This message is from: "Starfire Farm, LLC" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> We, also, enjoyed our trip to Norway. It was an incredible opportunity for learning, as well as a beautiful country in which to spend time looking at quality horses. Thanks to the NFHR for sponsoring this trip, as well as Anne A. and the Evaluation Committe for all of their hard work. Thanks also to Wayne Hipsley for putting this trip together and to Jim Havelhurst for picking up the ball and running with it. We had a great time meeting people from Norway, Germany, Switzerlan and the UK, as well as spending time with our North American fjordy friends. We had some great times and wonderful conversations. We've put some of our digital photos of the trip on our website http://www.starfirefarm.com. Look for the Norway page. It might take a bit of time to download the photos, as I'm still working on my website learning curve, but you should have lots to see and enjoy. Also, in the Our Farm page are new photos of our first Fjord baby, Starfire Arend. Have fun Beth -- Beth Beymer & Sandy North Starfire Farm, Berthoud CO http://www.starfirefarm.com

This message is from: GAIL RUSSELL <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Remember I asked about Helgi Joensen...a Norwegian artist. Well, it turns out you cannot always search the web and find sites that have an ".no" at the end. I think the usual search engines must not look for them. So...we finally found the web site of this man's pewter vases. Not unlike Peg's experience. My friend called international information (8.00 a pop) several times and finally contacted a Helgi Joensen...but the wrong one. However, he was married to a woman from New Jersey, who got out her phone book and looked up his phone number in Stavanger. His work is pretty unusual. Have a look if you are interested. Try sculptures, vases and the ecclesiastical section. http://www.helgijoensen.no/sculptures.html > >Hi all - > >In the search for long-lost relatives in Norway [Doug's] I called a woman in >MN yesterday named Carol Meade. She not only had helpful information, she >owns a Fjord named Abel, which the family adores. Of course. She says he's >registered and that she bought him from someone in Montana. This message is from: "Jean Gayle" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Peg I can just see you now with the bags tied to your boots. Just be sure to have a fist full of dollars and I think that will counteract any derisive remarks made regarding eccentric Americans. I think I will plan my trip avoiding London and go straight to Munich where you only have to eat vegetables to avoid problems. I am not making fun of any of the terrible problems over there. My German friends are really worried about whether or not they may have eaten bad meat. I may have also when over there in 1995. But that is a narrow chance. But as I told a goofy friend of mine who thought she was coming down with Altzheimers. "Don't worry no one will notice anyway." This message is from: "Karen McCarthy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hi Peg, I did a search on Google for disposable overshoes... (when at work, even disposable overshoes are an exciting change 'o pace!!) There are allot of them out there to choose from folks!! Curiosly, most of them are from the UK or Australia. Seems they are made out of PVC,(pale blue or white!), with elasticised ankles, have non-skid soles and come in packages of 100. Gee, who's gonna bring a few gross with them to Norway to pass out? You'll surely gaurantee your popularity on the trip! Better yet: I wanna see a group photo of ya'll wearing your groovy, practical footwear. Karen original message-- In Norway, I'm thinking of bringing a bunch of strong plastic bags and rubber bands to wear over paddock boots. We'll be staying mostly at B&B's and farms, and can just discard the shoe coverings as we leave each one. Any better ideas? I don't mind looking silly, as many of you already know I'll also contact the authorities at the last minute for instructions and/or suggestions. This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Hello List, Just getting time to read some of the last months postings! Carol, I can do you one better than standing around at Horse Shows getting rained on by Cherynobil. We were in Germany at the time-on a three day Carriage Trip, just within a few miles of the stables, when the sky opened up with a thunder/lightning storm complete with hail! And then to find out that it was the 'fallout' from the explosion. What an unforgettable trip!! Bernadine Karns Nottawa Crossing Fjords Marshall, Michigan USA

This message is from: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Arthur Rivoire) Hi from Carol Rivoire at Beaver Dam Farm in Nova Scotia - I'm considering going to Norway in May. I was there over ten years ago for their 100th Anniversary Celebration, and it was wonderful; that is, except for the fact it was just at the time of the Chernobyl explosion, and we all were wondering if we were getting rained on by nuclear dust as we stood around at horse shows.
