Re: [Flexradio] Panadapter hump
Hi, I never saw a hump like this for all versions of PowerSDR. I would not be willing to accept a hump like this! Running 1 W version with Delta44 in a small tower and I am not using any isolation transformers. I only see a narrow peak when swichting the band or changing frequency (probably when a loop is working?) for about 1 sec. or so. Then the peak is disappearing or almost disappearing in the noise floor. I see the peak most on the higher bands (6m). Wonder which experiences other users have. It appears that much of the spectrum hump on the panadapter has been attenuated through modifications in the code. This hump for me tends to increase with increasing DDS frequencies, and gets ugly on 6 meters, especially with the pre-amp setting on high. At times the sound card is overwhelmed with a feedback loop that occurs with the hump and the AGC action. This problem appears to have been significantly improved upon by the software changes in the alpha branch. I have posted a couple of frames from PowerSDR and SDR-X to illustrate the difference. http://forums.flex-radio.com/Topic261-47-1.aspx Now all I can hope is that the software gurus will figure a way to support this greatly improved software with my archaic soundcard setup. 73 Craig KC2LFI -- next part -- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... There may be a point for other reflectors on transverter issues, digital modes and 3rd party logging issues, etc. I don't see anything wrong with splitting this up. There have from time to time been a number of threads generated on splitting the reflector. There is too much synergy and commonality in the products to segregate based on hardware, after all, it is PowerSDR that is the radio not the box, which is only a RF to IQ converter (and visa versa), when you get right down to it. Ahem I am well aware of how to use an e-mail filter and have a number of them set up for this and other reflectors. I *have* and *will continue* to put in *more than a little* effort to update them in the future. (Let's not get too nasty, eh? I was simply weighing in with my opinion.) If we follow the logic of let the filters do everything to its conclusion, then all e-mail should be sent to everyone, everywhere and they should be responsible for filtering out what they want from what they do. My suggestion is merely that at some point it makes sense to have special interest groups emerge. There is synergy -- no question. [Flexradio] SDR Linux User Group Meeting at 0100Z on TeamSpeak Featuring Ozy Testing
Hello Everyone, Well, I am moving up in the world. For last week's meeting I was connected to the internet via a borrowed wireless connection that was picked up in the parking lot of the Best Western in Show Low, Arizona. I am assuming it is Show Low's version of a Community LAN. This week I am helping Scotty with the testing of the Ozy boards. He has graciously offered me a LAN connection at their facility in Tempe. So for a report on Ozy testing coupled with a discussion of current Linux topics, tune in this evening, morning or afternoon depending on your location at 0100Z. Re: [Flexradio] Dayton specials?
A little clarification please! current SDR1K are you referring to present owners of SDR1000 that are still in warranty? As an example I'll use myself, I purchased my SDR1000 during Dayton last year so it's still under warranty (not for long), will I have an extra year? Or are you referring to new purchases on the remaining SDR1000's? Second issue provided their radio hasn't been modified would modification include lets say improving the +- 15 supply filter to eliminate noise in the radio? I'm curious because on my radio that problem was fairly serious. [Flexradio] RF output with no mic in SSB
Hello Flexers, Some time back I saw a post from someone that explained they were getting rf output (very low) when they were keyed up in SSB but with no mic gain or even a mic connected. I tried hooking up an old 2M transverter last weekend and I get near full output when I key the SDR-1000. The same is true if I turn the mic gain off (0) and or unplug the mic. The level is very low, I suspect less than a milliwatt. Don't ask about my drive requirements. I had to modify the 28 mhz tx IF input using a 50 ohm swamping resistor. The original input impedence was 8k ohms. It probably wouldn't have hurt the SDR-1000 to see this impedence (for low drive levels) but I wanted to accurately measure the drive level with a WM-2. So now while I can drive it harder with a measure of safety, it is also very sensitive to low rf levels. Is there anyone who has figured out a way to completely eliminate this low level of rf from the SDR-1000 when no modulation is present? It's almost like a balanced modulator in an unbalanced condition. Yea yea yea, I know old school. I'd appreciate any ideas. True that while in the carrier modes this will have little consiquence, however in SSB, this won't fly. Oh BTW it isn't oscillation. It's an on frequency signal. Re: [Flexradio] Dayton specials?
The warranty will extend from the end of the original 1 year period for anyone who purchased a SDR1k for whom we have a sales record or other proof of purchase, for example the original invoice. WE will deal with modifications on a case by case basis; however, if it isn't an approved FRS modification it will most likely void the warranty. The good news is that we get very few radios in for repair. We currently have none waiting for service and our turn around is normally less than a week. John P. I use my AH-4 with the SDR-1000 daily. I made a manual tuning interface and just hit the tune button on PowerSDR, press the AH-4 tune button and it does it's thing. I was thinking about digging into the code to see the control line at the internal tuner uses and see if it could be adapted, but I got side tracked with other things. -Tim, W4TME -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alan NV8A Sent: Thursday, April 19, 2007 9:24 PM To: Flex Radio refelector Subject: Re: [Flexradio] New autotuner -- price? My guess is that the carrier leakage may come due to any internal hardware unbalance of the QSE circuit (sampling pulse width, internal Ron resistance, circuit capacitance, transformer, etc. and their combinations) that cannot be completely cancelled by the software. The power dependence seems to indicate some thermal influence to the sampling switch. Because I use my SDR-1000s more for receiving rather than transmitting, the minor leakage doesn't disturb me.
