[Flexradio] How to substitute and clone

2011-08-09 Thread Clyde Washburn
Wednesday I am expecting a Flex-5000VU which will replace the Flex-3000 I have
been using at home. If I simply connect the 5K in
place of the 3K will my settings still be the same (that would be good).

Then, I need to clone the 3K settings I've been using at home to the computer
at our summer home where the 3K will be installed.
What is the easiest way to do that?

[Flexradio] Possible bug 2.15

2011-08-09 Thread G3VGZ
I've noticed that I can't scroll the frequency between 2MHzand 2.1MHz or
4Mhz and 4.2MHz This may occur at higher frequencies too but I haven't as
yet checked.

It is fine with 2.1 RC3 and previous. It is still present after a database
reset.

Another possible anomily -- using the memory drop down on the main window in
FM, the focus stays with the window (the left and right arrow keys and the
mouse change memory settings) after clicking in the panadaptor display. It
changes ok when clicked in the frequency display.

Using XP SP3 and 2.15 with Flex 1500 (also latest DDutils but it doesn't
seem to affect the above behavior.)

Re: [Flexradio] How to substitute and clone

2011-08-09 Thread Ray, K9DUR
Clyde,

Each radio has settings that are radio-specific, PowerSDR creates a
separate database for each radio it sees. Therefore, the answer to your
question is no, your FLEX-3000 settings will NOT be automatically
transferred to your FLEX-5000. Your FLEX-5000 will start with the factory
default settings. Also, you cannot use the database import/export facility
in PowerSDR to transfer settings from one radio to another because of the
different radio-specific settings.

I have written a free utility (free except for the rather blatant, on-time
only plea for a donation) that will allow you to safely transfer all of your
custom settings from one PowerSDR database to another. The utility is
called SDRDataTransfer and is available from my website. Go to
http://k9dur.info and click on Downloads.

Your procedure will be:

1. While your FLEX-3000 is still hooked up, start PowerSDR open the Setup
form. Click on Export Database. This will place a copy of your FLEX-3000
database on your desktop. Save it to CD or flash drive for use at the
summer home.

2. Hookup up your new FLEX-5000VU start PowerSDR. This will create a new
database with the default settings.

3. Use SDRDataTransfer to transfer all of your custom settings from your
FLEX-3000 database to the new FLEX-5000 database.

4. At the summer home, install PowerSDR hook up the FLEX-3000. When you
start PowerSDR, it will create a new database. Then use SDRDataTransfer to
transfer your settings from the old FLEX-3000 database you saved previously
to the new one.

Good luck. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to
ask.
