Sue(and Sandy), Checked out Kez at Camp - what a great addition to the website! Kez IS cute! I find it very interesting to see how individual looking each Fjord is - some are darker brown dun, some lighter(like Kez), plus the occasional white onem, just for starters. Then there's the differences in body language, facial expressions, etc. It's also interesting how much Kez resembles one of the geldings we raised here - he looks so much like Sindar that they could be twins(they look very much alike in the face, and their body language is SO similar). This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just an update on Kez. He is now 9 months old and doing very well. Some of you will remember I took him to Beth and Sandy at Starfire Farm when he was 6 months old, so that he could learn to be a horse. Being an orphan and raised by humans he thought he was one and this showed when he first arrived at Starfire. He was afraid when the other youngsters ran, but not any more he is totally one of the herd. He is with another colt and 2 fillies. Both he and the other colt Arend will be gelded on Tuesday. I miss Kez very much, but he needed to be a horse and I am so thankful to Beth and Sandy for letting him stay at Camp Starfire. I receive a letter and picture every weekend addressed to Mom and Dad and signed Kez, he tells me what the camp councilors are up to and what has happened during the week since his last letter. I have been able to watch him grow and hear what he is doing which makes the separation easier. Sandy has taken so many pictures she sent me a disk with 400 of them this weekend. Sandy has also added Kez at Camp to the Starfire web site, so if you would like to see Kez just go to Starfirefarm.com. Sandy is so talented and has done a wonderful job. So those of you who have followed Keswick's story take a look. Sue in NM Kez in Colorado Sue Clark-Sorger Crown Oak Fjords Sandia Park NM

It sounds like he's going to camp for the winter...only the food is actually good...the service is greatthe accommodations are comfy...the activities are fun...and the things he will learn with the life-long friends he will make at Camp Starfire will serve him well throughout life. Kez is living a "dogs" life! Can I go too:) Teresa

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Today my husband took Kez to Beth at Starfire Farms. He is now 61/2 months old and needs to be with kids his own age. Sure was hard to see him leave this morning, he has been such a big part of my life for so long, and being an orphan he really needed me. But now its time for him to be a horse and as Beth has 2 Obey kids about the same age as Kez I thought it was a good place for him to go for the winter. Riba has been here for nearly 2 weeks now and has fit in like she was always here. I have started some driving training which she has taken to like a duck to water. Riba and Heather have become great buddies which is really great, they both lost buddies this year whom they had both been for 3 years so now they have each other. Gail is missing Riba and still mourning Ida but we email often and she is enjoying Riba's adventures. I am amazed how quickly Riba's coat has grown, she had almost nothing when we picked her up in Tucson and while I don't usually blanket Fjords I thought I might have to with her but she is going to be just fine. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sue, So glad to hear the Keswick (and YOU too!) is doing so well! We weaned our Olga on Wednesday this week, she has a two year old for company but is still calling for Mom once in a while. We will be looking for a new home for her soon (she is by our grey Bjorn-Knutson), as well as the two year old filly and a 12 year old mare (Anvil's Morna - out of 3 generations of white duns). There's just not enough time in the day/week for Dad and I to work that many horses! We really want to concentrate on getting our pair of full sisters going as a driving pair! So, anyone interested in some very nice mares let me know! Amy Amy Evers Dun Lookin' Fjords Redmond, OR Fjord [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This message is from: "Karen McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sue, great to hear Mr Kez is doing so well! I think it is great that he is being ponied behind the cart, etc. and has a great companion and disciplinarian in your mustang,Mahogany. I wonder though, dos he have access to anyone his age to play around with? This would be the perfect world by far for him, and it seems though that you have come very close to making a perfect world for him allready. I too have a little orphan: Imilie, born May 20, whose dam Tise passed away on July 9th. I tried the liquid milk replacer thing w/ her (no go) but luckily I had introduced her to TDI-10 pellets (of her dams) just a week before, and so the idea of eating pellets and hay was not at all foreign to her. She is now residing with her grandma, Jorunn, Tise's dam,(who instantly adopted her w/o never having seen her before!!) and her grandpa, Sven, in a 5 acre pasture w/ her very own stall & paddock (w/ a creep entrance). Maybe i should install a Princess phone?! I am feeding Imilie TDI-16 only now; the vet said to cut out the Milk Replacer pellets (Land'o Lakes) and just give her TDI-16 and grassy alfalfa. So far, so good, except she seems to have one heck of a belly on her, despite worming. The vet said this is perhaps due to her consuming a larger qty. of roughage (read:hay) before her system is really used to it,a ruminant before her time, so to speak, hence the hay belly. I fondly refer to her as "my little ruminant". BTW, I saw nice pictures of Keswick that Les and Margaret Hoagland shared w/ me on their way back from their visit w/ you,(they bred their lovely mare Hosta back to Sven, and for a month and a half, "Im" had a filly to play with, their Kaylee). Kez looks normal sized to me, either that, or you are a smallish person! This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Keswick is a month old today and doing well. We are still feeding him every 2 hours round the clock, but he is now starting to eat Foal Lac pellets so we will soon feed him a little less often. Kate has returned to Los Trigos and Heather my 3 year old Fjord and Jorge a Pygora goat have taken over. He seems to be growing normally and is as tall as his brother Paul who is 4 days older. Keswick made the cover of the East Mountain Telegraph, our local paper and he will be on the cover, with Heather, of The Horsemans Voice a New Mexico horse magazine. The Horsemans Voice plans an annual update on his progress. So at one month old he is already an ambassador for his breed. . I have a question for the list how long does a foal eat dirt, I understand it is to build the bacteria in the stomach, but Kez seems to eat a lot more than I thought he would. Even in the pasture he will eat the grass down to the soil and eat dirt. It isn't so bad when he is eating the clay soil but I have sand and have had to restrict him from some areas where he could run. Sue Sue Clark-Sorger Crown Oak Fjords Sandia Park NM

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Just wanted to give an update on Keswick. He is doing extremely well and growing fast. Kate from Los Trigos Ranch is with him and teaching him how to be a Fjord horse and not a people. He is now drinking from a bucket and doing well, I am feeding him every 2 hours but will eventually, when it feels right start leaving the bucket it the stall for him. I will have to careful because of NM hot weather but at night I will be able to leave it a bit longer. My vet and friend has been here 3 times a day since Keswick was born, not because he has been needed but for moral support. The local paper will have an article, about Keswick and Fjord horses, next week. Thank you all for your concern and info it is great to know you are out there and can help or tell me where to get the info I need. Thanks again Sue, Keswick, Heather, Ljosen, Kate (fjords) and Mahogany (mustang) In sunny New Mexico.
