[Flexradio] Erratic CW keying

2008-03-22 Thread Chuck Mayfield - AA5J
If I set the sound card buffer size below 2048 my cw keying becomes erratic.
sampling at 192k, edirol fa-66.

Does that make any sense to you gurus?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

[Flexradio] Flex 5000A big SWR no power output

2008-03-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hello group,

I own a Flex 5000A.
After 2 weeks working with it very happy, one day it
appeared a very high and variable SWR and no power output.

I have made tests with different dummy loads, antennas and
cables and now I cannot transmit. Reception is perfect.
The built in ATU does not work. (or at least, the relaises
don't make the typical matching sound)

My system is:
PC Intel Core 2 quad CPU 2,4 Ghz
3 Gb RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1
Firmware: 0.1.1.13
PowerSDR: 1.10.4
VAC: Working
Virtual COMS: Working

I have made new database for PowerSDR (as seen in the
manual), but the problem continues.

I am a Mac user and I bought this computer just for the
Flex. :-(

Is my FlexRadio broken ?

Please help.

[Flexradio] waterfall

2008-03-22 Thread FireBrick
Taking a break from drywall taping to play with BARTG/waterfall display
(as if I needed a reason to take a break from drywall taping, yuck, one job I
hate)

Anyway, first time I every used the waterfall for rtty
I previously always tuned via the double hump/mark & space.
The waterfall is a tad easier as you can drop the crosshairs into the middle of
the waterfall, strong signals have a gap, easier.

I do have a suggestion for a feature which I'll put on the feature list

While the + sign will drop down into the center of the waterfall display, the
fine line that appears in the panadaptor portion does not.
The black + target is a bit harder to see with it's yellow horizontal and no
vertical component. at least on my display.

So if the vertical xmit line also extended down the through the waterfall, it
would be easier still.

Back to taping

[Flexradio] It pays to be careful

2008-03-22 Thread Lee Mushel
As flexers we are accustomed to honest, aboveboard fair treatment from
Flexradio. This is a reminder that we shouldn't expect this from all of our
internet contacts even if they are well known in ham radio circles. I am one
of those people who, having had a very honest experience with flex, rather
foolishly assumed that this would be true with others and placed one of the
early bird special orders with QRP AM for the NUE PSK demodulator. I'm still
waiting for delivery and the situation is very different from waiting for
delivery of the Flex5000A. After checking with the League to see if there was
some problem, I found out that QRP isn't following a first ordered, first
delivered policy. I suggest that you be very careful before placing any order
for this product. Or at least be prepared to wait for a very long time with no
response to any request for an update on delivery.

To the best of my ability.
When tuning in WWV on 5 or 10 megs.
My ear says I'm zero beat at 10.000.016
and I can almost stop the phase display at the same readout.

starting the frequency calibration routine in the setup does not improve this.

Frequently, I find my self as far off as 10.000.060

What do I have to do to fix this?

Running the Wizard to load the factory frequency calibration has no effect as
far as I can see.

Minor correction to Bill's post:

"then the mouse wheel keeps changing the bottom selection"

Yep, I see that here too.

I just posted this as a bug report but wonder if other experience this
lasters firmware, lastest svn

If I select the Display Option and enable split
 set top to Panadaptor
 set bottom to Waterfall
The waterfall choice remains highlighted
then the mouse keeps changing the bottom selection

mitigation
do NOT enable split until you have made your choices for top and bottom
the last one will remain highlited but when clicking on Split to enable, the
highlighting will clear and mouse will return to normal operation

Re: [Flexradio] I'm off calibration frequently

2008-03-22 Thread Bob Tracy
Bill,

You can go to Setup -> Hardware Config -> DDS and check the Expert box.
Move the clock offset until your phase indicator stops moving (or as close
as you can get).

Re: [Flexradio] Firmware Upgrades

2008-03-22 Thread Rick Markey, KN3C
I'm up to ver 13 and after one hour of operation this morning on SSB, have
seen one TX/RX lockup so far. The receive went way down as if an attenuator
was engaged, but it did not totally go away. As usual, toggling the MOX
brought everything back to normal.

2008-03-22 Thread Paul20
I am not sure if this is a problem, but I installed this new firmware and my
tune level went up to about 30Watts.
I reverted to version 12 and it dropped to 10Watts again.
Has anyone else found this or was it a bad flash on my part..
cheers
