[Flexradio] ! Watt version
Hi, I also have the 1 watt version simply because I have my own external amplifiers. The receiver is amazing but how do I get my one watt out. The most I,ve achieved so far is 7 milliwatts and I've tried everything using versions 1.6.2 up to 1.9.0.svn 821. Shorty after I got the radio I lost receive as well and I found the short coax lead from the BPF board to the RFE board wasn't making contact. Since then receive is back to normal but still no power out. I suspect I could have popped the power op-amp but have no way of testing it. Anyone got any ideas please Bill GM4XFU -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Re: [Flexradio] Keyboard Command for Sub Receiver
Eric: That would be great! I would find it useful when working dual receive split in the following situation: When the DX is weak there are times when you need the extra hearing power and it would be nice to hear the DX in both ears. A good example of this would be when the pile up is huge and you think he is coming back to your call. I think I would find it easier to hit the keys, vs grabbing the mouse and moving to the sub-receive button when I want it in both ears. I guess another option might be to build an external Dual receive audio management console. This could be done with separate volume controls for the right and left channels. There may be others that have done this? But the keyboard command option sounds simple and may serve the same purpose. Re: [Flexradio] FA-66 and EMI?
I haven't checked transmit, since I'm only connected to a random wire, without a tuner or a good ground (due to second floor shack). The last test I did kind of confirmed that the junk is coming from the SDR, because at 10 Mhz, if I only connect the FA-66 to the PC, the screen looks exactly as illustrated on the Flex site: two humps on the left and right sides, and the middle is flat. As soon as I connect the SDR (without an antenna), I get a broad hump centered just below 10 Mhz, and I hear noise and splatter (sounds like bleedthrough of BCB stations). I'm going to try bonding the SDR and the FA-66 next. Maybe it's some kind of ground loop. On 1/4/07, Lee A Crocker [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Can you transmit? I had a similar problem when I started with the FA-66 and it turned out to be a problem in the SDR-1000. I sent it back and they replaced 2 resistors and a choke, but they didn't list exactly what resistors and choke they replaced. Once I got it back the FA-66 tuned up perfectly. 73 W9OY __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: [Flexradio] Sub RX toggle Key and Sub RX Volume
Here's an alternative idea. How about a single slider that distributes the AF between Sub and Main RX. Kind of like an audio balance slider, but instead of balancing between L and R, balance between Sub and Main. Assuming equally strong Sub and Main RX signals, then: - Slide all the way to Main and you only hear Main - Slide all the way to Sub and you only hear Sub - Slide half way between Sub and Main and both are equally loud. Obviously, if Sub and Main have different signal strengths, then the mid point will be more towards the weaker of the two. Re: [Flexradio] Sub RX toggle Key and Sub RX Volume
Joe, That is an excellent idea, and the application extends beyond the ham bands. I know I'd make regular use of the slider to chase down and identify parallel outlets in the broadcast band, such as the multiple NHK and NHK2 (Japan) frequencies, or the Aussie ABC national/regional stations. On a good morning they pop up all over the dial when DXing from the Washington coast. I hear the stronger ones from home, but it takes the coastal location and a Beverage or K9AY to get them by the dozens. Combined with this a click option for rx1 to left ear and rx2 to right ear and the ability to swap them. He stated that he uses the space bar. The space bar will toggle on and off the last button hit with the mouse. Hit the Sub RX button once with the mouse and it toggles the Sub RX nicely after that with the space bar. I tried it and it works great! Thanks Henning! Sub RX Volume Question: Now I have a question regarding the vertical slider in the Sub RX box. This now controls the Main RX volume. Would it not be better if it controled the SUB RX volume??? I think it would. We already have a volume control for the Main RX. What do others think? Best Regards Mark NU8Z -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... [Flexradio] public domain vs GPL Re: Price Increase and 1 watt SDR discontinued

They're not the only ones. But, of course, this is one advantage of open source, GPL, etc. It fosters the development of compatible hardware. Not that I think their work is wonderful..It's a bit too knock-offy for my taste. I would have preferred them to develop an improved interface and then develop the needed I/O driver routines and release those with an appropriate GPL-like license. You could then compile PowerSDR with the new routines... Although, I don't know. Does PowerSDR provide a user interface (a'la hamlib) to select the interface? I don't think so. I think it would need to be a recompile. Re: [Flexradio] No 1 watt units
I initally bought the 1 watt version for my 6m and up transverters. I did not buy the 100 watt version as I saw the SDR1000 as an experimental radio. I was not sure if the SDR 1000 would be any useful for me. After less than 3 weeks I added the 100 watt PA as I really enjoyed the low band HF receive capabilities too. Soon I modified the SDR 1000 with I relais prior to the PA that redirects the 1 Watt signal to the transverter port. This Relais is activated via a homebrew poor mans UCB interface. I upgraded my stations to Electaft transverters that are switched via the poor mans UCB interface. This gives me 160-70cm with 100 watts on HF. The transverter port also makes a very good 2nd RX for my 80 160m beverages. BTW these are very easy modifications. On this moment the SDR 1000 is my exclusive 160-70cm radio. With the SDR1000 hardware design it is unfortunate that the relais for the DEM transverter is placed prior to the PA and the preamp. If this relais was placed in front of the HF preamp and behind the low power PA it would have made transverter interfacing easier. (More Flexible) I feel Flexradio makes a mistake by discontinuing the 1 watt version. Isn't it called a FLEXradio because of the flexibility in hardware and software? 73 Maarten On Thu, 04 Jan 2007 21:30:30 -0500, Philip Theis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Regarding the future absence of the 1 watt unit, will there be a QRP port? That is absolutely necessary for transverter work. Perhaps the new unit will have better transverter capabilities. I would think that as many as I encounter doing VHF/UHF work with the SDR, that the qrp unit would be more popular, I know it's the only SDR I own. Perhaps many qrp users also work low bands, hence acquire the 100 watt unit. My plan had been to get one with the high power option in the future. [Flexradio] SDR-1000 clone ...
Guys, This reflector is a valuable tool provided by Gerald and the guys at Flex for us SDR-1000 owners. I think using it to broadcast news of a clone, and links to more information about it, is a disservice to them. While the code developed by Eric and Bob and others, with our help, is public domain .. how would you feel if you provided all of these facilities and all of the programming manpower to enhance the SDR-1000 to have someone out of the country develop a competing product and undercut you. Not only that, they encourage their clients to come to these facilities to get the other half of what makes their thing work! I think a line has been crossed! -- Larry W8ER ___ FlexRadio mailing list FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archive Link: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ FlexRadio Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/ FlexRadio Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/
