We don't mess with the spur reduction, so it will be in whatever state it is
in when the procedure is started.

Re: [Flexradio] Option to remove dB display?

2006-10-06 Thread PETER BUCK
  Hi everyone,

I support Ahti's comment 110% - the dB display is one of the most useful
features of the radio. Besides the usual on-the-bench measurements it is ideal
for setting up and tuning beam aerials.
The colours on the display should be chosen to draw the eye to the most
wanted features and play down those not of interest at the time -the selection
available is not just to look pretty. This feature is another of the plus
points of the radio.

Is there a way to have the SDR-1000 display the Mark freq instead of the
carrier freq. while running RTTY in the DIGL mode? All of my other rigs
 always display the Mark frequency.

This is also a problems with my logging program and the Spot log since
the spots are always reporting the Mark Freq. When I click on the spot I
always have to mentally add 2125 hz to the freq.

The Options menu has a Click Tune Offset (hz) which is perfect for
click tuning. Is there a similar option available for Freq display
 and CAT freq command?

Now that we have great analog signal meter, I'd like the option to remove
the dB signal level display above it as it's somewhat distracting. Is
anyone else interested in having this option?

Easy. Just set the color of the text to the same as the background.
SetupForm - Appearance - Meter - Digital Text.

Well, if it really bothers you, go to Setup | Display | Meter and set the
Digital Text to the same color as Digital Background.

Re: [Flexradio] Option to remove dB display?

2006-10-06 Thread A.R.S. - W5AMI
My God! Did anyone ask to take this feature away? Dispose of it?
NO! Go back and read the original post. Wayne said the key word
OPTION. That's one thing about software. New things can be added
without taking away other things that some people like.

And another thing. How can the dBu meter really be THE most useful
thing about the SDR-1000? This brown nosing is really getting the
best of me on this list. Any time someone asks for an option that
deserves some thought, there are vultures that come out of no where to
say oh please, don't take that away. I would request that you read
Websters on the meaning of option.

Like Dan said, this meter thing has been requested since April of '06.
Another request was submitted later. No mention of that, however
that's the way we are supposed to make requests. Right?

What ever happened to SAM lock by the way? That seemed to go away
too, since Jeff let go of his console to Flex.

I'm just about done here. I've made good comments on the Flex and
I've also been honest about some things I don't like.

I truly love my SDR1K, but I think that there are some attitudes on
this email list that do not reflect the consumer's best interest.
I'll sit back and wait another day or two...

Tim,

Let me understand this correctly.. a flashing number on the consol display
( flashing faster than the SMPTE frame rate, ) is useful ? Please respond
*specifically* to this question. Do your homework first, understand the
question, THEN respond..

There seems to be some sort of nonsense going around here that is suggesting
that if your brain and optics can gather information faster than 30FPS you
are more techie than those of us regular mortals. (I am not making this
up,.. see the Feature tracker for details on statements made by others on
this subject. They claim the display is useful ! Unbelievable !!)

As noted before by several people, there IS an option. Make the meter
text color the same as the background and TA DA! - it is not there any
more distracting those who are distracted by it.

Ahi,

Is this box (SDR-1000) a piece of bench test gear or a radio?

If it will help you would you like me to send you a copy of the latest HP
catalog? They have a bunch of neat stuff in there that works even better
for your measurements... only problem is if you get one of their boxes, you
can't work the CQP Contest on it next weekend. My problem is I can't work

Both.

Thanks, but no need, I have them. On the other hand, I cannot afford
these H(igh) P(rice)/ (Agilent) products.

My problem is I can't work
the CQP Contest (and score worth a darn) while watching the flickering
 display.
Sorry for your concentration difficultes. Now I got a good explanation
and answer to my simple question Why to hide
Thanks for the many options of PowerSDR, you have already got some
advice how to get rid of the SMTP flickering rate of the displays.
Here are some more to slow down the flickering by adjusting:
- Display Mode AVG and/or Peak,
- FPS of the main display and use Averaging,
- Meter Delay,
- Averaging Time,
- Multimeter Analog Peak Hold,
- Digital Peak Hold,
- Average Time.

After using more than three years SDR-1000 and owning four (4) of
these boxes I am, in general, happy about the options, we are so
many users with different opinions and preferences. However, I think
that FlexRadio has wasted too much time and efforts for modifying the
GUI when the MODULAR SOFTWARE still waits for the completion - three
years after the first promise!

PS: well.. don't whine, you asked for it...
Very well said! I cannot put it better.
