I had know idea what I was doing! I was very nervous and did not know what to expect. The Vestlandshest Fjord horse club could not have done a better job in putting on an evaluation. They were extremely helpful. Thurs. night there was a gentleman from the Danish fjord horse registry there who told us what to do and what to expect. His son Kent gave us a demonstration and his daughter translated for us. Phillip Odden and Hank Nors was also there to help us with instruction. They made everyone very comfortable and relaxed to exhibit their horses. Friday was the day of the evaluation. Everyone was so relaxed It was amazing! I was already to exhibit all three of my horse by myself when a wonderful Danish gentleman by the name of Henrick volunteered to help me. He did a great job and I owe him a world of thanks! Thank you Henrick! He is much younger and can run faster. The evaluators took time with each horse to point out the good things and of coarse the things we did not want to hear about our perfect horses. I am glad they took the time out for each horse. It would have been time well spent with or without a horse. The information I learned about the fjord horse will make me a better breeder and owner. I need to thank all of the people who participated in putting on the evalutaion It was very obvious that everyone worked very hard to make it a very relaxed and educational event. I hope to see everyone at up and coming fjord events. I need to also say one more thing! I meet the nicest people there. There is something to be said about fjord owners! WOW, what a great bunch of people. Kathy

Los Angeles Fair
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thank you Jo for the complement and for coming to support me. I need to thank everyone who made the expo a success! The brochure the NFHR sent to me was very impressive. Thank you Mike for the speech for the announcer. It was perfect. The versatile video was also a very big benefit to my booth. All my friends and family who came out to encourage me in my quest to promote the breed for the wonderful horse they are. I was very proud of my geldings. They did a perfect job for the 4 days. It had to be very hard on them with all the poking that they had to deal with. They were one of the most behaved horse there. Everyone was very impressed with them. They got as much attention as the Zebra's. There was 1000's of people who came to the World of Horse expo and hundreds who saw the demo. I don't think I have ever been this tired. My geldings have to be exhausted. It was all good! Kathy Kramer 23355 Modoc Ct Gavilan Hills, CA 92570 951-657-2505

colic
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] MY mare coliced. on fathers day. We have had two colic surgery's since then. She seems okay now. He removed her colon on the second surgery because he said she had twice the amount of colon for a horse her size. He was surprised we have not had more problems because of it. When I went to see her everyone commented on how large her colon was. I wanted to know if this was common in fjords. Thank you Kathy 23355 Modoc Ct Gavilan Hills, CA 92570 951-657-2505
swollen throat
This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Has anyone had a problem with their fjord's throat being swollen. My mare colic a couple of days ago and had to get surgery. The next day when the vet put the camera down her throat he noticed it was swollen. He said he had another fjord in the hospital with a swollen throat. He was wondering if this was a fjord trait. He has only seen two fjords. Both have the same problem. Thank You Kathy 23355 Modoc Ct Gavilan Hills, CA 92570 951-657-2505
