New Arrivals
This message is from: "Michele Noonan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> After what seems like weeks of foal watch, our mare Two Rivers Pen Jente (Penny) gave birth to a very long legged giraffe looking creature at 1 am. She had quite the crowd of onlookers watching her and did very well considering she was a maiden mare at 16 years old. I'm sure that would be equivalent to me at 40+ years having my first child. I would not be too happy. So announcing.. our dark brown stud colt (Sire is Anvil's Morgen) His name is (drum roll please) WHR Melman (Mel for short) Now that Penny prolonged her foaling it is now the due date of the next mare Britta 1. No rest for the wicked I mean weary LOL PS Our new mare Norway View Gina arrived safely from Wisconsin the night before last. We love her! She is so beautiful. All my neighbors have been asking about her color, they have never seen a gray fjord at my place. Soon they will see two, when OFI Skogen arrives in a few weeks. Soren's First Progeny and New Arrivals!
This message is from: "Michele Noonan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We are so excited about Soren's first two progeny. Dan and Solvi sent me pictures of the little Grey colt, OFI Emil. He is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Then we anxiously awaited Misha's mare to foal and from what I understand the filly is still color pending. Soren is actively looking for a few more mares for the spring and then he has to concentrate on training because he is going to be evaluated in September. I can't believe how much he has filled out and grown in the last year, he doesn't look like a baby anymore. He turns 4 in June, what a big growth year. We are STILL waiting Two River's Pen Jente (Penny) to have her Anvil's Morgen baby. I can already tell this baby is going to be a busy one. Most of the time we can barely tell the baby is kicking or moving. Not this foal, I can see it move from my bedroom window. It wants out! Next Britta l is due on April 26th, also with a Morgen foal. This one will be very big. We are also happy to announce we have two grey fjords arriving on our farm in the next two weeks. Norway View Gina (bred to OH Stone). Gina is coming from Wisconsin next week. Also OFI Skogen, Soren's full sibling is coming from Olivia Farm the first week of May. It's crazy as usual around here. 70 degrees one day and snowing the next. See you all at the PNFPG Spring Meeting Michele Noonan Wild Hair Ranch Stevensville, MT (4 hours from Spokane, WA) The FjordHorse List archives can be found at: http://tinyurl.com/rcepw
Spring In Montana and NEW Arrivals
This message is from: "Michele Noonan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Everyone, We are busy enjoying our wonderful weather, that is before it snows again. Typical spring here in Western Montana. I got emails yesterday from owners of two bred mares I sold last year and BOTH mares had little fillies this week. WHR Elsker now has a 5 fillies and 0 colts. His last crop this year as he is an adorable gelding now. I am so curious to see what the 4 mares at my house will have!. Freya ll and Tone' are due May 1, and Two Rivers Kare and WHR Tonetta are due June 1st. We have two new arrivals on our farm this week. Two mares that just needed good homes with NO grass. 24 year old HELMA (Sire: HEI and Dam: Ragnhild) and 11 year old Britta l (Sire: Matias, Dam: Helma) They both are seriously overweight, but HELMA doesn't look a day over 12. She moves like a dream. Britta is sweet as can be, after a major diet, Britta can grow a baby instead of fat. This is the one time our 10 acres of dry land has come in handy. We are so excited to have them. We are going this weekend to pick up Anvil's Morgen to bring to our farm for the Breeding Season. He will make some nice foals with my mares and will bring some new bloodlines to us. If anyone wants to breed to this drafty guy this spring, just give me an email. He only has 4 mares to breed so far. NEXT YEAR WE WILL HAVE A NEW YOUNG PERMANENT STUD AT OUR FARM. He will have to learn how to breed the dummy too. A new experience for all of us. Well I better get back to work, Why is it I can get all sweaty and sore working with and around the horses and it doesn't seem like work? But to BE at work is torture! Update on our new arrivals
This message is from: Michael H Melbye <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Thanks to those who responded to us on and off the list. Rinska and filly are both doing great! They are settling right in and are well on their way to being part of our family. The vet called with the blood work results and gave baby a clean bill of health, so we have taken her off of the antibiotics. Looks like we are going to have a happy ending. By the way, the filly has a reddish face, reddish dorsal stripe, reddish points above her eyes, and red curls in her mane and tail but has black way down deep in the mane and at the tip of the tail so she is probably a brown dun. We're looking for a name for the filly. Does anyone know the Norwegian word for "in transport" or "moving" or something like that? Michael Melbye 15411 Tubbs Rd. E. I am convinced they know when something's up, like a permanent parting of the ways. THANKS for sharing this wonderful incident and congratulations to Lois, Peg, and Pepper, on a job well done. Two new arrivals
This message is from: "Frederick J. \(Fred\) Pack" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We would like to announce the arrival of two new additions to our stable: Silly Willie Filly (we call her S'Willie) and Pepper from Knutsen Fjord Farms. Pepper (Pebermynt, I think) and Willie (Velhemine, again not sure of the spelling...the papers are in the house and my computer is out in my office), are progeny of our Susie (C-48) and half sisters. Pepper is a beautiful, well mannered 2 year old, and Willie is one of God's most beautiful creatures. Both are.magnificent. I was going to buy JUST Willie, but Willie refused to travel alone. We got only a mile from Knutsen's when it became apparent that Willie was stressing outbadly. We reversed course to return Willie to Knutsen's and thought to ship her commercially. Willie had never been alone before. It played out like a plot had been hatched between my wife and Peg K. They swear it isn't so, but I sensed a vast left wing conspiracy. I'd been had. Must be like potato chips. You can't always buy (eat) JUST one. SO..we bought her buddy (and half sister), Pepper (and darn glad we did.she is beautiful alsoand BIG) and traveled home safely. They promptly made themselves right at home, investigating all the hillshaving been raised on the flat. Up and downround and round Such fun to watch.beauty in motion. Are we happy here? YOU BET! We have two more beautiful girls to share our love with. Fred and Lois Pack Pack's Peak Stables Wilkeson, WA USA
