[flexcoders] Re: problems access a Flex/CF site via a URL

2007-10-22 Thread stephen50232
Hi guys,

I've been reading through your comments, thanks for the help. I looked
on the Livedocs as you mentioned and I saw that there is a
remoting-config.xml file, so I wondered if that was the cause of the
problems Im having. THen when I went to the wwwroot/web-inf/flex
folder there is no remoting-config.xml file, there is only a
service-config.xml file.

When I look at my dev machine the Flex folder has a lot more files and
folders in it, including the remoting-config.xml file. So next I
looked in the folder structure of another server, which did have the
Flex apps working before, and that folder does not have the
remoting-config.xml file in there only the service-config.xml file,
but the site did work on this server before, and was accessible via a
URL.

So my question is, could the problems be to do with
remoting-config.xml and why is file on my dev machine, but not the
servers I've been using (one that did work and one that doesn't),
could these be folders created by Flex builder?

Stephen

This is a change in CF7 vs. CF8.

[flexcoders] Re: problems access a Flex/CF site via a URL

2007-10-18 Thread stephen50232
Hi,

I've amended my service-config file to endpoint
uri=http://{server.name}:{server.port}/flex2gateway/;
class=flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint/ but I'm still getting
the java.lang.NullPointerException' error message, which I originally
received. After I made the change I did restart the ColdFusion server.

Still not sure what's happening?

 should be:

class=flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint/

 {server.name} and {server.port} will be replaced with the actual
values at runtime.
 So you can then put your app on different servers without having to
worry about the gateway url.

Re: [flexcoders] Re: problems access a Flex/CF site via a URL

2007-10-18 Thread Muzak
You don't need a config file on your server. The config file is compiled into
the flex application.
I'm not sure this is still the case with Flex 2.01, but changes to the
services-config.xml file weren't picked up by FlexBuilder,
unless you 'touched' the project properties.
So to be sure that the new services-config.xml is getting compiled, make a
small change to the project properties and apply before
compiling.

Muzak

it always works ;-)

Is it documented somewhere that a services-config.xml file is required locally

have to have matching destinations)?

[flexcoders] Re: problems access a Flex/CF site via a URL

2007-10-17 Thread stephen50232
Well my method calls worked fine on another server I was running this
application on, I've recently moved the site to a new server and
repointed the URL.

The service-config file looks like this:

?xml version=1.0 encoding=UTF-8?
services-config

service id=coldfusion-flashremoting-service
 class=flex.messaging.services.RemotingService

I'm not sure if the my-cfamf channel is correct or the cause of the
problem.

 At a guess, you have some cross domain problem with your RPC calls.
 What does your services-config and method calls look like ?

Re: [flexcoders] Re: problems access a Flex/CF site via a URL

2007-10-17 Thread Muzak
Use tokens for the endpoint uri

endpoint uri=http://83.170.86.32:80/flex2gateway/;
class=flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint/

should be:

endpoint uri=http://{server.name}:{server.port}/flex2gateway/;
class=flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint/

{server.name} and {server.port} will be replaced with the actual values at
runtime.
So you can then put your app on different servers without having to worry about
the gateway url.

regards,
Muzak
