Re: [Flexradio] fldigi error

2011-01-12 Thread Gary Warner
I went home and rebooted my computer. Then I tried to open SDR, and it
would not open. I tried and tried to open it, and it simply would not
do so. I then ran the SDR setup again and did a repair of the SDR
installation. Once that was done, everything worked fine- both SDR and
fldigi. No more conflicts or messages.

By the way, I do not think that I can use a different pair of COM ports
for HDR's logbook than I do with fldigi, or I would have to keep
changing the COM port in SDR, wouldn't I?

Anyway it works fine again, so I guess the old adage is true about
Windows- reboot and everything is fine again until it is necessary to
reboot again.

Neal,

I am going to double check tonight by re-booting the computer and then
just starting SDR and fldigi to see if the error goes away. If it
does, then there is some residual service left running when HRD is closed. HRD
does in fact use that port when it is running, but it is not on at the same
time as fldigi.

Re: [Flexradio] Which Firewire Vendor

2011-01-12 Thread David Walker

Thanks Tim,

Yes I saw the isoch 8 versus isoch 4 but didn't know what it meant so
that's why the post for advice.

All boxes were ticked when i performed the scan.

I notice with the VIA onboard FW card I do not notice any latency on CW
transmit. The latency checker maxes out at 22u sec and it barely blips
the bar graph.

Many thanks yet again.

Dave.

[Flexradio] NOD32 and System Protection

2011-01-12 Thread Mike - KM0T
Hi all,

I know Neal uses NOD32 as a product on his website for the "Flex Optimized"
computers he sells, so I was thinking of putting that on a new laptop I
recently got. But, does anyone have any comment on their version of anti-spam
/ anti-malware software they also sell as a package? (EST Smart Securty 4)

And, how well does it react with PowerSDR?

Comments appreciated. Got a new F-Series Sony Vaio and getting it all set up
and readied for hook the radios to it soon.

73 and Thanks!

These look like standard logging messages from fldigi but not sure. I don't
usually leave the software status logging turned on. You really need to go
ask on the fldigi mailing list. It is linux...@yahoogroups.com. Most of the
guys there run linux but fldigi is supported on windows and MacOS too.

Re: [Flexradio] fldigi error

2011-01-12 Thread Gary Warner

Tim,

I am not home with that computer, but it is the version that Steve Nance
sent me on 1/2/2011-the file properties of the setup file say that it
was modified in 10/30/2009 . The pdf file that is included in the zip
file says VSP Manager by K5FR- Version 1.0.1.006.

I am suddenly getting an error when I start fldigi, although fldigi seems to
still work after the message noted below (although I could only find CW this
morning).

Here is a re-write of the event log, since the image of the log was rejected by

I have only one physical COM port in the machine (COM1), and I created the
ports in pairs 2 and 12, 3 and 13, ...6 and 16... etc

I am also using COM16 for Ham Radio Deluxe solely for the Log (only when fldigi
is not running), and I looked at the processes that were active in Windows Task
Manager, and did not see HRD running, so I do not think that is causing the
conflict.

I am running SDR 2.0.16 on a Windows 7- 64 bit machine, with Fldigi 3.20.34

What is wrong?

Re: [Flexradio] SDR-1000 X2 External Control connector question

2011-01-12 Thread Ray - K9DUR
Doug,

As you noted, the X2 outputs are open-collector. Logic "High" turns the
transistor on, which will result in a collector-to-ground voltage of a few
tenths of a volt. Logic "Low" turns the transistor off, resulting in the
collector voltage rising to whatever the pull-up voltage is in the device
being driven.

When dealing with open-collector circuits, it may be less confusing to think
in terms of current levels instead of voltage levels -- Low = no current
flow, High = Max current flow.

I think they are talking about TTL logic levels - read up on TTL
transition levels on google. IIRC, HIGH is maybe 3-4V.
