[Flexradio] Prices
1. I see that the price for RX2 has jumped from $599 to $649 already -- almost as soon as the product and the software needed to use it became available. I had seen no announcement of a price increase, nor any indication that $599 was an introductory price only. 2. [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx
I have my Flex 5000a hooked to a pair of Bose companion II speakers. While the sound out is excellent, I would like to be able to get some more bass response. I have messed with the rx equalizer but this does not give me what I want. Has anybody added a subwoofer or other speaker to extend the bass response? Since the flex has only the one stereo output on the back of the radio, I am not even sure how I would add another speaker for better bass response to augment the Bose speakers that are already hooked up. I have no clue if this will work or not, but what if you fed a 5.1 enabled sound card the stereo output from the F5K into the 5.1 sound card's line in and then used the 5.1 sound card's DSP to enable the use of a sub woofer (and the other channels as well). -Tim -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Harry Williams Sent: Monday, June 30, 2008 12:01 PM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx I have my Flex 5000a hooked to a pair of Bose companion II speakers. [Flexradio] RX2 RF Switching
Good Morning, Last week I got RX2 installed. Installation was a breeze and it seems to work well. My question is concerning the RF Switching options available for RX2. The pull down shows only RX2 IN and RX1 Tap as options. Is this a limitiation of the hardware or of the software? If it is a limitation of the hardware it is a fairly severe limitiation on the usefullness of RX2... even something as simple as monitoring 6M (with the intent of operating there if something is heard) while operating on another band is going to require some form of external switching to implement. 73 de Bill WB0VHW ___ FlexRadio Systems Mailing List FlexRadio@flex-radio.biz http://mail.flex-radio.biz/mailman/listinfo/flexradio_flex-radio.biz Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexradio%40flex-radio.biz/ Knowledge Base: http://kb.flex-radio.com/ Homepage: http://www.flex-radio.com/
Re: [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx
Harry, I am using some Logitech THX series 5.1 speakers that have a subwoofer, and the bass response, dependent upon who is transmitting, can be quite loud and over powering at times. All of that depends upon how low you have the receive filter set for as well. I do not know what you have yours set for, but I thought I would pass along that setting the receive filter to allow everything above 50Hz or even lower to pass through your RX1/RX2 could help. If you have already done that, then yes a subwoofer will definitely enhance your current bass response. You may find yourself, like me, adjusting the low end of the filter dependent upon who you are conversing with. 73, Mike W5CUL -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Harry Williams Sent: Monday, June 30, 2008 11:01 AM To: flexradio@flex-radio.biz Subject: [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx I have my Flex 5000a hooked to a pair of Bose companion II speakers. Re: [Flexradio] More bass from Flex 5000A on Rx
Harry, I use the Bose Companion III which has the subwoofer. Like Harry says, it is really dependent upon how you have your receive filter set. There have been times when I was adjusting the RX filter that the bass was overwhelming which, in my estimation, doesn't enhance receive capability. I guess it's just a matter of preference. [Flexradio] new to SDR-1000, computer-noise redux
Im sure this is a very old and very well addressed topic, so if the vets can just point me where to look in the archives, Ill get to reading. My problem? Extreme noise from my computer prevents me from hearing much of anything. The noise exists even with only the power cable connected and the system booted up. Hi Jacky from BS Math Lousiana Tech '69! I found that two Corcom 15 ET1 line filters in series with the AC power cord to the computer drastically reduced really terrible noise on 80 meters and 40 meters. They are larger than they need to be (re: current spec) but they were being given away at a local club meeting. Two in series in the AC line worked great. Tnx to Chuck, Bill, and Don Sachnoff for their suggestions. Wound up using the .cmd commands below to discover I had a bunch of unused USB port assignments left over from stuff I had thrown out. Deleted those. Also per Bill's suggestion, had to do the remove existing USB stuff and reboot to get some of the numbers back. Then go to Device Manager and look at existing USB callouts. Removed about ten of those no longer in use. After running com0com setup and renaming existing coms, I now have COM2 and COM8 and a bunch more available and working. N1MM is still a challenge but the next contest is a long ways away. Again tnx to all for the great help. [Flexradio] K9DUR Voice Keyer v1.1
Version 1.1 of my voice keyer program is now available for download from my web site: http://www/qsl.net/k9dur/downloads.htm This version incorporates fixes for all of the bugs that have been reported to me so far plus an enhancement suggested by Tim Ellison, W4TME. In summary, the changes are: 1.) All setup data is now stored in an .XML file in the program directory instead of in the Windows registry. This allows the user to return all setup parameters to their default values simply by renaming or deleting the setup file. 2.) COM ports that are already in use by another program will not be included in the list of installed ports. You should start any programs using serial ports, such as PowerSDR, before starting VoiceKeyer. 3.) An issue concerning the program window location being reset to the default (upper left-hand corner) under certain conditions has been fixed. 4.) An issue where the program would terminate with an error if you tried to send a message with no profile selected has been fixed. 5.) An option has been added to be able to send messages by pressing the F1-F10 keys in addition to clicking on a message button. (Enhancement suggested by W4TME) Tim also suggested adding a way to listen to the messages without using PowerSDR. This can already be done simply by going into Setup Hardware and selecting the Windows default sound card then selecting VAC again when you are finished.
