Sorry you can't continue to enjoy the chat around the virtual table
with the rest of us. I guess you probably have learned all you need
to know about Fjords, so you won't really miss anything. Since
you've been around horses so long you already knew about using aloe
on sprains, so that would have been dribble. Sad to see you go.

BTW, you can get off the list the same way you got on it. Writing to
the list is not how it's done. Please us the "Unsubscribe" form at:

Howdy Steve,

Well we are each entitled to our own opinions and since you are the list
owner, your counts. I am a new Fjord owner, but have been raising horse for
nearly 40 years. I joined this list to learn all I can about this breed and
their training, what works and what doesn't. What tack fits their wide backs
and wide brows.

Seems of late, most of the info has died to idle chatter about corns and
bunions or some such dribble and as I well know how to use the delete key, in
the end that gets old also.

Please remove me from the list as it no longer benefits my time.

Thanks

Thanks for the offer to help Terry, however I believe I can handle
policing off-topic messages just fine. I think since sprains,
scrapes, broken bones, and contusions seem to be part of the
landscape with horses, any suggestions pertaining to relief can be
  considered to be on-topic.

Now the whole Barbie thing is wildly off-topic, but it is funny
enough to slide. However, we probably can do without a lot of
  on-list comments on it.

? I'm missing something? It does indeed relate very much to the fjord
list. The poor lady cannot RIDE with her leg swollen and is looking for
help. I for one hope that some information she gets helps her get back in
the saddle and enjoying her fjord horse. This list would indeed be boring
if we talked nothing about conformation, breeding, shows, etc. Those
subjects are very good topics, granted, but there is a LIFE surrounding each
of us and our fjords that is so much more than this. And we may all learn
something about how to better our lives, or our horses lives by keeping open
minds and letting the conversation about life with our fjords to flow. :)

So just how is this related to the Fjord list?

Please save idle chatter for off line comments. It takes up unnecessary

Hello Sue
I have had some extreamly great relief by using Aloe Vera. I have a very big
variety in my house and just slice it open and apply directly to the injury.
wrap it on and leave it there change it twice a day. I have seen it take a
swollen black foot and turn it white and unswollen overnight. Where the leaf
stopped the colour was still black. In your case I would also pick up a
bottle of edible aloe vera juice to help with the internal damage.
I hope you feel better soon.
Lauren.

Ha I can tell you don't ride with my trainers! My leg is the first
thing that both of them comment on. Lastly they comment on how cute the
horse is! :)

Sue,
My sympathies! I'm coming up on 2 years since fractures in my left ankle and
still having problems. I'm sure your doctor(s) has told you about support
stockings, bandages, braces, etc. For riding, I found that mid-duty hiking
boots work great. Mine have synthetic uppers, and can be laced (or not) in a
variety of ways. I spent the extra $$ and got really good orthotic inserts to
support my arch. I find that this helps my ankle and leg tremendously. I wear
my boots for all outside chores and riding. To protect my
calves, I wear mine with half chaps with Velcro instead of zippers.
I was also able to fit into a pair of Ariats, even with the bandage over the
ankle. (I think mine are the Heritage Paddock boots). Again, the key is being
able to lace them in difference ways.
Good luck, I hope you find something comfortable soon. Don't worry about how
your leg looks, everyone will be looking at your Fjord anyway!
