Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000
Oeps, I was thinking of the demo use of the 1.8 PowerSDR, not another demo when writing my reply. So what you see in the demo-mode in PowerSDR latest version is what you get. It is nice to see the latest SVN versions in demo version as well. 73 groeten Peter petervn(a)hetnet.nl mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ; pa0pvn(a)hetnet.nl mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ; pa0pvn(a)gmail.com ; pa0pvn(a)amsat.org . [Flexradio] Electrical Fan motor noise in SDR w/ PA
I had noticed that on some frequencies ( 12 meters ) I had what appeared to be internal electrical noise even with the antenna disconnected. I tracked this noise to the PA fan motor. And I cured it by placing a 0.1 uf capacitor across the fan power leads at the DC terminal block inside the SDR-1000. I had this problem on two different radios. Re: [Flexradio] anybody using a sdr with Writelog
Bill, Unless you need to interface a piece of hardware that accepts a serial interface, you really shouldn't have to use anything other than the virtual COM ports. The reason most ham apps have COM port interfaces is because for most radios, this is the only interface (hardware COM port). Because our radio is already connected to the PC, this hardware interface is unnecessary. But we offer the CAT software (thanks to volunteers) to interface to existing software easily via virtual ports. Note that you can wire up your CW paddles to a serial plug and use a hardware port for minimally more reliable CW performance. This doesn't seem to make as much difference in the latest software however because of the improvements made to the keying. Re: [Flexradio] New Release?
Trevor, This release strategy is actually more typical of SVN development. Typically the work goes on in one or more branches and then is migrated into the trunk once finished. The SDR-X branch will be merged (really copied over) the trunk once it is released for 1.10.0. We have not made hard plans yet, but we may make the move to the trunk for a brief Beta before it is released as 1.10.0 and tagged as such. Note: If all of this branch, SVN, Beta, trunk, tags stuff confuses/scares you, have no fear. You don't have to worry about any of this to enjoy your radio. [Flexradio] cw remote
I have no sdr yet and no real experience with PowerSDR, so my question may be answered very easy. I convinced my XYL to allow order of the Flex5k with the argument, that she can operate her YL skeds with her laptop from the kitchen, garden or elsewhere (with network access available). I will put the radio hardware into a box somewhere with remote control. Next question of my XYL was: can I operate cw (with a keyer of corse, not with the computer) ? ?? I do not want to invent a protocol for fast keyer tranfer via network, so I will transfer her ETMs cw audio to the computers mic input and via the voice chanal to the remote box. But now: how to configure PowerSDR? I think, that I will need SSB mode, set vox on in a fast mode, switch some narrow RX and TX filters and may be do some other setting. Question is: Is there a one button solution? My ideal solution would be a hidden configuration switch for the CWL und CWU button to operate these button either with hardware key or tone signal. As I said, I may be completely wrong and there is another very simple solution. Tnx for your ideas. Re: [Flexradio] Interesting noise
This is an issue that should have been taken care of by Flex. Many not just a few owners seem to have this problem. Its obvious to me that Flex had the new radio in mind instead of responding to a serious design deficiency. Now Flex wants us to buy into the new radio. I've seen this before, usually in the morning, as I recall. I'm just wondering if they are a local noise (either in the shack or nearby) or if other people have seen them. Here's a description: Noise floor (today at about -120) drops a couple of DB's A blob of noise comes up from the floor and spreads symmetrically, sometimes dissipating as it goes, other times stopping at a certain width and hanging there for a few seconds. This process takes a few seconds. The pattern recurs in intervals of 10 to 20 seconds for a half-dozen repetitions then stops for an indeterminate period before coming back. It can go on for some time, but eventually subsides. I've got a couple of AVI movies of a portion of the panadapter when this is happening and an I/Q recording of the phenomenon if anyone would like to see it. Re: [Flexradio] cw remote
Guenter, CW SKEDs from the garden? What about the dirt in the paddles? :-) What you want is a comm port extender over TCP/IP. The new FlexCAT software that Bob, is working might have this capability (hint, hint Bob), but it will not be ready until the end of the year. In the mean time, check out these links. I have not used any of these products so I have no recommendation to give. http://www.labtam-inc.com/articles/remapro-1-2.html http://www.serial-port-communication.com/serial-over-tcpip/ http://www.softplatz.com/software/share-serial-port-over-tcp-ip/ You would connect the keyer to a comm port just like you would if the keyer was directly connected to the PC. All of the other remote control aspects of running the rig would be like it is documented in the KB using VNC and IP-SOUND (or Skype). -Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of guenter Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 5:30 PM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] cw remote I have no sdr yet and no real experience with PowerSDR, so my question may be answered very easy. Re: [Flexradio] new Vista driver for the sdr1000 FA-66 Firewire
David, Any advice or am I doing something wrong? Other than running Vista? (sorry, I could not resist HI HI). Loading a driver is fairly straight forward process. If it fails, something is wrong with the operating system (heaven forbid!) or the driver. It sounds like it is waiting on the OS to do something. Other than doing a complete un-install of the driver and rebooting with out the FA-66 connected, I would recommend contacting Edirol support. Ultimately it is their problem to resolve. http://backstage.rolandus.com/email_support/ Please do share with the reflector what the resolution was once you get it working. -Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of David Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 3:13 AM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] new Vista driver for the sdr1000 FA-66 Firewire I downloaded the Vista driver for the FA-66.
