I am on the Larimer County Horseman's Association Evacuation Team. It is
subgroup of our local horse club in Colorado that is trained in emergency
evacuation procedures and has annual inspections for our trucks and trailers.
We are dispatched by the local sherrif department as well as Animal Protection
and Control when we are needed. We have been called upon several times over
the last 5 years or so. Fortunately Colorado's fires have not been major the
last couple of years. Contact me directly if you want more details. We are
happy to help other groups get started.

Hi List Again,
Genie, or others ,,on the CDL, over the years there has been a TON on info.,
no need to reinvent the wheel, just look in the archives. A couple days ago
there was an excellent post from an Australian fireman.

Many have mentioned starting to write disaster plans.
Our local horse club will be discussing that
tonight. I was wondering if there is a repository so-to-speak of sample
disaster plans that groups can draw on when writing their own plan. Does
anyone out there have one that they would like to share?

My thoughts are with all who are struggling through the forest fires.
It was good to hear Sarah's good news that her animals were OK and
that Jeff continues to be safe. Many have mentioned starting to
write disaster plans. Our local horse club will be discussing that
tonight. I was wondering if there is a repository so-to-speak of
sample disaster plans that groups can draw on when writing their own
plan. Does anyone out there have one that they would like to share?
It seems silly for each group to reinvent the wheel.

My sister lives in La Jolla and is housing two friends' families and
her temple is housing an evacuated old age home. Where she lives has
been missed by all of the fires since she has lived there but they
have had a road or two washed out with mud slides. We have had some
bad floods in my new home state of Connecticut this fall but we have
missed them in our area. Still people are getting smart and starting
to write plans. Recently there was a training session for
firefighters on how to handle large animals; I heard it was rather
amusing to see these big strong brave men cowered by horses.

Stay safe everyone.

  Hi all.

Jeff is OK, spent some time resting today. He will be back out
there tomorrow, the start of 4 more days on straight. If all go's
well, then he

will leave for home next Mon.
The Santiago fire is still raging. Todaythey set alot of
backfires to try and stop it from going towards Trabuco Canyon. The
winds shifted

and instead, it has come back towards Silverado Canyon again.

Jeff said that tomorrow, he is going to try and get up into
Mojeska Canyon, to see where they have lost 12 homes at least, including one
belonging to his firefighter.

Still amazed at the e-mails and phone calls from so many Fjord
friends. even ones from out of the Country ! Im letting him know about all
of the good wish's and kind thoughts.

On a funny note ( sort of ) My LQ horse trailer is at Jeffs Fire
Station for detailing. Its current color is more ASH GREY, just after Jeff
finished waxing the exterior, than white. He thinks that I should have a FIRE
SALE.; /

Oh, and the naughty llama's were found and caught. So basically,
they got out all of the livestock in his area unscathed. Lisa
